Investment Banker

The general public doesn’t know this because the average person has no clue what bankers do

I would take off finance bros. Most people have no clue what bankers do or how much money they make, especially outside of NYC. Saying you’re a lawyer has much more appeal than saying you’re a banker, even though finance bros earn more.

80/20 split on everything based on each person’s percentage of our combined incomes. Tbh I let her cover 20% just so she can feel like she’s contributing something, which is what she wants and I’m fine with that. I put her 20% into an investment account.

I’m in NYC, where teachers get paid quite a bit but still nowhere near as much as the types of people I mentioned. I like that you cherry picked the $80K number to try to support your point. I could go into the statistics, but you’re so worked up I won’t even bother.

Both of my parents are teachers so I respect them a lot. My example of a teacher vs. lawyer was to point out income as the bar, not the profession itself. If you’re saying that teachers and finance guys are in the same tax bracket I would disagree. Socially? Sure. Financially? No.

For sex? I don’t think any man is going to turn down a hot woman. For seriously dating/relationship? I think that’s taken into consideration, to some extent.

From what I’ve seen, if a woman is hot she does just fine with the banker/lawyer types, regardless of income. But in most cases (from what I’ve seen) these men are going to be a bit more skeptical about seriously dating a woman that does not have stable employment. If you’re a young guy in your late 20’s or early 30’s earning $300-500K or more you’re probably not going to date a woman with a lower middle class job or unstable employment. You’ll have sex with her though. I don’t think that means …

But you don’t even get to the stage where education/income is considered without passing the eye test first, in my opinion. I usually see men choose the hottest partner they can find regardless of education/income level.

I’m a banker and I’m around dozens of other bankers, lawyers, consultants, doctors, and so on. Most guys I know in those fields care about looks first. Once a woman has gotten past that looks barrier, other things come into play and a woman’s profession is usually not one of those things. If a teacher is hotter than a lawyer, most of these men are going to take the teacher because your education or earnings don’t mean much to them. They simply don’t have to care about your earnings because they …

Very true. On the other hand people often forget that men, too, want to feel desired. Wouldn’t a man also want to know that his woman desires him enough to want to marry him? Some will call it insecurity, but the idea that a woman should not have to bring it up, ever, is bullshit. I’m all for men taking initiative, but far too often I see women completely neglect a man’s need to feel desired. Some women simply think that them being with you is enough. If a man had the same belief (that him being…

I think establishing a timeframe is key too. If you and your partner mention the idea of marriage in the first year of the relationship without mentioning any timeframe, you really can’t be upset when it hasn’t happened after X amount of years. It’s like a couple saying they want to get married “one day”, or in a few years, or at some point, and then several years pass by with nothing. It’s all about communication. Two friends of mine: Couple A - Together 5 years. Discussed marriage in the first…

I’ve heard several female friends of mine, or female friends of my girlfriend, complain about their male partners not popping the question or not bringing up the idea of marriage after several years of dating. Whenever someone asks them if they’ve mentioned the topic to their partners or made their intentions clear (meaning that they’ve let it be known they eventually want to be married or that marriage is something they desire), the answer is usually no. Without getting into a debate about who …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
