There’s also the 1 in 5 women on college campuses have been sexually assaulted stat, I’d have to find it but the firm that conducted it said it was not a representative sample at all (it was only done at three schools) and they also used the broader sexual misconduct/Title IX definition instead of the stricter criminal definition
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates22/04/26 03:36 PM
4

The majority of the stuff mentioned is basically what the basis of the majority of Title IX cases is, as the definition of sexual misconduct is super broad
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/04/26 12:56 AM

In short, third wave feminism allowed women to escape their gender roles in all areas: men aren’t allowed to escape theirs. And women can also flex between the traditional roles and escaping them depending on the situation and the potential benefit

I have experience with Title IX, which while much more inclusive and often less serious suffers the same issues (especially in my case). And analysis has shown that the adjudication process has an even greater negative impact on disabled men and men of color.

Gotta love double standards lol

As someone at the very very beginning of Gen Z and who’s never had sex (I turn 29 in two months), I think your summary in the second paragraph is spot-on. I have a lot of self esteem and self acceptance issues and I was so aloof in high school and college and grad school because of that (well it was either aloofness or extreme pity pleading). I’m also on the very high end of the spectrum too and generally introverted. A lot of my problems arise from never engaging with anything I did since I rea…

Now let’s see hiring bias, I think there’s a lot of that going on in my situation. I didn’t have a lot of grading issues because I intentionally took the easy classes with the most empathetic professors lol
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/04/26 02:58 AM

Guess that’s why I’ve never been a fan of activism myself, I have low self esteem and horrible self acceptance so I can’t stand that kind of behavior and people lol
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/04/26 02:56 AM
1

Yeah, just check out any of the ludicrous Title IX cases, they are full of these kind of conditions and symptoms
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/04/26 02:54 AM

Yes, I think that hits the nail on the head. I recall seeing something here I think that said that like 45% of Title IX accusations were completely baseless. And then at least half of the rest are not black and white situations or have ulterior motives probably
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/03/26 05:57 PM

There is also stuff like my own experience, where you add ulterior motives on top of the false accusations
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/03/26 05:54 PM

From what I understand it’s only a small group of people and it’s not directly affiliated with/a part of the party itself

In reality it’s whatever way the wind blows in terms of stuff that will either help them hold men down or just benefit them in general, usually at the expense of men
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/01/26 02:55 AM
2

Because of benevolent sexism and the power of feminism- they made it so this stuff is basically intrinsic/essentialist to men even though they claim to dislike it, and a lot of times they actually like it since it obviously benefits them and changing/eliminating gender roles for men would require them to make significantly changes both societally and personally that they obviously don’t want to do (there are biological and sociological ingraining aspects but there seemed to be not as much pushba…

Or an inherently bad/flawed person who deserves their plight because they aren’t good enough/don’t work hard enough
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/01/26 07:38 PM

That’s why I always would call the Radfems the tradfems lol, it was obviously the exact same thing
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/01/26 01:30 AM

And they won’t recognize men’s issues as systematic because many women would have to change their wants and desires to change the system, even though they really should want that
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/01/26 01:29 AM
3

The more liberal peoples’ view is one of the biggest problems I have with the entire discourse, they say they want sensitive and different men but in reality they still want the traditional stuff and think those guys are still odd or creepy or weird or whatever
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/01/26 02:35 AM
2

And also her husband is some kind of hot model guy so it’s definitely cakism
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/01/26 06:05 PM

As if women can’t have those same qualities, they just manifest differently
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/01/26 03:03 AM
2

And just being in a romantic relationship doesn’t necessarily do anything, it’s more about feeling accepted, wanted, and desired. There are many not so good romantic relationships, but the more important part is the feelings aspect, which you won’t necessarily get in a bad relationship anyway. And the entire thing being about romantic relationships is probably why many feminists and women are so critical of it because they won’t recognize or accept that fact, that they have to play a part in fix…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/01/26 04:18 AM
21

But they’ll never admit that they do like those traditional masculine qualities if they find the guy attractive
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/01/26 07:46 PM
32

Imagine if this was reversed, people would be so pissed
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/01/26 04:04 AM
5

Especially when toxic masculinity is used to describe normal male behavior/sexuality etc.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates12/01/26 06:15 PM
14

Well it’s kind of what they get when they castigate any kind of masculinity or men’s issues as an internal problem/issue on guys parts. Not to mention that the rightoid picture of masculinity now is the fakest macho shit ever
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/01/26 03:24 PM
5

Basically just being a stoic pushover to whatever women want and never complaining or expressing emotions and if you do have problems it’s all on you because you must be intrinsically bad- it’s basically the same as the right wing view of it just more explicitly misandristic
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/01/26 05:24 PM
8

This also just reflects the stupidity of the right wing conception of masculinity (in terms of the perpetrators) it being just as stupid as the radlib definition of it but it’s actually destructive. The two sides are the same dead end
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/01/26 04:08 PM
5

And feminism for men would also necessitate actual breakdown of gendered expectations/roles for men, like we don’t all have to be the provider or make the first move and all that kind of stuff
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/01/26 09:37 PM
13

Given my own experience with Title IX, I had no idea that that person had said that 40-50% of all allegations have absolutely no substance. If you add on how many times there are ulterior motives (like my own) or just bitter/regretful people who can’t accept responsibility for themselves or accept when things don’t go their way I’m sure that would be the great majority of cases
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/01/26 09:35 PM
9

It’s between that and them not realizing that women and their behavioral trends and desires have pushed men into a corner because it’s such a tight box of acceptability
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/01/26 06:43 PM
44

Well arguably all idpol has, any kind of essentialism for any identity characteristic, plus the hypocrisy of saying everyone cares about all people who struggle but some people deserve it or have lesser challenges (mostly in the gender space). And misandry is a big part of all of that.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/01/26 05:44 PM
2

In relationships, yes, but a lot don’t seem to want to do that so they avoid romantic relationships or get out of them if they’re too emotionally involved. I wasn’t talking about those who actually would care and not care about that kind of online bullshit
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/12/25 03:39 AM
5

And then expression of said emotions can run the risk of you being seen as emotionally insecure and creepy and weak and all that, especially by certain women. It is possible to take it too far (I did this in the past and got into trouble with it) and my stuff wasn’t entirely gender-based (I didn’t understand socializing and I still struggle with self hate and low self confidence and self esteem), but a very sensitive or emotional guy like myself should get some benefit of the doubt, especially w…

It’s more something that you have to meet the therapist to know, like someone who isn’t totally in on the woke stuff and mainly only seems to care about helping people through their job, it’s more of a sense thing
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/12/25 06:03 PM
17

Yeah, they’ll still consider the second group as creepy and weird and undesirable and off-putting and aloof and what have you
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/12/25 05:14 PM
2

Yeah, it should be focused on action steps for men, it’s a way we’re different than women. I know this may sound offensive but the more “normal” the therapist is the better
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/12/25 05:13 PM
9

Yes, technically, but to a lot of women/feminists it’s only because they’re not responsible for emotional labor in a relationship, either romantic or platonic. It’s really a weird manifestation of the “just suck it up and fix yourself by working harder” mentality
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/12/25 05:11 PM
20

And then it turned into going after men who didn’t have any malicious intent or for stuff that really wasn’t criminal or men who struggle or are different
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/12/25 04:24 PM
5

Yeah, it really just manifests itself in different ways, even though it comes down to the same tenets- women are wonderful and should be defended and provided for, men aren’t successful because they don’t work hard enough or aren’t man enough, and so on
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/12/25 04:58 AM
7

I don’t think it’s much better for people like me (I’m 28.5 and at the very beginning of Gen Z technically) and especially because I’m in the public sector, which is supposed to be super meritocratic but it isn’t always
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/12/25 03:13 AM
21

Remember, if you don’t succeed as a man it’s because you’re not trying hard enough and the system is already rigged for you /s
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/12/25 05:04 PM
18

Just look at how neurodivergent, especially autistic, guys are perceived socially and romantically. It’s really any guy who doesn’t have good confidence or self esteem or is uncomfortable with themselves really.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/12/25 12:29 AM
1

I was mainly talking about it in the sense of people who game the system and exaggerate stuff who probably could actually work as opposed to people with effecting conditions
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/12/25 08:43 PM
9

