I'm glad I could help! Just remember that social media is curated and often not reality--many manipulative men are excellent at putting up a facade. I hope the therapy helps, enjoy your level up! You've earned it.

Sis, I wish I could give you the biggest hug right now. It's tough when you feel like what you wanted was so close to being yours only to watch it apparently slip away. Please know you aren't worthless, so far from it. Your mind will play tricks on you. Your post could have been written by me a few years ago. Reread your post, and notice how much you fantasized about a man who wasn't even committed to you. He wasn't high value, it's just a mirage. It sounds like you may be struggling with malada…

I'm curious, if you were never together, why is this guy on your mind so much? I know how hard it can be to let go, but I think cultivating a distraction for yourself would be wise. Have you thought about diving into a new hobby? Learning a new language? Volunteering?

He's just trying to play her like he tried to play you. You are better off without him, even though I know it hurts and doesn't feel that way now. But time heals all, and be glad you found out who he was now instead of after 10 years of marriage. LVM can't fake it forever.

I'm gonna disagree slightly with the general consensus here and say, yes...kind of. It is possible for a LVM to become a HVM, assuming the reason for him being a LVM in the first place is situational and not character based. Eg, he's somewhat messy, hasn't established himself in adult life yet, doesn't dress in a flattering manner, is dealing constructively with childhood trauma, those can all be overcome but a manipulative, abusive misogynist who seeks to control and suck the life from you is n…

Out of a beer bottle? Lol no! But I do love the idea of a ring using an heirloom stone that was made just for me by my partner. A bought ring is one of many, but something handcrafted with love is special and precious. Just...use an actual stone and decent materials for goodness' sake lol.

Men simply don't fear female anger in the same way that women feel male anger Perhaps we should make it so they do. Ladies, you are likely not physically equal to a man, but your trigger finger is. More of us knowing how, and being willing, to defend ourselves against violent men will protect us all.

I don't think you're trying to be hurtful, you're simply making generalizations based on your past experiences. But many such generalizations, even if they started with a grain of truth, rarely serve any good purpose and clinging to them prevents you from growing. I can empathize with you. I was heavily bullied growing up. My tormentors were almost exclusively women, and their bullying was so much more damaging to me than the teasing I would sometimes receive from the boys. They would try to get…

Express this sentiment anywhere else on reddit, even the pro-women subs, and everyone starts drooling on about eNLiGhTeNeD cEnTrIsM. One side may not be as bad as the other, but that doesn't exempt it from criticism. Thyroid cancer may not be as bad as pancreatic cancer but they're both cancer and I want neither.

https://www.vidaselect.com/women It looks like they do have a version for women. Optimizing and proofreading a profile is one thing, but I'm not sure how I feel about them writing messages for either gender. It seems deceptive. The idea that they screen out losers is nice though.

No disagreement there, it's definitely the majority. Some women struggle with it too for sure, but I think it's easier for us to learn nuance. We also tend to actually, you know, care about people.

These guys have such low situational awareness beyond their dicks, it's amazing. How do they function? Like, I love "discussing". I love talking over ideas, including devil's advocate ones, because part of knowing what I believe is also knowing what I don't. I was with you until the last sentence which I found to be supremely fucked up, and I say this as someone who is staunchly childfree and would rather commit suicide than be stuck as a SAHM. It's in no way their fault when shitty men use them as bang maids and incubators. I do agree that many of the women who want a SAHM life tend to be younger and were often raised in a culture that force fed a paternalistic, submissive lifestyle to them with few other options, but with wisdom and cunning you ca…

I'm not the person you're replying to, but I think I understand what they meant. They, and I, are not saying you actually are disposable; you are a human being and irreplaceable. However, MALES see you as disposable. This is textbook ADHD. Ask me how I know lmao. It infuriates me how many men use it as an excuse. And somehow, it's ALWAYS men--the women internalize it and hate themselves and work so hard to be better but the men just dissolve into a puddle of useless. It's a hurdle and a disability for sure, I give them that. But it doesn't make things impossible. I'm very similar. I try to be a kind, empathetic person, and my goal every day is to take more pain out of the world than I put in. However, I must protect myself so that I can do this in the first place. I have definitely caught myself worrying that an ex or two wouldn't be able to find someone else. Then I realized, if they're a man of character, they absolutely will. I have one ex I would definitely consider a HVM--we broke up when he moved to another country for a fantastic career opportunit…

