People who talk like that tend to be saying more about themselves than others. Do you know any people who seem to insist that they hate drama despite being the person who starts it all? It's kind of like that. When some woman makes those comments about men, it's really just them saying things like: "I am a female incel" or "I treat men like crap and play hard to get so the only men I hang out with are creeps." The problem is not with all men, the problem is with how she interacts with all men. A…

It's the "especially among women" part. It's similar to the "1 in 4 homeless people are women!!!" bit where the conclusion is women are essentially most effected by homelessness. I mean, homelessness is an issue no matter who it is, but if you see that figure and determine women should be your primary focus for a crusade on homelessness you need to get the worms out of your brain. The only fair take with the OP is that technically only the female number saw an increase in that graph while men co…

Strangely, no. It made it a lot easier to ignore clickbait when it's about how "The snake people are ruining X and here's why!" or "You'll never believe what this snake person does." And then every few months it would appear on something I actually intended to read, stuff about the housing market or something like that, and I'd get a laugh when halfway through something completely serious it goes full on reptoid conspiracy.

Yeah. I guess the other thing too is that it may have the perverse effect of ending the game of "chicken" that goes on with forming actual IRL action. The thing that the nutjob mob banks on is that everyone they disagree with is stuck in some inverted variation of the prisoner dilemma: if everyone comes out we'd probably be able to win support. If only a few do they get mobbed lose everything. If nobody does nothing bad is likely to happen. As a result, nobody in these communities actually knows…

The issue is these tools are used by the sorts of paint huffing losers who get off on doxxing and harassment. If there is a massive data leak at reddit that contains personally identifiable information, the database of scraped data they use for this tool WILL be joined with that leaked information and other data to create indiscriminate IRL blacklists. Deleting comments, profiles, etc. will not save you. If you have posted in this sub or any sub in their blacklist, they have it archived. If you …

I'll say it is definitely adequate and competent. I've never had problems using it. That said, I never really used many extensions and features on Firefox and Chrome. The only extension I really remember using for Chrome is the one that replaces any instance of "millennials" with "snake people". That said, it's not as funny as it used to be because people don't complain nearly as much about millennials as they used to now that they are all over 25.

Why would you think any less of a single man who doesn't own a house? In this day and age, houses are for people who have settled or are in the process of settling down. Maybe 20+ years ago it was a sensible thing to expect of a fiscally responsible single man, but now homeownership is not an automatic consequence of good financial planning. I have enough saved up to either make a down payment on a decent house or live unemployed for 2 years without sacrificing any of my lifestyle. I'm not all t…

In my book, I don't care if it doesn't hurt-you don't hurt demonstrably helpless people, even if they are trying to hurt you. The first one that actually hurts is free, it's a misunderstanding we can walk away from. I'll lay you out if you do it a second time, though, since at that point you're evidently asking for someone to fight you. I think it's a decent unisex policy. Of course, I don't get into fights. Partially because I don't really enkindle much ill will to begin with, but also because …

I think it's more that the balance needs to be readjusted. I don't even consider myself mgtow because the resentment and mean-spirited rhetoric that festers in these communities is more or less the same kind of crap that made me ditch feminism. I'm here on and off because I am not overly eager to spend time and resources on relationships. We have reached a time where the cultural dynamics of sexual relationships have become woefully mismanaged, and it's something I don't want to invest in. I thi…

I think it comes down to "be the type of person you would want to date". I don't think there is anything patently wrong with sleeping around on a moral level. Live the way you want to live. That said, if you ARE the type of person with a revolving bedroom door, you can only expect that kind of person in return. Maybe you will luck out, but... Look, if you don't go to the gym, don't cry when the only people you seem to attract are out of shape. If you start tons of drama, don't be surprised if yo…

Better than my relationship with my dad. That said, my parents raised me in an authoritarian manner that rivals tiger parenting, and unlike most people who manage to rebel against it, they managed to keep me down until I went off to college. Mom basically drove my life in the day-to-day, and dad was more of the hammer when it came to bigger decisions. Then it just kind of turned into a rapid pattern of disillusionment in college. I was a closet libertarian when I went in since I had a quiet rese…