No, I just have to write a proposal to get into the program, but that’s what I’d like to study most, I’ve always been interested in the benefits application process due to direct family experience and I realize how difficult and annoying it is for those with legitimate disabilities as opposed to those who try to game the system
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/12/25 02:32 PM
6

I’m applying for PhD programs in Public Policy and this is the general issue around my research proposal- improving the evaluation process and making it so much easier for people with legitimate disabilities/conditions to get benefits
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/12/25 02:29 PM
4

I meant in the sense of they want men to experience everything bad men as a whole supposedly did to women in the past, it’s not about equality, they just wanted to have the upper hand/power
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/12/25 11:21 PM

The two biggest things of concern to me are that feminism is basically just about turning the tables and revenge anymore and that men can’t escape their traditional gender role (though women can and often revert back to the traditional gendered roles and behaviors if it benefits them). And then lastly people tend to think men’s problems are often due to them not trying or working hard enough, it’s all about them.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/12/25 06:02 PM
3

One could argue equity feminism is the only good form of it, but apparently since that’s conservative or libertarian leaning and self responsibility focused it’s not real feminism
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/12/25 03:59 AM
3

I always love how radfems claim they’re different than libfems and the like but in my opinion the two are much more alike than different, the former is simply just way more forthright about their misandry
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/12/25 03:58 AM
11

I think it’s just an extension of people (especially women) just not liking guys who are aloof. I’ve always been like that due to low confidence and self esteem and even though I don’t have exact physical evidence and it’s a lot of my own stuff, it still feels like very few people actually know who you are and like you’re not desirable or interesting. This is probably a different variety of aloofness in and of itself but it’s still something important in my opinion. And lastly to your point abou…

It’s a combination of hyperagency and men being seen as intrinsically bad for having challenges, both of which are obvious sexism
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates26/11/25 01:43 PM
13

The other thing about supposed male privilege is that it really only is a privilege for certain men, and far from a majority of them, it’s overgeneralizing a whole group of people and denying the existence of legitimate issues that men face
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates22/11/25 05:42 AM
22

As to your last point, that is definitely something that happened to me. I thought that if I was super emotional and not masculine then women/girls would just like it and they’d make all the moves and it’d be so easy to get a relationship and have sex but it was the total opposite, you just get seen as an entitled manipulator who can’t do anything for themselves/has no personal responsibility or agency (though I will admit I did do some stuff that was stupid and extra)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/11/25 02:49 PM
12

I don’t think any of that is necessarily bad either, I think it’s more that men feel like they have to be their idealized/optimal self to get romantic interest whereas women can just be their actual self and don’t have to be more than they already are to get that. I don’t know if that will ever totally change but it’s something to heavily consider.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/11/25 02:07 PM
9

It just sounds like the terminally online definition of it all, I see that verbiage like men are terrifying because they only want to have sex with me and will do anything to get it so therefore I have to be constantly afraid of SA so that justifies the misandry and men ain’t shit and all that
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/11/25 01:58 PM
7

As if every man is so corrupt and powerful, that’s not even close to the case
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/11/25 01:02 AM
2

I’m not saying any of that is true at all, I was just adding to what crappy excuses/reasons I’ve heard from feminists, that don’t talk about atomization really or feminists wanting the good parts of the male gender role while eliminating entire parts of the female gender role and the like. And they don’t seem to recognize that women have always tended to enforce social norms across history so yeah it’s a lot to do with them
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/11/25 03:11 PM
4

According to feminists/annoying women online, it’s that and that men aren’t emotionally intelligent and women don’t want to “man keep” and be a guys emotional rock. It’s atomization at its finest, that’s an important part of any intimate relationship. And then you get all the contradictions about what women say they want and what they actually want especially in the post MeToo era. And men must be lonely because they’re misogynistic and emotionally unintelligent or otherwise flawed and should ju…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/11/25 02:41 PM
6

If you want to be enraged look up this recent buzzfeed post on instagram for an article about why women refuse to date men anymore and read the comments, it’s awful and an encapsulation of all this crap
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/11/25 02:31 PM
4

In their world “nice guy” simply means entitled to a woman’s time and attention. And since almost all men only really want to have sex with them at any cost in their eyes they must be a threat too
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/11/25 02:27 PM
4

I always see that men don’t know how to express their emotions and should just go to therapy because it’s not a woman’s responsibility to serve as an emotional rock/supporter (even though women tend to be more emotionally intelligent and are somewhat biologically ingrained to serve that role)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/11/25 02:25 PM
3

And women/feminists will say two contradictory things all the time because of this, they want men to be emotionally intelligent but don’t want to shoulder their partner’s emotional burden, which basically just means “don’t be emotional around me.” They want all of the “traditional” gender roles reversed with all the responsibilities/things they don’t like picked out
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/11/25 02:24 PM
1

I just feel super self conscious about it all since I’ve never had sex and I’m 28.5
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/11/25 04:37 AM
6

And they do that because they can get empathy/sympathy easily from that, whereas if you’re male it runs out pretty quickly, I tried that before when I started college and it ended badly (the Title IX case). A lot of times they just give you the bootstraps/you aren’t doing anything to help yourself spiel (even women) or just think you’re creepy and manipulative. I honestly was a bit emotionally manipulative because I wanted people to feel bad for me because I didn’t understand socializing or the …
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/11/25 09:32 PM
6

Yes, I know a lot of this firsthand, I’m not explicitly autistic but am technically on the spectrum and though I wasn’t forthright about it at the time, I think it was a big reason behind my Title IX case. They’ll always think you mean the worst even though it’s more because of socializing challenges. You can try to socialize but they read awkwardness or reservation or self-isolation or shyness or wandering around between different people and conversations, especially in romantic/sexual situatio…

For me it’s just very temporary, and a lot of things that would help me feel better are things that those people wouldn’t/couldn’t help me get (as much as I want others to do the difficult things for me)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/10/25 02:50 PM
1

I’ve done this in the past, not necessarily in an exclusively left wing space, but it turned out very badly for me, because people have a limit and will just think the worst things about you if you continue to do it (especially if you don’t do much for yourself, that’s another thing completely that doesn’t have to entirely do with gender stuff and is something I did not understand and still have trouble getting over)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/10/25 02:49 PM
2

It’s like are we supposed to be emotional and sensitive or are we not? It’s so confusing, and modern society being so atomized and viewing most relationships as disposable if you can’t handle someone’s shortcomings or weaknesses
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/10/25 02:47 PM
4

For me personally, it wasn’t so much things that explicit but the simple derision coming from being an insecure and sensitive guy with struggles and challenges. People think the worst things about you, that you’re not enough/entitled/creepy/weird/dependent, especially when you express you feelings surrounding that (even though I admittedly didn’t understand a lot of things about socializing and putting effort/my piece into things and did manipulate people emotionally). But at the same time I had…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/10/25 02:45 PM

Because as we all know men are judged for what they have or what they can provide while women are valued for who they are on a personal level
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/10/25 03:28 AM

Ana is pretty heterodox when it comes to sociocultural issues, she and Cenk always kind of have been. I recall a long while ago watching a clip where they went off on how ridiculous Title IX kangaroo courts were after some guy at an HBCU was accused of something right before graduation and they refused to give him his diploma even though he’d finished all the requirements
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/10/25 12:35 PM
3

I would say more misunderstood than anything, and it wasn’t blatant, but with my Title IX I think guys who struggle like me (even though I admittedly was kind of manipulative) with socializing and confidence and self esteem are seen as less than or odd or strange or creepy or even threatening
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/10/25 10:19 PM
2

Yeah, Greek life is like this, regardless of its other issues. Sororities are great and can get away with a lot but a frat does one bad thing it’s basically instant probation
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates30/09/25 11:00 PM
9

Because they’re not the kind of men specific women want, hypergamy and all. They only want to be approached by optimal men. Even though I saw a statistic that said 77% of women would like to be approached more often
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates30/09/25 10:58 PM
5

And positive masculinity is basically the same thing just with the sexes reversed, it’s just a passive form of traditional masculinity
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates30/09/25 10:53 PM
1