Oh man you would hate hockey lol I kind of feel the opposite, I love football but hate how infrequent it is. One game holds so much more weight, in hockey you can have a couple of flukes and the whole season isn't derailed. It makes football hard to watch sometimes. Why can't men fucking understand it's about the ability to control their anger? We all get angry, and we all have to express that anger. No one is saying shove it down inside and repress it, well, aside from toxic masculinity. You've gotta let it out! But... The difference between a person who goes into their basement and works out frustration on a punching bag and a person who punches a wall in anger is that split second of inhibition that says "no, not here." It's the ability to walk away and …

I support anything that allows people, male or female, to take greater control of their fertility. However, we must never forget that we as women face the highest cost here. We are the ones that risk our lives with every pregnancy, while men risk nothing. Male birth control should not change your current bc habits, period. A male pill should be a supplement, not your first line of defense.

No, they need to be here. Maybe not comment and just lurk, but how else will they have their eyes opened? So many of them are being used and abused by trash heaps that dare call themselves "men", and they need our help, love, and support. God knows they won't get it anywhere else.

Just a slight caution--money alone doesn't make someone "high value". I feel like "high value" gets misconstrued as a financial thing when it inherently isn't--it's about the character of the man. It's that a HVM is more likely to be wealthy because they have drive, intelligence, and wisdom, but money won't make a man driven, smart, or wise. Not trying to dissuade you from looking for a high earner, necessarily, but make sure you don't become forgiving of poor character just because someone has …

Hey. I can't offer much advice, but I can tell you that you're not alone. I just broke up with my bf of a year. I loved him, and I do think he loved me in the only way he knew how. But I couldn't deal with all the broken promises--my word is my bond and I expect the same in return. It really hurts, sis, but we'll both get through this and be happier and better off on the other side. It's OK to be upset, even if he wasn't a great guy. But never forget, you broke up for a reason. Which really is frustrating, because I liked bumble the best of the apps--I'm looking for someone compatible with my religious views and someone childfree. I like that I can see the information at a glance. Obviously they can be lying, but I think it's better than tinder where you have no idea of even basic compatibility. I don't think any other apps let you search for people who don't want kids :(

I've got a guess. It's apparent when you look at the world that men have the power, authority, and control over most sectors of life. It can be daunting and threatening, and most of us began to experience sexual harassment at the ages of 11, 12, or even younger. I think it's a (probably subconscious) survival technique, where the general idea is self-preservation by sucking up to/aligning with what seems to be the "threat": strange men. They see how horribly men treat women, maybe if they were s…

Dude, I'm former military myself. Let me personally assure you that people who work at the NSA are not trained to kill. They are computer nerds and linguists and there is definitely a non-zero number that have never even spoken to a woman lmao. Same for State Department. Aside from the Marines that guard the embassies they are also most certainly not trained to kill. Most of them are paper pushers. Real life isn't a Bond film.

I think the idea that we all feel loved and express love in different ways is accurate. I've dated guys who showed their love for me by helping with chores and tasks to make my life easier, for example. While it was wonderful and I was grateful, my main love language is words of affirmation and sometimes it could cause a communication disconnect. It'd be like him telling me over and over in Japanese (a language I don't speak) how much he loves me--the message will be lost. Just as if his love la…

I've heard it as you need to see someone sick, angry, and grieving, although I like yours too. I think seeing someone when they're angry or grieving, at their most vulnerable and weakest, really tells you a lot about that person. Imo, it's important to see how someone feels about weakness and feeling/being seen as such. Do they react with wisdom and humility, or lash out?
