It is a lot low. He'd probably need 3000 to maintain, so 2000 is incredibly drastic. He could do 2500 and still see results. 3500 is exactly a pound, but 3000 and 500 cal of exercise will work too (and that's how most people do it)

No. Not unless that's all you want and don't plan on having children. In moderation they are fine, but they distract from improving yourself

I think the point he wants to make is that there is no use upsetting yourself about variables you cannot influence.

I noticed this about two years ago. People don't communicate or speak with individual words unless the person outs very self-aware or has thought about such a thing before. Most people speak in phrases, idioms, or sayings and as you said it, you can tell what media a person digests because some terminology is specific. It's similar to how a woman using the word "problematic", "misogyny", and "shitlord" in the same sentence may be a red flag.

It was at this point the evidence weighed heavily enough that this was a troll-post. There were a lot of buzz-words, but the autistic bit removed a lot of plausibility.

Self-improvement can go viral in certain friend-groups. It can be a meta-thing that isn't really discussed, but the effects are obvious and people will join you if they see your success.

I've found that the more educated groups have an appreciation for it. Also, individuals with healthier world-views. (criteria would include self-motivation/discipline and ability to make friends with others and spot healthy/toxic relationships)

There is actually a book for that. It's called "Made to Stick". Also, "Switch" and "Nudge" handle similar variations of the phenomenon of making changes stay. What I did was just keep all of the stuff in mind. I read it slowly and internalized each thing over a period of a few days. I did it when I was very young, so that helped.

I read this book when I was about 17. I had naturally internalized a few of these rules, but taking all of them to heart made be a better person and gave me a very positive aura to go with my charisma.

I had to make the mental change out of necessity. I knew it wouldn't work unless I did. It's not like I disliked being dominant, but rather that it wasn't my favorite thing.

I have success with this, but It's with an LTR. Basically, I didn't even bring out a desire for submissiveness until much later in the relationship. I actually phased it in. I showed an interest in dominating her. (I had a lot of natural alpha tendencies, but I began doing a few things differently removing a few of my more naturally beta tendencies) I suggest that she try being dominant at times too. Go back to being dominant. Occasionally suggest the power-switch. (Sometimes she'll take initiat…

That's how I stopped smoking ganj. I kept an "in case I break" stash and took it one day at a time. My goal was to not smoke that day. I could do it the next day, but not right then, and I would push my discipline one day at a time.

I just got a smartphone this year. Actually, 2 months ago about. I had a regular phone before. I guess I just kept the habits, but I don't get distracted with it. I don't play any games on it because I know they aren't enriching or the type of fun I enjoy. You can have a phone, but you just have to work on your habits with it.

Emotional intelligence is an important bit of semantics. It is the driving factor behind a person's success. It is the difference between short stints of happiness and a life of virtue.

Additionally Jim's words to Bob "thanks for letting me taste the beer, you wanna finish it?" was an attempt at powertalk. He was trying to play off the beer. While it was not a very smooth attempt, the point was there. Powertalk usually seems to reference conversation/lines delivered with the intent where the actual words are less important than the message. Another great example would be how people may try to vie for dominance in a group setting at a bar. What they are saying may not be nearly …

Tenderness is the best way to handle someone that has been abused. Never snap. Not only does it illicit bad memories, but it is actually breaking frame. You should not need to impose your physical strength on her unless defending yourself/something/someone important (Pride is not). Instead, try explaining things verbally first. Do not raise your voice. Do not fall for or become distracted by strawmen/unrelated greivences (my biggest problem). Without raising your voice state the facts of what's …

That's actually a good point that is often missed about women in the work-place. Its original intent was not to keep women from working because the system wanted to keep women down. Originally, that was not the intent, but after it no longer became necessary to protect women from unsafe conditions most people in the workforce were unaware of how the tradition started. Culture is funny. It was well-intentioned at first, but people forgot why they didn't want women in the workforce and used the fa…

I understand where you're coming from, I really do. Your behavior can stay the same (not prioritize women) but your motives/reasons for doing so need to be different. Instead of it being 'behave this way to get laid' it should be 'do not prioritize women because I have important personal improvement to do' and that is what works for me. You still give that same vibe, but you can sleep better because your motivations are different.

While this is true, I try not to do what others have done to me. The whole eye for an eye-> blind society thing might be a cliche, but I like to abide by it. I think what OP is looking for is a way to deal with the guilt that reddit puts on people that suscribe to TRP (probably one of the most hated subs). I find that you can use TRP theory and still be a good person. It's not called being an asshole; it's being your own person, and we as a society (not just men) have been made to feel bad about…

It works. Growing up slightly BP and learning from those experiences was enlightening. A significant portion of the population fits the models that TRP describes, so I figured I'd use most of what I deemed as true and tweak the rest.

If a person isn't getting a regular sexual release I hear this can cause problems with the prostate. I assume that a man who isn't regularly having sex that is also getting prostate cancer also has something else going on. Maybe they are obese, or do not eat healthily, or do not exercise. That said, I believe pornography should be treated the same as any drug. It can be fun, it has its time and usage, but do not let it replace reality. "The blood of the covenant (friendship) is thicker than the water of the womb (family)." She's your family, but you don't have to like her. Shit, you don't even have to be around her. If she's a toxic influence remove her like she is cancer. Do not make an effort to contact her. Just let her initiate. If she makes any effort other than trying to use you for shit then that might mean she cares about you. If not, I don't think it's even worth the trouble.

I am in a relationship with a very responsible woman. We share most expenses. I would venture to say that she even pays for more things than I do. I would talk about it in a private setting. If she says something about how the man should pay for everything I would try to reason with her. If that doesn't work just leave her. Be warned, you'll probably get shit for that move.

We are are nation of too much. People are born without limbs, the ability to use their own bodies, an innate psychological disorder where they can't trust their own sanity, and a host of other deformities-and they ask me to pity them for living a life of too much luxury? That's exactly what I think it is. We are not depressed because there is suddenly an epidemic of people being wired wrong and being depressed because of it. We are depressed because our brain recognizes that this way of life is not rewarding. We are not experiencing the richness of life as we should. I should add, that in a system that becomes increasingly self-aware while modifying its behavior it begins self-adjusting as it adapts, and the speed at which the meta adjusts, recognizes, and adapts increases until the system is smart enough to have obtained an enlightened or greater understanding. It develops the ability to recognize and completely understand itself. Once the system knows this it will already be at a state of equilibrium (until new elements are introduced) and will not need to…

I don't assume that people are completely influenced by experience. I do think it plays a larger role than genetics. As for facts, I would have to look at more research. The apparent effect cultures have on people's behaviors or desires gives a lot of credibility to Social Learning Theory.

Hmmm, are these views that are held by genders (let's generalize that these unique gender preferences are prevelant) products of the nature of each gender, or things that are taught by societies? /r/TheRedPill10/12/13 01:46 PM

Well, to a degree this is what luxury brands do by proxy. Actually, I would believe this is what most do. The quality of a luxury item is not reflected in price as often as people think. Marketing and reputation is what gives these items their luxury status. Whether that reputation is derived from the people who wear them, or the quality itself is dependent on whether or not the item is luxurious in quality or only in image.