I received a masters three years ago and I’ve really only worked for a total of like a year since then, because the jobs I could get have mainly been low paying and boring and don’t have much upside. I want to work in public policy but I don’t really have a lot of experience or practical skills and I know it’s my own fault because I always wanted the easiest way and to do it my own way, and then I didn’t understand socializing which made everything harder. And I don’t know how to move forward
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/07/25 03:18 AM
8

As others have noted many times on this sub, you can’t win with this stuff. You either get criticized for not being a man or entitled or a “nice guy” if you want/prefer women to approach you or you’re just introverted or have low confidence, but if you try it’s easy to get derided as a creep or someone who wants to take advantage of women
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/07/25 02:13 AM
27

They think every issue is just “messaging” anymore, they have little interest in actual policy on anything, including this
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/05/25 03:27 PM

I know this is based on the UK but on average women out earn men in almost every major US metro area
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/05/25 03:25 PM
9

That idea is pretty prevalent in the types of articles that I’ve seen about that, it’s just the “blah blah issue, women most impacted” thing yet again
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/05/25 12:33 PM
4

It’s similar to how a lot of “life on the spectrum” things are often self-diagnosed “high functioning” women who don’t seem or never seemed to have a lot of trouble making friends or belonging or fitting in or having romantic relationships
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/05/25 12:28 PM
6

You can’t forget men still being expected to be providers and make a lot of money and have stuff going on and be confident and assertive, especially in regard to romance, despite feminism saying that men should be more sensitive and emotional. I don’t have any issue with women making more money than men or them being the breadwinner because that’s how it was for me growing up and it really isn’t a bad thing at all, but expectations should physically change (or we could ensure that men are paid m…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/04/25 07:30 PM
6

And they won’t recognize the other aspects of traditional masculinity that they desire, like wanting men who make a lot of money and can provide and protect, even though the movement tells them they should want the polar opposite. They still often subconsciously derive men’s value based on what they have, can do, and/or provide instead of who they are as people
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/04/25 07:23 PM
10

Yeah- read the comments on Scott Galloway’s most recent instagram post on dating, none of the women will recognize that they are attracted to men with money and status and say it’s because men aren’t emotionally available or mature. Plenty of men are the latter but it’s hard to get over the biological desire for that kind of protection and those qualities and attributes
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/04/25 06:56 PM
3

Men and women should be appreciated for whoever they are as individuals, not how they fulfill gender roles and ideals, no person or society should determine one’s value based on that kind of stuff
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/04/25 03:39 PM
2

Yeah, it’s just dishonesty. It’s okay for a guy to use traditional traits and methods to attract woman and have sex but when a guy doesn’t want to use those strategies they must be immature or misogynistic or entitled. Feminism tells women that they should desire the non-traditional man but often times biologically they don’t (this isn’t true for every woman either). As someone else commented here, “nice guy” also began to conflate actually entitled and manipulative men with guys who aren’t as t…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/04/25 03:37 PM
2

It’s just a tactic to prevent themselves from admitting that many of them are indeed attracted to traditional masculine traits and qualities and roles, even though they and the movement as a whole also say those types of men are assholes and other negative traits and sensitive/emotional men are desirable. A “nice guy” is a way to describe those non-traditional men who aren’t viewed as desirable, even though they claim to desire those men as opposed to the stereotypically masculine ones
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/04/25 03:27 PM
4

One of the biggest issues to me is that they will complain about that stuff, but not admit that a lot of those type of guys have what they actually desire (the traditional male traits). Like you say you want sensitive and emotional guys but then you really don’t, because “incels” often tend to be like that and they’re not “masculine”
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/04/25 03:21 PM
11

To me it just means “doesn’t want to adhere to traditionally masculine values and qualities or is simply not masculine in the way we want them”
/r/MensRights13/04/25 09:36 PM
3

It’s a hard time finding a woman if you just don’t have those traditionally masculine traits, or confidence or self esteem or extroversion. And a lot of women aren’t going to want to change to go after that type of guy, because those traditional qualities and roles can often greatly benefit them
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/04/25 01:00 PM
8

And then you can’t forget about discrimination against neurodivergent or “different” or sensitive men, regardless of sexual orientation. We get derided as creeps and the like and we always get the worst thought about us and no understanding (even though many feminists claim to be so accepting and inclusive)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/04/25 12:58 PM
10

A lot of times they just want the roles reversed when it comes to their perception of history and past society/culture- men used to do all of this bad stuff so it’s time for women to have control and take revenge on all of that. Not to mention that in their eyes whenever women struggle it’s either men’s or society’s fault but when men struggle it’s because they’re intrinsically bad or weird or creepy or whatever other negative adjective/label
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/04/25 12:52 PM
7

That’s traditionalist conservatism for you lol
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/04/25 12:42 PM
19

“Positive masculinity” is really just “try to negate all of the negative parts of masculinity while keeping all the positively perceived stuff that tends to benefit women”
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/04/25 12:40 PM
4

They’re just spitting out the stereotypical right wing idea of masculinity, bootstraps and self sufficiency and the grindset and being an emotionless island and all that
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/04/25 12:38 PM
5

And then there’s the fact you can get maligned as a creep or a sex pest or whatever even if you don’t mean harm or you simply struggle with socializing or being comfortable with yourself
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/04/25 04:41 AM
4

That’ll never happen, because they view men and their issues as signs of their inherent badness or inferiority, and that they deserve to be lonely or isolated because of that
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/04/25 04:38 AM
5

Just look at the large amount of Title IX/MeToo cases that were some combination of regret of consensual activities (even those influenced by alcohol) or thinking guys are weird or creepy
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/04/25 04:34 AM
21

And then they try to write off misandry as just “women going their own way” and refusing to date/marry men, as if that’s such a great thing (and also hypocritical, since we know how the male version of that gets treated)
/r/MensRights02/04/25 02:44 PM
24

Most likely stupid, because men’s issues don’t only exist because they cause violence, they cause isolation and misunderstanding and all of that
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/04/25 12:10 AM
3

The laughable part is that feminists won’t recognize that women play a role in constructing the patriarchy, because many women are biologically driven to desire those traits. We need to help men escape their gender roles and have more widespread acceptance for doing that, especially in romance
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/04/25 12:09 AM
26

I’m not so sick of it because I too am lonely and technically an incel but I’ve repressed it and don’t bring it up to most peers, I’ll only talk about those things to my mom (who was somewhat like me in having those types of experiences later in life, like dating and sex) and my therapist and one friend (I really don’t have many friends anymore) Because most people will consider it negative or not even get it. I’ve admittedly had anger issues and stuff from being on the spectrum and I’ve directe…

I technically work in the HEAL field and the pay admittedly does really suck, but I think helping to detach men from their traditional gender roles would do much in this, it’s either that or pay men in those fields a lot more
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/04/25 03:35 AM

Marcus Knight, if Title IX stuff counts
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates30/03/25 09:36 PM
64

It legitimately has a super broad meaning anymore, and I suppose that’s somewhat intentional. It really just means “guy who I don’t like or agree with” or “guy who has legitimate struggles or gripes or challenges with developing romantic/sexual relationships.” I think these people would be floored when studies on incels show that almost half of them are nonwhite and that the average incel is left leaning
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates30/03/25 01:20 AM
1

Or simply just desirable or likable, that was most of my Title IX, it had very little to do with anything sexual, it was just that people thought I was creepy and didn’t like me and all that
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/03/25 07:35 PM
2

100% agree, both sides really want the same thing from men, just manifested in slightly different ways. No one wants what many of us here want, which is for it to be totally okay for men to escape their gender roles
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/03/25 07:31 PM
5

How about “women have agency and shouldn’t use SA to cover up for bad decisions/experiences?”
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/03/25 07:29 PM
15

Also do not forget ulterior motives, especially when it comes to informal stuff like Title IX
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/03/25 07:25 PM
39

All of my bullies/the people who hurt me back then were girls too
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/03/25 11:38 PM

I don’t think there’s any problem with being a “nice guy,” especially when there’s no explicit rules or requisites to attract a sexual partner in todays world, apart from confidence and having something going on
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates22/03/25 03:29 AM
3