It's very similar to the old alt-right vs radical leftist game people played a few years back. Rather than a straight find/replace, people took quotes from a combination of alt right and feminist personalities, blank out keywords related to race, and then you had to guess which kind of activist said it. The best ones, though, are the quotes that don't even need words to be removed. One of the most challenging quotes was something like "black people shouldn't be police officers." It may have been…

This sounds like my ex gf. She managed to press me into the relationship by implying nothing was going right in her life and she would be suicidal if she didn't get what she wanted out of me. She originally started hanging out in my dorm through my roommate who was a mutual friend, and it's almost like she was even using him to force her way into my life. She alienated all of my friends (which she made her friends) by incessantly crying that she was suicidal because it wasn't the fairytale relat…

I would never get married, but if I did I would propose with an axe or knife. I think it says more than some dumb rock, with the explanation that I trust her enough that she would never use it to hurt me. I think engagements should be more personally meaningful than "yo bitch here's a fuckin rock". I mean, if the kid WANTS to wear a dress, sure. Otherwise, it's messed up just like it would be messed up to force your kids to go to school dressed up in other stuff that goes out of the way to be different. Would it be acceptable to force your kid to dress like Rick James or a 19th century prospector? It's not to say a kid should just be able to stomp all over the parents, but if you are going to limit your kid's wardrobe, limit it to what you can get in pretty much any common apparel retailer…

The numbers she is giving have some ridiculous or antithetical implications. For the sake of argument , lets assume a college has a 50:50 split of 100 men and 100 women (this is to make math easy, disparities come in the conclusion). To keep the numbers easy, we are going to assume everyone has sex at this college, women with exactly 1 partner on average and men with 3 on average (once again, even with decimal averages or fractions of the population, ratios are maintained throughout so we may as…

Is ok friend. I was a little kid in the 90s. Wasn't aware of jack shit outside of home and school until 9/11. I got to experience the animated television Renaissance and furbies. I wasn't even alive then, but it kind of seems like one of those decades that gets washed over with a saccharine family-friendly narrative that avoided talking about problems. Bad time to be gay, we were still in the twilight of the cold war, inner city gang violence was on the rise with the war on drugs, and a few other bits and pieces. If you Google Gillette ad on YouTube, you'll get most of it. The general gist is that the ad is preaching about how "men" as a collective have to be better because bad men exist and all men are evidently responsible. Words can barely do it justice, it's so dumbfoundingly misandrist.
/r/MensRights17/01/19 05:50 PM

I can't stand the "if you're upset you are the problem" thing. If that's how things actually worked, what does that say about the people who get upset by the deluded bullshit that incels talk about? What does that say about people who get upset when Trump talked about criminals coming over the border? That's not how it works. It's not how anything works.

I don't disagree, but I think the first step is sending the message that the ad sucks. If they nuke the department responsible for the ad, the message has been received. Demolish the business if they double down.

I already know that there are going to be a bunch of articles from the usual suspects using the downvotes as apologia for why we need feminism. The problem with this ad is not the entire message, which is kind of obvious to anyone who isn't completely clueless or disingenuous. Rape, assault, and harassment are bad. Men are role models for their sons. This is elementary stuff here that every *decent* person is aware of. I'm pretty bad at growing facial hair. I shave on Monday mornings with single-blade razors from the grocery store and I'm good for a week. It actually stays tasteful until Sunday, which is uncanny and convenient. My shave budget is something like $10 per year. Don't even use cream unless I'm bored.

I don't like labels other than "someone trying to treat other people with some decency and respect". I don't consider myself an MRA because I don't do activism. Still, I associate with the MRM because more often than not they actually have consistent interests in women's rights in addition to men's rights. Also the memes are actually funny. I would not conflate being anti-mrm with man-hating. Like how you can not like feminism and not hate women. Of course, when you say you can't be sexist to men, that's almost the default apologia for someone who is sexist to men.

