Stick to the touristy spots, max you'll get scammed. The more rural areas are more risky for foreigners. I don't think Italians are bad people but when the main source of income for a country is tourism and luxury goods, there will be a large class of havenots, and they'll be concentrated in the rural parts.

Because let's be honest, people get married later these days. Usually by the time of the marriage, the woman has had a lot more experience in dating than the man( unless the man is attractive). You may not realize this but the entire existence of man is dependent on performance. Guys get jaded and butter ,by the time most women want to settle down.

It happens the other way too. As a plain looking guy, your youth is lonely, you only get better with women once you're a little older, more experienced and jaded. As an average man it's hard to find someone who'll be with you for the struggle and come up, but the women who you liked when you were younger only like you once you've become successful or turned you life around by a lot. If I was 3-4 years younger, I would have jumped at the opportunity, but now that I'm 27 , my standards have risen.