A caveat to that is that men who struggle with reciprocation for whatever reason also get derided as being entitled, you can’t seem to win. Like others will reach out to you and you interact but if they don’t understand that that’s a challenge for you they’ll just perceive it as you being an asshole or a manipulator or a “nice guy” or whatever other negative label (I have direct experience with this, as I didn’t understand socializing much when I was younger because I had tended to avoid it and …
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/03/25 01:32 PM
25

It’s similar with how introverted or not so confident/low self esteem or neurodivergent men are considered creepy or weird just for being who they are or trying to be social. They will always think the worst and that you’re trying to take advantage of other people, especially women, for pity and sex or whatever. I did admittedly take advantage of people in the past like that but it wasn’t necessarily intentional at all, it was what I felt I had to do to make social connections
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/03/25 04:52 AM
1

It’s the same thing in America, and many of us (including myself) may seem okay on the surface but we’re not- that’s kind of how it’s been my whole life. Like yeah, I have a masters degree and initially attended an elite university before I transferred but my social challenges were never really recognized
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates11/03/25 12:51 PM
5

The issue I see more often is that guys, especially those from diverse backgrounds or who have personal challenges/disabilities, are castigated and punished for interacting with or having sex with women when the latter takes something unintentional or well meaning the wrong way
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/03/25 03:22 AM
40

Based on my own experience, I would encourage everyone who believes that what they are accused of is wrong/misconstrued etc. to go on the offensive when it comes to that, to counter the complainant’s claims by saying they are totally wrong or blown out of proportion or whatever in the first place and almost counter-accuse them of lying or trying to convince others to be on their side or whatever
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/03/25 10:11 PM
4

They’re not interested in liberation or equality, they just want the hierarchy switched to where men are on the bottom and where women can do to men what “bad” men have supposedly done to women for all of history and generally get away with it
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates26/02/25 05:03 AM
3

Yeah, they perceive society as hating traditionally masculine men as a problem, but what of the not so traditionally masculine men like myself
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/02/25 02:31 AM
23

It’s just lip service to men’s issues, when they just want men to fit their traditional roles in a different way
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/02/25 12:51 AM
1

And then add on other things on top of that, especially neurodivergence type stuff or being introverted or just not traditionally masculine. It’s even worse
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates22/02/25 06:52 PM
4

The most difficult part about this I think is that many women/feminists will have to face the facts on biologically-driven stuff, do they really want men to be able to escape their gender role or do they not want to give up their romantic desires for a guy who fits those roles or even the social ones (like not considering men who don’t fit the norms creepy or weird or offputting or whatever). I think this is a big roadblock to concrete policy change
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/02/25 01:38 PM
2

And then there’s the flip side when women say they want men who don’t fit the traditional gender roles but then really don’t like that type of guy, especially in a romantic sense
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/02/25 01:34 PM
11

Shoe just calls herself a Huey Long-ist left wing populist lol
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/02/25 05:41 PM
2

I don’t mind it being a choice for some, but it shouldn’t be an expectation. I hate that no one is really interested in freeing men from gender roles while also allowing them to have success in life or career or romance at the same time, because it seems like you need to have those traditional traits to have that
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates30/01/25 03:41 AM
5

It’s the same thing with socially awkward guys/guys who aren’t comfortable with themselves or have low self esteem/confidence. Also when women perceive unintentional mistakes or awkwardnesses as sexual misconduct, that doesn’t help
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates30/01/25 03:39 AM
2

I don’t think this is happening because they’re actually conservative, it’s just that the woke feminist elements of Dems are outwardly misandristic while Republicans at least pretend to recognize and care about young men’s issues (even though they really don’t)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates22/01/25 06:20 AM
5

Yeah, I know that firsthand, many women either don’t like and/or consider weird/creepy guys who aren’t outwardly confident or are socially awkward/uncomfortable with themselves
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/01/25 08:33 PM
15

However, women also often reinforce/desire traditional masculinity and they can pick and choose when to use more traditional gender roles and qualities
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/01/25 09:29 PM
14

The biggest thing for me is that the problem is not that we “lack purpose,” but that we are often discriminated against for showing our own ideas of purpose
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/12/24 03:01 AM
2

You can’t forget ulterior motives, I think that’s even more so than lying or feeling regret
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/12/24 11:47 PM
10

This is why I’m more gender critical in some ways to be honest, because I think a lot of men have been driven to transition because of misandry and women not liking non-traditionally masculine men and society not supporting/understanding sensitive/not confident etc. men
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/12/24 10:02 PM
2

Yeah, if they really wanted to win it’d be economic populism and sociocultural moderation, but the donors/corpos want the neolib/neocon consensus and wokeshit mixed together
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/11/24 04:50 PM
2

I was going to post Lee’s Unherd article that they discussed on here along with Warren Farrell’s Op-ed on the same topic here, along with that study showing all of men’s issues from a year ago that both used to elucidate their arguments
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/11/24 04:48 PM
18

Yeah, between the misandry and the fact that I’m more common sense moderate on sociocultural issues overall it’s hard, plus they’re not populist economically since I’m much more left on those issues than them
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/11/24 04:46 PM
16

I read this when it was posted on Stupidpol and it’s just criminalizing and denigrating masculinity and male sexuality and regular male behavior and interests, but that’s to be expected from super libs I suppose
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/11/24 04:44 PM
11

Yeah, in my experience it’s been either a creep or a weirdo or something like that, like we’re secretly perverts or whatever
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/11/24 08:05 PM
81

One of the reasons I turned against woke stuff was that I have Asperger’s and I was never afforded the superficial benefit of the doubt toward stuff, especially in social settings and organizations. I think a lot of people thought I was weird beforehand and when I expressed my struggles I just got branded as creepy. Though admittedly I did some stupid stuff on my own
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/11/24 09:59 PM
5

Because many women, even if they claim to be progressive and liberal or whatever, will always be attracted to those traditional masculine roles and qualities. I’ve had a lot of thinking recently regarding whether I should just say fuck it and fulfill that role or be my more authentic self
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/11/24 09:10 PM
1

This is one of the biggest issues I think we all face, and especially as someone who isn’t super masculine or doesn’t really want to fulfill all those roles. Even a lot of liberal/left wing commentators just suggest making it easier for men to achieve those old roles and stereotypes
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/11/24 09:08 PM
4

I think there’s a middle ground/another archetype for masculinity but I don’t know exactly how to describe it- it includes a wide variety of men who aren’t super masculine but aren’t feminine either
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates12/11/24 03:49 AM
11

Yeah, even though this might be odd I think some women are reading the writing on the wall and actually caring about men and masculinity and all that
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates11/11/24 02:03 AM
4

I have been really trying to debate whether I should just suck it up and follow the male gender role because I keep hearing this stuff about people who don’t want to/can’t follow it
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates11/11/24 12:28 AM
9

I think that’s where my dad heard it from, he said it was maybe Scaramucci on Scott Galloway’s podcast
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/11/24 01:36 AM
12

I even think a lot of younger women are pissed about the lack of masculinity and stuff to be honest, which could be a good thing if it doesn’t fall into the tradcon paradigm
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/11/24 06:40 PM
28

Most modern feminism is just female power at the expense of men tbh
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/11/24 06:38 PM
40

Especially even when those supposedly “progressive” women end up preferring/liking traditional masculine qualities anyway. I don’t have an issue with that just don’t promote something that’s an utter blatant lie, as I and many others will take that to heart and then fail romantically and sexually
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/11/24 06:38 PM
26

My dad heard something that women may have voted for Trump more because they have sons and the Dems absolutely did nothing for them
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/11/24 06:36 PM
21

I’m trying to stay away from social media regarding politics, but I’ve been on here way too much the last few days because a lot of the men’s issues impact me directly despite me voting for Kamala. Especially since I’m basically an incel and a virgin at 27 who’s never dated anyone and has very few friends or long term connections
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/11/24 04:56 AM
4

Yes, I think men would greatly like and benefit from that economic populism very much
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/11/24 06:21 PM
11

But lots of women did vote for Trump so I think part of it is that they’re somewhat over the wokeshit, but then it could be the economy. I think Gen Z girls are more about having fun and enjoying life and aren’t as concerned with activism. But I fear they just like the tradcon view of masculinity more, which is bad
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/11/24 05:25 PM
8

No I’m not talking about he himself I wanted him to call out mainstream libs for doing it
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/11/24 03:59 PM
2