That was infuriating to read. 1) The insistence that men need to work more and it's not an issue with female expectations is astounding 2) the insistence that men are participating in low amounts because they're just lazy. The data they had went through 2016, the tail-end of the effects of the recession in rural areas where economic recovery stagnated (you know, the part of the country that voted for a guy who promised them jobs). 3) The insistence that human productivity is an absolute good. Personally, I always thought it was funny that feminism may as well be a pormanteau of Female Chauvinism. I think feminism has followed the same pattern as every other socially affluent ideology-you start with some fringe moral community, and then when it presses into the elite echelons of society it becomes this huge pissing contest. You know, the social climbing game has become a game of out-feministing everyone else. If you espouse the most pure and virulent form of the ideology, you can conq…

I've said it a bunch, but... I don't date, but if I did I'd put out profiles looking for women who are no less than 6 inches shorter than me, within 2 years of my age, and make my salary +- 15k. This means you need to be at least 5'10", at most 27, and make at least 50k per year (special exceptions for doctors/nurses, accountants, and engineers). These are realistic expectations for a woman, right? In my case I would say it's fair because I'm not making a standard I myself don't live up to. By t…

Only Wiccans I knew were people who seemed desperate for attention. Like this one time (during the golden age of flip phones), at band camp, I somehow had a strange summer romance with this wiccan girl. I broke up with her at the end of camp because it was before social media really kicked off, I didn't have my driver's license, she lived 150 miles away, and my parents would assume the worst about what happened at band camp (when really we just kind of sat close on the couch in the common room, …

It's a total mindfuck that takes a while to deal with. I've been seeing a shrink for over a year for a similar issue. When you deal with this stuff from early childhood through adulthood, it creates this indoctrinated notion that you can't shake because you never experienced anything to the contrary. Right. I think it's stupid to judge by age when you can go by years driving. Sure, there are plenty of kids who do stupid shit while driving and there may be some kind of biological thing at stake, but there are also plenty who are absolutely paranoid and stay the speed limit in case the cops appear or you wreck your parents' car and then they have to kill you. I'm not saying to measure individual risks, but that immutable traits should be off the table. Instead of targeting men or women, you could look at occupation, where they live, hobbies, criminal record, or the things people actually do instead of the fact that they are born with a certain configuration. I don't like when statistics are held against individuals in demographics that are not a consequence of their decisions. It's a cornerstone of toxic identity politics. Well X group is statistical…

I'll be frank, it always kind of shocks me how insurance companies are able get away with discrimination against immutable characteristics like they do. I know they use statistics and stuff, but that's kind of the point: they're allowed to use collectively extrapolated data to apply it to individuals in a manner that is wholly discriminatory. Men may be ON AVERAGE more aggressive, but it kind of seems like they can apply that assumed characteristic to the most soft spoken men on earth and pass o…

It most certainly does make sense. If I were living in England, I'd be converting to pounds, and the monetary value would remain the same. That is a lot of money pretty much anywhere, and as I stated in another comment, if the costs of things are different wherever she is in Australia, it would be because there is a lot that is offered where she is living that you can't get elsewhere. It's cheap to live in some places and expensive elsewhere is because there is value in the location. It could be…

Mind you, the reason that these places are more expensive to live in is because the quality of life is higher. It's not like it's arbitrarily more expensive. People compete to live in these places because life in general is going to be all-around better. If it's so unfairly overpriced, it's a lot easier to move to a poorer part of the country than the other way around. People choose to live in these expensive places because it is a major convenience to the best paying jobs and access to some of …

I wound up looking up the numbers thinking that maybe several Australian dollars come out to a US dollar, but it comes out to roughly 0.75 USD. So, doing quick math, it looks like they had to look for some incredibly well-off upper class people to cherry pick a situation where the woman winds up worse-off. yeah, selective service is kind of fucked up as a concept when you take into account how much is held against men while women get all of those things without any kind of commitment. It's possibly even more fucked up than if women had to sign a document stating that in a time of war they may be drafted for forced reproduction... although with modern medicine that at least would have a lower mortality rate. One option to settle a civil dispute is to go through someone known as an arbitrator, basically an independent third party whose judgement is legally recognized by both sides. before I begin this rant, I'll point out I'm not a doctor. It's not due to lack of resources. It's because people aren't aware of the problems or else believe in zero-sum solutions, if not solutions that outright harm one group for another. In a situation where triage makes sense, say a plane crash, the problems are pretty easy to notice and the fixes are more often than not straightforward. Triage assumes you have a limited number of resources to work with. If there were just 1 - 10 people assigned to solving all of the social problems, then triage rules might make sense. This is an entire society filled with millions of activists. We don't need to funnel all of the attention at one place at a time. It's possible to help X group without any damage done to Y group. If you move over to IRL arguments with feminists, they also like to stack their side/gang up and resort to Gish Gallops. It's uncommon that a feminist will ever confront or argue with you alone one-on-one. They will deliberately try to have a "dialog" by engaging the individual with a collective. It's first and foremost an intimidation tactic, a bandwagon to try to appeal to popularity. I think that acceptance is a lot more widespread than people realize, it's just one of those silent majority kinds of deals. I hate to sound like a feminist, but I think that the rejection the legitimacy of mens' rights mostly exists at an institutional level, primarily due to the entrenched feminist agenda of rejecting mens' rights as misogynistic. The lion's share of gamergate was center left, as am I. It's not explicitly "right wing" to oppose feminism-unless you are a feminist who believes everything to the right of marxism is right wing. I wasn't even in gamergate proper, but I completely get what was going on because in the same timeframe I was combatting the nasty feminist shit that was unfolding on my college campus (gaslighting, "Reichstag Fires", editathons, mansplaining, a psychopathic charlatan spreading Peoples' Temple rhetoric…

