1	Need advice on maintaining proper form while working out at home keep your hands no wider than your shoulders, put them a bit below your shoulders, at breast level. You can test this: lay on your back, put a weight in one hand, move it up and down slowly. Put the other on your breastmuscle and feel in which weight-position it contracts most. This is the position you are aiming for, both with push ups and with weights.