I don’t think the problem is that people/guys are legitimately creepy, it’s that a lot of people (especially women) call men who have legitimate challenges or differences with socializing creepy or think of them as such. I have firsthand experience with this being Asperger’s
/r/PurplePillDebate08/11/24 08:03 AM
46

I wish he would’ve added men’s issues and not demonizing men to this, because everything else is right on the money
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/11/24 06:13 AM
1

It’s called left wing populism, you need to go left on economics while moderate on social issues. Also not alienate and be hostile toward men obviously
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/11/24 05:40 AM
4

There’s an article on Stupidpol about the 4B movement coming to America so I’ll have to share that here
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/11/24 05:28 PM
18

Neither candidate truly cares about men’s issues, it’s just that Trump did outreach, especially towards younger guys and tried to appear like he cared about men’s issues and interests
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/11/24 06:55 PM
52

I think it’s deeper than that, we need major cultural change that recognizes that men struggle and have lots of challenges and that women are responsible for themselves instead of blaming men or patriarchy or whatever
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/11/24 07:12 AM
69

Because women aren’t upholding their end of equality, plain and simple
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/11/24 07:10 AM
172

They need to learn how to relate and appeal to men because nothing they did this time around worked- drop the girlboss feminism shit and misandry
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/11/24 06:43 AM
51

Incel has lost all of its actual definition, it mostly means just “guy who isn’t totally onboard with modern feminism” anymore
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/11/24 07:01 PM
1

Basically just that women don’t like men who don’t fit a lot of traditional masculine traits/stereotypes, even supposedly “progressive” women. Also those qualities being perceived as creepy or incel-ish or potential school shooter like- all of this stuff came from my Title IX case so it’s really just that
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/11/24 06:59 PM
2

And usually what they tell men to be isn’t what they actually want men to be anyway, it’d be a lot different if they ponied up to it
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/11/24 06:56 PM
3

And then still desire more traditionally masculine men anyway, it’s a weird reverse psychological form of penis envy
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/11/24 06:54 PM
8

And that understanding basically comes down to “men inherently bad/stupid/etc”
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/11/24 06:48 PM
7

The whole campaign has really been by girlboss college educated women for that same population
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/11/24 06:47 PM
2

Most of them would probably say it’s all men’s fault and of intrinsic reason but then criticize men as weak/pussies/undesirable/weird/incels etc. for expressing their issues and feelings
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/11/24 03:40 AM
8

I know this is pretty MRA red pill framing, but it’s the equal rights mean equal responsibilities paradox in action. Many modern women/feminists want all these rights but don’t want the responsibility for themselves
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/11/24 03:37 AM
17

The paradigm i see is that women are simultaneously strong independent girl bosses and helpless victims and can basically choose to be whatever dependent on the situation, and they’ll get support for being either of those archetypes
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/11/24 03:34 AM
8

I’m more familiar with the college campus centric stats but those were based on an extreme extrapolation of a specific study that the researchers explicitly said could not be representative. Also they include basically anything and everything as “sexual misconduct”
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/10/24 02:44 AM
28

Yeah, it’s not so much on legitimate policy/economic issues, rather that the sociocultural left is super misandrist and that anything men do is toxically masculine/masculinity is bad overall
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/10/24 12:55 AM
30

Misandry- there’s much more going on with divergence between genders than races, especially if you look at the racial breakdown (men are shifting right pretty much regardless of background, and we probably all know why)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/10/24 11:34 PM
6

Reminds me of my own case where I was found “responsible,” except that in my situation I don’t think it mattered whether things were true or not, my accuser and people she associated with didn’t like me and thought I was a threat/a potential shooter and they just wanted me off campus- it had little to do with anything sexual. It just shows how there can be ulterior motives and a lot of times it’s not exactly about sex-related stuff. I admittedly did some stuff that was stupid because I didn’t un…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/10/24 05:22 AM
15

It’s not even bisexual men only it’s any guy who is introverted or sensitive or struggles with socializing or is neurodivergent or anything like that
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/10/24 03:30 AM
19

Many women will never recognize the influence they have over this stuff because many of them desire the physical, mental, and emotional traits of traditional masculinity (as much as many of them deny it or claim the opposite to want sensitive and emotional guys)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/10/24 03:11 AM
6

Also that you can’t be successful romantically/sexually if you’re not super masculine and also straight, I think that’s a huge thing- especially in my own life/experience
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/10/24 03:09 AM
3

Yes basically, there’s a need to be stoic and unemotional and tough and politically conservative among guys because of an often subconscious desire to follow male gender roles and qualities because the risk of not doing so leads to the social repercussions you mention as well as not achieving masculine related goals
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/10/24 03:07 AM
12

That was basically my entire Title IX case, my accuser used her social influence among both guys and girls to make them think I was weird and a threat and all. Not saying I didn’t do anything stupid because of not understanding socializing and everything but it didn’t warrant that kind of response
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/10/24 04:18 AM
136

It won’t be better until they realize men have legitimate issues and it’s not because they’re intrinsically bad people. Having a male therapist can help a lot though
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/10/24 04:15 AM
7

Can’t forget women being able to choose things based on what benefits them. Like “positive masculinity” being when masculinity benefits them or choosing between being totally independent and capable or a total victim dependent on the situation and people involved. And also how men’s issues/problems are all a reflection of their intrinsically bad selves, and that sensitive/socially awkward/neurodivergent men often get derided as creeps and weirdos for not being socially skilled and confident
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/10/24 05:45 AM
8

What I get from stuff like this is that we should focus on things like economic populism that transcend identity and either don’t mention identity at all or do hardcore appeals to men and their issues, both of which would probably require perceived “moderation” on sociocultural issues, and those seem to trump everything else sometimes
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/10/24 05:43 AM
11

I think it’s just that modern liberalism is tied in with feminism, misandry, and other forms of wokeshit which all openly disdain men’s issues and men themselves. It’s not so much policy itself it’s sociocultural issues and most of those are women-centric (I personally think there needs to be some moderation on those issues for liberal and left parties to win for one, as well as men being afforded the opportunity to actually experience liberation from their traditional gender roles and expectati…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/10/24 05:40 AM
31

And it’s all really about sociocultural issues, and a lot of it is because men aren’t afforded the opportunity to escape their gender roles and be more “liberal.” And then conservatism is masculine coded today, which is bad. I’ve seen it a lot with all of the ex jocks from high school, it could be something with intramasculine competition maybe
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/10/24 08:53 PM
18

“Positive masculinity” is just another term for traditional masculinity that benefits us (women)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/10/24 04:09 PM
1

No one wants to be assaulted or harassed or objectified, but men do want to be desired just as much as women, we’re all human after all. I just think women, mainly because of hypergamy, have a hard time understanding male sexuality and desire. We want women but also want women to have the same kind of interest in us. And I don’t think women mind it as much if it’s “desirable” people to whom they are attracted. I guess what I’m trying to say is something others have said, that being sexualized an…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/10/24 04:31 PM
2

You just can’t win- it’s a horrible combination of hypergamy and women’s refusal to admit that they want to be desired by men (even if they make up excuses like “it’s okay to be sexual, but not to be sexualized”)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/10/24 04:25 PM
9

I’ve also heard about how Trump has appeal to men of color, especially Hispanic and some black men
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/09/24 06:14 PM
9

While they want men to have all of their old responsibilities and expectations. Also that women can choose to be strong and independent or total victims dependent on the situation whenever it benefits them
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/09/24 02:34 AM
40

Most of what modern feminism wants for men is basically just benevolent sexism, that’s for certain
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/09/24 04:45 PM
3

One of the big problems is the definition of “harassment” today- I think for a lot of those who say “women are dressing provocatively for themselves” really mean they only want certain men/men they are attracted to to recognize it, while “undesirable” men are harassers and creeps and all
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/09/24 04:40 PM
25

Yes, I fit into both of those categories so I know. Also sensitive, not traditionally masculine men, men with confidence issues, insert anything “different” in there
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/09/24 02:44 AM
45

Yeah, the movement tends to view you as either an incel, a creep, or a “nice guy” or anything negative coded, especially if you actually have legitimate challenges with socializing and romance (I would know a lot about this)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/09/24 11:42 PM
2

