I'm not making excuses. He's suggesting to be open minded when I already am. I'm not dismissing things without trying them. I'm trying things, finding what I like and don't like, and supporting what I like and dismissing what I've found to not like. How is that making excuse?

Do your best not to pass judgement at all. So you can't have an opinion unless its in favor of the subject matter? Isn't the whole point of "don't knock it till you try it" to allow yourself to create an opinion rather than pre-judging it? Or is there as an assumption that the person will like it because they tried it. There's no way they can try it and then proceed to knock it? Why do you refer to it as shit if (in your own way) it is what you enjoy doing? Referring to something as "your shit/m…

but don't knock it until you've given it a fair shake. I live my life by these rules. I give everything multiple tries before I pass judgement on whether or not they are good or bad. IMO I am bored to death with art history. I'm the same way with music. I don't understand why people like the Beatles, Freddie Mercury or Michael Jackson when I've given their music a try mutliple times. I don't understand why Hunger Games, Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones is popular even though I've tried those mult…

I'm hazarding a guess that perhaps you like adult cartoons or anime (that's fine) but don't wear that on your sleeves. Go to art museums/institutes and learn about art history in any way that holds your interest. So I have to hide the things I like about art and force myself into the SHITTIEST part about art (museums and art history) in order to be able to use it as an identity? That sucks. I'll have to consider it.

Sadly from what I've experienced, women who go out on the weekends could give less of a shit about an artist/cartoonist.

I just got back. Couple things. There must have been something about me as I put off about 90% of the women there. I opened and flirted with many women. But with most of them it never really went anywhere. Very few were interested in flirting back (I can give details if needed). Something new though, I had hated going to clubs and bars with dancefloors as I'd never get to dance with a woman or if I asked they'd always say no. I asked 5 women to dance and I danced with 3. Thats 3 more than I've e…

So, you need experience to get a job, but need the job to have experience.

Me too. I'm on year five. Tried pickup/seduction my freshman and sophmore years. Did nothing for me. Want to try it again.

Should alarms be going off if I don't do that sarcastic asshole talk with friends?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
