Some FRs are like this to me. Some outlandish story about buying a girl a drink and having sex in front of everyone on a beach. While it is possible, it seems really unlikely to be true, at least in my experience. I don't want to have "a limiting belief", but I just don't believe this story.

Actually, me and my friend have tried picking up girls by dancing with them many times, so in my opinion we have thoroughly tested this tehnique. Something like this worked a few times for him, while it never worked for me. In fact, I did it just the way you say that we should do it. No girl has ever taken my hand, ever. On the other hand, I've had good success with chatting girl up. Basically starting a conversation and going on from there.

In my case I feel like my buddies prevent me from approaching. We're constantly somewhere where there isn't much going on and they don't want to go anywhere more interesting because they like standing, drinking and staying in their comfort zones.

You brought up a good point, actually. You always hear about guys buying drinks for girls, so I guess it could be considered a norm. I've lately started going out more, and realized how overpriced the drinks are in clubs. I'm already reluctant about buying myself a drink, no way I'm buying one for a stranger.