That’s it, many women will never really let men escape their gender roles. All I’ve ever wanted is for a girl to initiate everything (preferably one who I find attractive and isn’t disabled)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates30/08/24 05:05 PM
1

I am one of those guys too- I had seen the thread as well, but didn’t look too much into it apart from the superficial popular comments. I know how bad it is and how you get maligned for wanting social and romantic and sexual connections, especially when you have Asperger’s and anxiety and low self esteem like I do. And how those things have made me more reluctant to put myself out there and simply just avoid things that are/were uncomfortable and difficult for me. And then all you get is either…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates30/08/24 05:00 PM
2

On top of the health impacts of loneliness, they say it’s worse than smoking
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates30/08/24 04:54 PM
6

I’ve learned that “toxic masculinity” is really just code for undesirable or unlikable men, same as how “incel” is used in the same way
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates29/08/24 05:01 AM
18

No, if you branch out, you probably get called an incel or a sex pest or that you think you are entitled to sex or a “nice guy” or any of that kind of stuff
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/08/24 04:44 PM

💯
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/24 04:37 PM
20

You could apply that line of thinking to any guy who isn’t “traditionally masculine”- sensitive, introverted, on the spectrum, effeminate, you name it
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/08/24 04:34 PM
18

That’s basically the whole background of benevolent sexism- they like traditional masculinity because most of the time it benefits them, especially in romance

Benevolent sexism strikes again- especially in regard to romance, a lot of women won’t even go for sensitive or feminine men if they’re straight
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/08/24 02:13 AM
9

Yeah, especially because of benevolent sexism- women can benefit a lot from traditional masculinity and they like that (as we can see in romance when many women go for the more traditionally masculine types despite them saying they want a sensitive guy or whatever)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/08/24 03:09 AM
7

And then undesirable introverts just get derided as creeps and incels and weirdos and all that kind of stuff (and I would know lol)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates22/08/24 04:23 AM
6

I think this is a lot more true if you substituted asocial with introverted and sensitive
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/08/24 07:24 PM
8

And at its core their views are just about returning to traditional masculinity
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/08/24 02:33 AM
5

Even some aspects of liberalism are- I was just watching a Scott Galloway clip and he was basically like the main solution to solve the dating crisis was to find ways for young men to more easily make a lot of money. A lot of times it just seems it’s the same traditional masculinity type stuff regardless of political ideology
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/08/24 02:26 AM
2

It’s not even just in relation to physical attractiveness, it’s more overall desirability/likability. If the guy is more desirable and/or likable they can get away with so much. Less desirable/likable in this case is more inclusive, because it includes neurodivergent men, guys with mental health issues, socially awkward/unskilled men, guys from other cultures etc. And we all know no one will tackle the elephant in the room, that many women are attracted to traditionally masculine men, even if sa…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/08/24 05:57 PM

Horribly, but the supposed sexual misconduct was really a proxy for other stupid things I did (but they weren’t really worth being expelled or disciplined over imo)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates12/08/24 02:51 AM

They love traditional values when it benefits them, same as with feminism itself
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/08/24 12:00 AM
3

Why I call radfems “tradfems” in a nutshell lol
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/08/24 11:59 PM
1

Empathy for any man who struggles is a lightning rod, even if you meet the woke categories
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/08/24 11:58 PM
1

And then we men often get castigated and ostracized for expressing our emotions, you just can’t win, it sucks both ways
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/07/24 05:03 AM
2

And having the traits you mention is often perceived as negative, like if you’re not so confident or have trouble socializing you’re either viewed as creepy and/or a threat even if you have a legitimate reason behind your challenges. I have a ton of experience with this, because it was basically my Title IX case
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/07/24 05:02 AM
2

I think men who are viewed as creepy will always have this stuff, even if they don’t mean it. I know firsthand, because of my Title IX case that really wasn’t about anything sexual, I did do some socially stupid stuff but I didn’t mean any real harm or anything. I’m on the spectrum and have anxiety by the way, but I hadn’t accepted the former at that time
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/07/24 12:40 AM
3

And then you still are criticized/ostracized by others for not being competitive or on the top of the social ladder as a guy
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/07/24 02:52 AM
30

Shoe is cool, that guy isn’t lol
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/07/24 12:47 AM
2

But even those who have toxic and self sabotaging beliefs it doesn’t mean those guys are irredeemable
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates11/07/24 02:36 AM
8

I think that’s really any type of relationship anymore
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates11/07/24 02:31 AM
2

And that’s the main reason why we’ll never get anything true about incels, because of those assumptions
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/07/24 03:40 PM
4

Men should be accepted for whoever they are, and women the same. But I think we need to promote that idea within the realm of straight romantic relationships
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/07/24 04:24 AM
7

Or just where not being socially/romantically desirable in some way automatically means you’re some sort of misogynist or creep or incel or any of those labels- it doesn’t add up now and it wouldn’t add up then
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/07/24 03:02 PM
4

Or really just making judgments of men when they aren’t confident or have good self esteem or social skills overall, and thinking the worst of those men even if they deserve understanding (I’ve had lots of experience with this)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/07/24 02:12 AM
15

And then conversely how men/boys with self esteem/confidence issues or social skills challenges or neurodivergent conditions are often considered incels or creeps or threatening or whatever other negative label
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/07/24 02:04 AM
22

It’s just the “male feminist” page, that’s basically it
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/07/24 01:15 AM
20

There’s also a flip side to this, where anything that could happen to a woman could never be her fault or she could never have any responsibility for being in a certain situation or position
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/06/24 02:42 AM
2

I just meant it was a social psych study
/r/MensRights02/06/24 02:51 PM
12

I’ve seen/experienced the flip side to this, where men who have wanted women to like them or to seem good or whatever take whatever women say about a certain guy (me in this situation) at face value and exclude the guy. And this all tends to be that guy is creepy type stuff
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/06/24 02:20 PM
3

Yeah, more masculine guys who express it will get derided as “toxically masculine” or overly aggressive while more sensitive/less masculine guys will get derided as creeps/incels
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates31/05/24 02:37 PM
1

Or in ambiguous cases or times when it’s regret based the man is always wrong and the arbiter of it all
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates31/05/24 02:34 PM
2

Just look at all the Title IX stuff- “if you regret sex or had one drop of alcohol your ability to consent totally goes away and then it’s SA”
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates31/05/24 02:32 PM
3

A lot of times it’s basically “be open about your feelings but don’t complain about them or ask for help because that makes you a creep or an incel.” While many women will still tend to go toward that more frat guy type
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates31/05/24 02:29 PM
2

I don’t know lol- they all say alcohol completely ruins your judgement anymore so that’s part of it
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates29/05/24 03:42 PM
1

Yeah, I’m a guy who lacks confidence/self-esteem and social skills/experiences and am not good with initiating and reciprocating and all that and I feel I have no shot with romantic relationships or anything, I’m almost 27 and still a virgin and have never dated anyone
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates29/05/24 03:02 AM

I’d say even Level I guys have it rough, we’re probably subconsciously considered creepy or weird or “incels” or whatever by many women and then they influence other guys to think that way. Because as you mention we’re not socially desirable. I know this kind of stuff all too well, even though much of it also has to do with my total lack of understanding of how socializing and life in general works/worked. I’m 27 and still never dated anyone, never had sex, I’m unemployed currently, don’t have a…

I have not felt that I fit in really anywhere or with many people. Feeling not traditionally masculine isn’t the only reasoning behind it but it’s a strong factor. I was really socially stupid and sensitive and I think I was looked down upon for it, but I was also very aloof and in my own world. I tried being really sensitive and open about my emotions but I think I manipulated people too much and didn’t understand socializing and putting effort into things, I was consumed by fantasy and avoidin…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/05/24 08:32 PM

To me, as someone who has been introverted and aloof and all that, I think the criticism of men who are the opposite is generally superficial and hypothetical, as many women still subconsciously desire those types of guys
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/05/24 08:25 PM
27

No I understand that, I was just saying that we should at least bring it up and show that non traditionally masculine men are still men and valuable and should be desirable
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates29/04/24 12:19 AM
39