I think that it is mostly a reaction to the boom in popularity of "nerdiness" about 5 years back. You know, back in circa 2011-2012 when suddenly out of nowhere everyone was wearing hideous clothing, bragging about how they are SOOOO GEEKY because they dumped 30 cumulative hours into a mobile game over the course of a month, and claiming that the Big Bang Theory was a good show underrated by the stupid people (I guess now it is Richard and Mortimer). This is basically like claiming that you are …

It's where you go when you come from a privileged family that coddles you into completely lacking useful skills and abilities. Tell the world: "no wait, please, I'm not useless I SWEAR - simply being (some female identity) is a SKILL. I am better than working as a waitress/cashier for the rest of my life." It's frantic straw-grasping that takes place during the threat of downward social mobility from the upper-middle class. Basically, buying a degree to tell people that you have a degree and the…

It's already been said, but there are these edit-a-thon events that were massively popular a few years back, and I think they still happen. They're hosted by pretty much every college feminist group to LET WOMENS' VOICES BE HEARD. It's easily one of the more insidious things feminists have been doing over the years. It's wrapped in apologia about a majority of wiki articles being written by men, and how that automatically means it's written from a male perspective that excludes women. Oftentimes…

Feminism is a buzzword used by disingenuous charlatans to push personal agendas in a public space. On paper it may mean some romantic ideal that sensible people should agree with, but in reality "feminist/feminism" is used very similarly to how the words "patriot/patriotism" were being tossed around 15 years back. Patriots are supposed to be people who serve the greater interests of their country and countrymen, but it was tweaked slightly to be anyone possessing unquestioning loyalty to the act…

Feminism may as well be considered a pormateau of FEMale chauvINISM. Not my original idea, but I wish it had more traction nonetheless.

I think it's more how the circumcision narrative seems to play out in public. The main reason circumcision was introduced in the US was so little Billy doesn't touch himself at night. Turns out, no, we're pretty much arbitrarily mutilating little boys and there's still cum all over the place. The apologia has only changed, now it's some crock about how it increases chances of certain illnesses in filthy neanderthals who never clean themselves. And to add insult to injury, foreskins are pretty lu…

^^Pretty much this^^^ -Not Rape. -She DID touch him when he didn't want to be touched. -That all said, if this was a story posted to certain feminist subreddits with genders swapped and OP was a girl who decided to "get it over with" when a guy gets her alone in her room, refuses to leave, and starts feeling under her clothes, they'd probably be sounding the rape sirens and textscreeching at anyone who says otherwise, compared to here where the people calling it rape are unpopular. -S…

I always saw feminism as an animistic religion. No gods, but a lot of beliefs that mirror how nebulously spiritualistic faiths behave. Patriarchy is bad energy, feminism is the middle path, etc. Unlike other religions of that sort, though, it's faith and shame based like a more western religion. It's what I would imagine it would be like if you combined something like Confucianism with something like Mormonism and then flipped the script so the ideology privileges women.

