Thanks for pointing out the detail!

The devil may be in the details. In the episode, the plaintiff states she "can't" work because she must attend to her disabled son. I don't believe she's referring to the mutual son, who is living with Dad. I think she may be accusing the defendant of abusing her child from a previous relationship. On a good note, I don't think JJ was buying it either.

Valid point. Thanks for your input. Happy New Year.

Thanks for fixing that for me. That's the word I was looking for.

I think by wording it as "warmer gestures", it evokes standard, social exchanges. You're correct; it is a coin toss. This means one has a 50% chance of how one is received. Stronger still is the 100% chance you'll take you're business to another retailer that understands good customer service.

I think it would benefit the retail location if you would share your experiences with management. No store wants to lose customers because of shoddy service. A concerned explanation emphasizing your viewpoint & a solution may help solve the problem for you & others. "Hi, can I have a moment of your time? I find this store convenient because of its (pricing/location/selection). I'm sure you appreciate my business as much as your female clients. Lately, I've sensed that I'm not as welcomed here wh…

IMHO--Your post is best served under r/relationship. The woman you were dating was clearly manipulative, but you didn't post 1 thing that would label her a feminist. Your rights as a male in society were not infringed upon.

My observation is that career wage is a matter of workforce supply & demand, not the employee's sex. Fields that pose an inherent risk to the employee, require skill or knowledge, unfavorable work conditions, and/or unstable hours have a lower workforce number. Employers must pay higher wages to attract & keep those employees. I don't think changing an employee's (whether male or female) perception a career will change a field's wage. Traditionally-male careers are paid more than traditionally-f…

Your observations are, sadly, correct. I'd like to point out a fallacy in your last sentence regarding maternity/paternity leave. May I suggest you look into the US Department of Labor Family & Medical Leave Act? Under certain circumstances, employers with 50+ employees must provide an eligible employee with up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave & group health insurance each year. The Act doesn't include wording about which sex is eligible, so both parents should take advantage of it. Although the curr…

Thanks for posting a compendium of links. I posted on my FB that the 77% is false & heavily based on career choice.

IMHO--There should be no political attachment for the move to a more egalitarian society. In the last few decades, the Left has tried to garner votes by appealing to women's personal drives, such as being able to further one's education, provide for oneself, & reproductive rights. The Right has tried to garner votes by appealing to women's social drives, such as protection of the family. Unfortunately, the men's voices on the very same issues has been ignored by both Parties' drive for votes (& …

Where I live, we have curbside pick up where private residents must provide their own trash cans. The issue is not the sex of the waste collector, but rather, the height. Too tall or too short can lead to repetitive motion injuries. (Had a friend apply & was rejected for being too tall for the job).

Is anyone familiar enough with English law regarding section 2, as it pertains to 1-1c? (2) Whether a belief is reasonable is to be determined having regard to all the circumstances, including any steps A has taken to ascertain whether B consents. Doesn't that mean "regret" allegation is considered?

IMHO--she is not f@cking nuts (hear me out here), though I do agree with your film analogy. Like most abusers (males and females), she is insecure, which leads to desperation. This is a learned method from previous family dysfunction (females and males). Should you focus on the audio rather than the video, Ms. P!nk is not justifying her actions, but working through it. Most victims fall for it. DON'T! The victims (females and males) need to realize that this is not for them to repair. I know I d…

Thank you for responding. Upvote for your note-worthy points. I will have to look into how federal influx toward Title IX entitlement during that period influenced post-secondary treasuries. On a sadder note: During my quick search, I did find this interesting federal court case Sharif v. New York Education Department of scholarships being "more equitably" being awarded to (an already pro-feminist) class skills rather than (egalitarian) standardized testing.

I recall hearing a piece on NPR a while back that post-secondary student loans were federally subsidized. Repayment was based on actual income rather than actual costs. This allowed students that truly wish to pursue a valid career that benefited society to do so without saddling them with too much debt. Say, for instance, two students entered a public university to study social work with a focus on underprivileged youths (potential yearly salary of U$ 20K/year) & civil engineering (potential ye…

I always suspected that the change in school tuition had more to do with the increase in educators' salaries, rather than the Title IX subsidies you suggested. I was able to find from National Education Association's report of Faculty salary report that the average salary increased 40% between 1989–1990 to 1999–2000. The Chronicle of Higher Education a similar increase between 2000-2012. I would surmise, based on the numbers given, that this accounts for the increased cost of post-secondary educ…

My interpretation of the news article is that it's not an accomplice, but rather the former partner. "Police said the girl told her mother she had been abused by the woman's partner. Disbelieving the girl, the mother had grabbed a rifle, given it to the girl, and tried to point it at the partner, saying "shoot him... do it". "Her co-defendant is also charged with indecently assaulting the girl." Either way it's a screwed-up situation, with the media using attention grabbing headlines.

You're correct. This morning's paper reported that it was the ex's new boyfriend that called in the bomb scare. The beau was upset that the victim had posted some rather "personal" photos of the young lady on his own FB account.

Destruction of property is viewed differently than assault & battery. Law enforcement probably viewed your friend's girlfriend willfully destroying property is a civil matter, & not worth the paperwork. The fact that she went into his room indicates that this is not a domestic issue, as most state laws are written. I'd still take pictures & contact the station for another officer for an incident report so that your friend can take her to small claims court.