As I’ve said in many comments on here, all of those slurs are really used to just deride “undesirable” or “different” men or guys who have challenges when they try to act more conventionally masculine . The only people who can get away with it are guys who are either attractive/desirable or gay
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates29/04/24 12:15 AM
66

Because many women still want traditionally masculine traits, plus a lot of our demands require them to change their minds and desires (which many feminists in particular don’t want to do)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates29/04/24 12:13 AM
34

In my experience, “toxic masculinity” is mostly used to criticize men who are different/undesirable or have challenges with socializing or have personal issues. They’ll say it’s for things like fraternities and hazing they do during pledging but I knew plenty of girls at college who still went to frat parties and hung out with/desired guys in them. The types of men I described (of which I am one), will always get derided for being more sensitive or emotional or for trying to be more traditionall…

/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/04/24 03:07 AM

Just another way how feminism reinforces traditionalism. And I know this stuff firsthand- they claim empathy and understand and they’ll just screw you over, this hurts disabled/mentally and socially struggling guys and men of color or other backgrounds
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/04/24 03:06 AM
7

Or justification for being considered weird/creepy/an incel or any other negative label
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates22/04/24 03:51 PM
7

It’s mainly due to ignorance and people, especially women, still looking at men who aren’t traditionally masculine or who struggle but still desire masculine things as inherently flawed and/or irredeemable or just simply undesirable (i.e. they brought it on themselves). Plus we men are often looked down upon or have negative labels placed upon us for opening up or not being “traditionally masculine”
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates22/04/24 04:48 AM
8

I’ve said this many times on other threads/posts but I agree with your sentiment, it’s that despite how many women/people say they want a sensitive or emotional guy they don’t really want that. And men who aren’t so confident, have poor self esteem, are insecure, are “different,” or who have challenges will often be derided or looked down upon or considered weird for being that way despite supposed desire for it. And that all our problems we brought upon ourselves and we’re inherently flawed/bad…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates22/04/24 04:42 AM
2

I think “toxic masculinity” exists but is usually used to castigate “undesirable” or “different” men for trying to be more masculine, since many women subconsciously desire more traditional men while simultaneously saying they want men to be more sensitive and emotional. And guys can get away with toxic masculinity if they’re more desirable or masculine, insecurity and lack of confidence/self-esteem and all that are seen as bad things in men and justification for being called creeps and incels
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/04/24 07:48 PM
8

It really depends on how desirable or socially able the guy is, because those who are more confident or attractive or socially skilled can get away with a lot more. Often it’s the “different” men who get castigated or derided as creeps/incels etc. for attempting to be more masculine. But that’s really the only way to go because we don’t get sympathy/empathy for our social struggles in particular, because they don’t want to hear us complain. They think less desirable/successful men don’t deserve …
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/04/24 03:40 AM
3

I think it’s just the criminalization of male sexuality, especially for men who aren’t as confident or socially skilled or who are otherwise “different.” Because “desirable” guys can get away with a lot more than guys who aren’t considered attractive or desirable
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/04/24 05:03 AM
32

It’s a stupid solution to an actual problem- it just deflects from young people in SK not being able to afford housing or get married or even find good paying jobs
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/04/24 12:46 AM
1

Yes, I think I’ve seen stats the prove that men need social connections and interactions even more than women do despite the narrative. It’s why men complain more about being lonely and friendless, but that’s not an inherently bad thing imo. But overall we do have emotions and need to express them instead of relying on stoicism and apathy
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/04/24 04:08 PM
6

And then there’s broad sexual misconduct under Title IX, where things that are barely sexual contact count, as in my own case (even though it was barely about anything sexual, that was only a means to an end)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/04/24 03:24 PM
11

Yes, as well as how feminism is basically just a desire for matriarchy and turning the other cheek per se in just doing what “bad” men have supposedly done for how long, just with the sexes reversed
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates12/04/24 04:26 AM
10

Not to mention how men and other women will always feel bad for a woman/girl who struggles and will be willing to do most anything to help them, and that woman will almost always be believed even though they say victims and such are ignored (which was definitely true in the past but not as much now)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates12/04/24 04:20 AM
1

It’s not so much as there isn’t “toxic” masculinity (there is), but most of the time it’s used to just castigate different or undesirable guys while guys who actually do bad things or are toxic get away with it because of being desirable etc.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/04/24 03:10 PM
4

Radfems love to say how they’re totally different than libfems, but to me it’s just the same thing combined with postmodernist crap
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/04/24 11:57 PM
15

Because feminism doesn’t really care about helping men break their gender roles- men who are more sensitive or who struggle or are “different” and aren’t as traditionally masculine will often get derided as creeps or incels or toxically masculine and be frequently misunderstood (as in my own Title IX case). It’s not even just “feminine” males (it’s different if you’re gay though)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/04/24 11:54 PM
10

This is mainly just in reference to sociocultural issues, nothing economic. But with how the sociocultural left treats men and our issues it makes sense
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/04/24 11:49 PM
14

Yeah, they think the bad parts of men and traditional gender roles are often actually good
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/04/24 11:48 PM
5

I don’t know why you’d get banned for something so anodyne. But this entire thing is even worse for autistic guys, even if you’re very barely on the spectrum like me
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/04/24 11:45 PM
7

I think this is a combination of girlboss vanity, the men ain’t shit attitude, and the entitlement of attention from the top men/people
/r/MensRights06/04/24 06:08 PM
1

And it’s not just body image/physicality, it’s really all of the messages that young men are fed, in particular those related to emotional expression and sensitivity. I still struggle with a lot of the emotional/personal messaging, that I’m not good enough because I’m not traditionally masculine or whatever (also I think those types have everything I want socially and their lives are much easier)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/04/24 04:01 AM
1

I think a lot of idealized masculinity is focused around physical fitness and having an optimized look, like being muscular is part of being stoic and conservative and tough. I envied those types though, because I felt that they had it so much easier, and they kinda do because of stuff like the 80/20 rule
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/04/24 03:58 AM

The biggest thing for me regarding male loneliness is that many women, even self identified feminists, reinforce traditional male gender roles. I learned that firsthand- my complaining about being lonely and not having friends or a girlfriend as a guy was a turn-off both platonically and romantically, and those who weren’t turned off they usually would just give me superficial advice/support. I’m on the spectrum and have GAD too. Masculinity to many younger guys, even myself at almost 27, is sti…

Probably the view that women are always victims under patriarchy. Plus as a guy who’s been in with this kind of stuff you get no authentic sympathy or understanding
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates31/03/24 02:17 AM

/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/03/24 03:34 PM

I’d say it’s even worse for men who are “different” in some way- whether it’s sexual orientation, mental health, neurodivergence, race, other cultures. They claim to support and try to include people like you but then you get derided (I’ve had this experience on my own) and thought of as creepy or weird or evil even if you don’t mean to be that way or it’s because of your struggles/differences
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/03/24 03:13 PM

Yes this is how I feel personally, not sure how it is for others. I don’t feel like anyone wants to be my friend, let alone a romantic partner. I’m very lonely, part of that is just where I’m at in life and trying to find some kind of stability and satisfaction particularly with my job, but still. I don’t have many long term connections anymore apart from my family and one friend. I feel I get looked over in all parts of my life. I feel useless and purposeless. And on top of that my old Title IX…

For as much as people talk about inclusion for people on the spectrum, that just isn’t how it is for guys. I noted with my Title IX how it really emanated from me not doing anything/putting effort into social and extracurricular activities and not being used to that/understanding socializing so I would always try the pity angle and talk about how I didn’t have friends or feel like I fit in. And then it all came to a head when I said I didn’t like all these people on social media and they thought…

Yeah, try saying that to guys on the spectrum or have low self esteem like myself. It just makes you feel even worse. And if you talk too much about your struggles and insecurities it just gets thrown back at you, often worse. That’s basically the root of why I got accused of misconduct under Title IX, it had little to do with anything sexual. But the report showed me that people/girls did think I was creepy and threatening all of this stuff, so what I feared was kind of true. But I don’t think …

It’s either that or you get maligned in certain ways- that’s pretty much why I got Title IX’d, it had little to do with anything sexual, that only served to get it to the disciplinary process. It was only supposedly grinding on someone without her consent but I know it didn’t even happen as it said, I asked to dance, figured it would be grinding, went in, she said no and then I walked away. It was mostly about people thinking I was a threat because I talked/posted about my struggles with getting…

Yeah, admittedly I could qualify as an incel. I am technically on the spectrum and am very socially naive and inexperienced and stupid and also have anxiety. And then I got Title IX’d, it had little to do with anything sexual more so with the social and emotional stupidity. I don’t call myself an incel but I feel very lonely and I don’t think romantic relationships still seem possible for me, and I just want close friendships and people and hopefully a girlfriend

Especially those do-nothing email jobs that pay a ton of money
/r/MensRights05/02/24 08:34 PM

The funny part is that many women often subconsciously desire those types despite saying they hate them. It’s the same thing with women of color saying they hate white people but then their boyfriend is white

Not exactly related but I live in PA and the PASSHE is hemorrhaging money anyway so it would be hard. They’ve done two mergers of three schools each in the past few years. And Shippensburg really isn’t that small.