It ultimately comes down to finding an excuse to permit a double standard of female chauvinism among girls. The measures of "maturity" are a bunch of arbitrary measures ranging from ages of the onset of puberty to behaving more like an adult by some contrived and convenient metric. Would it be acceptable if gym teachers were smugly telling their classrooms that the boys are better because they're taller, build more muscle, or gain less body fat as a part of the human maturation process? Would it…

I've never been on 4chan, but I've inhaled at least 13 years worth of secondhand chan over the years as a result of being into PC gaming and the "actual" internet (you know, the parts outside facebook, twitter, etc). I can recognize chan when I see it is what I'm saying, and I comingle seamlessly with people who do chan. Only reason I haven't gotten on at this point is because I know I've overhyped the idea of my first proper 4chan shitpost and it's a setup for a massive disappointment. Anyways,…

Same here. That sounds a bit... odd. Though come to think of it, I would never be willing to do a "one time fling" with my ex GF because I'm next to certain that at some point she was conspiring to try to fulfil both her wish to desperately keep me in her life as well as her wish to become a mother.

I think equality of opportunity is good, but equality of outcome is ridiculous. People are measuring outcome and assuming it is caused by opportunity. A group of kids go to an ice cream shop for a birthday party, each kid gets $1. The price for a scoop of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry is 49¢. The price for a scoop of wacky flavors like birthday cake, rocky road, etc is 69¢. The price for toppings is 29¢. This being a group of small children, the girls have a clique and the boys have a clique. T…

I was in the scouts from 2003 and left as an adult around 2013. I did a little research to double-check what I had heard, and even I found a recent development I was unaware of, but more on that later. The Mormon church had always had pretty strong ties to the BSA from the start, and apparently Latter Day Saints (LDS) boys are pretty much signed up for boy scouts by default. That said, they managed to get a seat of real power in the 90's with the rise of the uber-conservative Christian right (yo…

As an Eagle Scout myself, I believe that girls should be allowed in the boy scouts. I've known a few girls who were in the girl scouts, and it's just not the same over there. The boy scouts are much more meritocratic and challenging. The boy scouts will teach you how to prepare yourself for just about anything and constantly improve your skillset. The girl scouts are basically a big friendly circlejerk that's riddled with a lot of participation-trophy-like rhetoric. If I'm not mistaken, I don't …

I still think the most glaring instance of cognitive dissonance is the lack of outrage over what happens to foreskins. They don't just go out as medical waste, they're used for all kinds of applications, most notably cosmetics. Foreskins are used as "cruelty free" means of testing makeup and skincare products. They're also used to farm collagen for a lot of high end moisturizers. We all know how absolutely outraged people get at female genital mutilation (And rightly so. What I mean, though, is …

I haven't seen it, but I would have thought it would be "feminist" for these things to happen to women in a movie. You know, because "women are normally killed in a "pretty" way on screen, then something something for the male gaze something". Women rarely get shot in the face or gutted on screen, and when it does it's treated as an exception that proves the rule because it's supposed to be more shocking than the dime a dozen scenes where men get decapitated, bloodied up, headshot, disemboweled,…

I mean, go after what you want... but understand that there are some caveats when you want these kinds of people and things: 1) Your expectations, while not impossible, are unrealistic. You are doing the relationship equivalent of looking for a house that is selling at half market value, and it's way more likely than not that when you finally get what you want it's not going to be the fairytale you want to live in. It's incredibly likely you are going to wind up with a guy who has lost any feeli…

Exactly. When I was saying men just kind of linger wherever there are women, I was mostly speaking to the likely motive and perspective of companies that over-cater to women and use muh-feminism for publicity. I think most men have a limit to what they're willing to put up with, and a lot of companies are pushing it (though you could probably still make that aforementioned fortune because there are some people who will buy any experience you put a premium label on). I think the truth is that as …

It reminds me too much of what I've always heard about the club scene. They use discriminatory admission policies and try their damnedest to get as many women in there as possible with free drinks or whatever. Then the high number of women is used to draw in gaggles of men who are not only expected to buy their own drinks, but also pay for the women. It's kind of twisted how they are basically exploiting everyone involved. Anyways, I think the motive here is disingenuous and altogether more sini…

She really sounds like she's abusing you. Has she told you you aren't allowed to talk to other women? Has she kept you from your friends in general? I don't mean once or twice being insistent about something she REALLY wants to do. I mean that she contests plans with your other friends more often than not-that you have to be accounted for like you're an employee working from home. I'm assuming she's not just sarcastically saying you should take pills in an unfunny worn out gag if it's something …