I think hustle culture is propagated toward all men really

You see this kind of stuff all the time with the “creepy” discourse. And a lot of guys aren’t “creepy” because they’re actually creeps or perverts, it’s because of a lack of confidence, self esteem, and/or social skills. And I know this kind of stuff firsthand from personal experience/my Title IX case
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/02/24 05:04 PM

I’m the same way- I see tradshit and wokeshit as equally bad and annoying and stupid. Especially when there’s supposed “communists” adopting trad sociocultural values, even China isn’t as trad as they make it out to be. And there’s still degeneracy in trad societies- gender based violence is still extremely prevalent in the Middle East
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/02/24 04:54 PM
20

And that “tradwife” 50s style dynamic was really an anomaly in the course of human history, women have always worked in some way or another
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/02/24 06:38 PM
14

As I’ve said many times before, the wokes and trads are just as bad as each other and they’re really two sides of the same coin when it comes to men’s issues
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/02/24 04:00 PM
2

I always liked second wave feminism because it was “women can do exactly what men can do” and it preached personal responsibility for one’s actions. And like you said it promoted the free love stuff so nobody cared (and if feminism still promoted that I wouldn’t care because then maybe I could not be a virgin anymore lol)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/02/24 05:02 PM
4

Yeah, in a lot of ways feminism and tradshit are two sides of the same coin for men pretty much. Both of them just reinforce “traditional masculinity” and see men as defined by what they do/provide/have instead of who they are. The wokes and trads are just as bad in my opinion
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/02/24 04:56 PM

I mean even a plurality of liberal men said this in a 2022 SPLC survey

I mean there’s always the soft bigotry of low expectations, even though that was popularized by Bush conservatives
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/02/24 02:57 AM

Well I think that would be the only way to combat that garbage lol
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates31/01/24 09:20 PM

No I agree with that as well, you can see it with the men ain’t shit attitude, the demonization of male sexuality, so many things
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates31/01/24 09:13 PM
6

It’s a free article. I also saw some of your comments on other posts and they are a lot of sense, like how Reeves still sees men in terms of utility (Scott Galloway is that way too), that we need to help men fulfill their traditional responsibilities rather than helping men escape our gender roles
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates31/01/24 09:12 PM
2

I was mainly talking about the point in the article that some conservatives think women just need to stay in their places and we need a return to traditional gender roles
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates31/01/24 08:16 PM
6

The right wingers that speak to men are usually trads and think that the lack traditional masculinity and related habits/interests/behaviors is the main problem, not like most of us here who think that it’s because men haven’t been able to escape their gender roles
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates30/01/24 05:27 AM
1

Or just because it’s what you’re supposed to do/be, I see that with a lot of women I know/know of
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/01/24 03:52 AM
1

I’ve seen strange stuff like that from left-reactionaries/traditionalists, they think liberalism is the sociocultural wing of capitalism so sociocultural conservativism must be the way to fight capitalism
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/01/24 03:51 AM
5

I think a good way to present masculinity on the left would be to say that it’s a wide spectrum, but whatever or whoever you are you’re still a guy
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/01/24 03:50 AM
3

I’ve had female friends give sympathy to me regarding my issues but it’s usually the same superficial crap anymore that does nothing in helping me accept myself or have the things I want in life or improve myself/increase my self esteem
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/01/24 03:46 AM
3

Yes very much so, male sexuality is especially scrutinized when you are disabled, and I would know firsthand. Yes I’ll admit I was socially stupid and naive and I’m still working on breaking those thought patterns through therapy but I just wanted to have a group of friends and a girlfriend because I thought having those social experiences and milestones would help me feel good about myself. But then I got Title IX’d
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/01/24 03:45 AM
2

Yes, women really have the social power, they can destroy a guys life if they think said guy is creepy/weird/otherwise undesirable/negative (I have personal experience with it all)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/01/24 03:41 AM
2

You see it all the time, many women of color will talk about how bad white men are but then have white boyfriends. Plus there’s all that stuff they say about wanting a guy who’s sensitive and emotional and all that but do they really want that?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/01/24 03:39 AM
4

I see and have experienced it the most in the social and emotional expectations of men- like if you’re not confident or introverted or whatever and you express your emotions you end up being derided as creepy or weird or unstable or that you don’t deserve to have friends or romantic relationships. But I won’t deny some throngs we’re kind of my own fault
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/01/24 03:38 AM
49

And the conservative response, even among so-called Communists/left-reactionaries, is to just go back to the tradshit instead of helping and accepting men of different personalities and backgrounds in getting them contentment and satisfaction in life. And that because liberal/Western culture promotes degeneracy and hence holds traditional masculinity back that is the root of all the issues and that needs to be destroyed or something. I’m against feminism/wokeshit and tradshit because it’s two si…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/01/24 06:47 AM
20

That’s not exactly feminism, rather true egalitarianism
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates26/01/24 03:47 AM
2

That’s the issue- there’s no way in assisting them or having actual sympathy for them, a lot of which includes cutting them some slack and not instantly deriding them as creepy or weird for just trying to be more social or outgoing or “masculine.”
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/01/24 03:27 PM
1

Or when men are actually sensitive/emotional/not traditionally masculine in the social-emotional sense (low confidence, poor social skills, introversion etc.)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/01/24 03:25 PM
1

Yeah, even when they say they want emotional and sensitive guys that really means “keep it to yourself, do your own internal work” etc.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/01/24 03:24 PM
3

Yes definitely- after my Title IX (even though I know I didn’t do anything wrong and was still found guilty), I thought that whatever I did toward women even in a social sense would be taken the wrong way or I’d be viewed as creepy for being too emotional and everything (though I do admit I was kind of manipulative). I still harbor some of these beliefs 7 years after it all went down and even though I’m trying to break it all it’s still a challenge
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/01/24 03:20 PM
4

Like I said in another comment the biggest thing I see from many feminists is that they want men to be sensitive and emotional and all that now but do they really? In my experience that either makes a guy “creepy,” weak, or undesirable in some other way. That’s obviously not all women but many, even if they claim to want a guy who isn’t traditionally masculine in the emotional/cognitive sense. Also it’s present with the socioemotional type stuff associated with masculinity, like if you’re not co…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/01/24 03:16 PM

Wait let’s see, the majority of suicides are men, the great majority of workplace deaths are men, most homeless people are male, I could go on and on with all the negative stuff. How do you like them apples lol?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/01/24 03:02 PM
15

But then there’s the other side of the coin where many modern women refuse to be what men supposedly need them for a la “women aren’t therapists/support for maladjusted/hurt/insecure men” at least in romantic relationships. And I think that goes over to platonic connections as well
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/01/24 02:59 PM
8

You can’t forget physical and social/emotional expectations as well
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/01/24 04:21 PM
1

For me it’s the opposite, that you need to be seen with male friends. I’ve always gotten along better with women/girls and I envied that stereotypical gay male relationship with women on a social/platonic level because I’m sensitive and emotional. I barely have any real life/consistent friends anyway and I was always socially stupid so I could be really off base
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/01/24 09:24 PM
21

“Men are typically defined by what they do/provide/have, not who they are”
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/01/24 11:54 AM
4

And women need to concede that all men aren’t going to be hugely masculine and that more sensitive or emotional or less confident guys aren’t worth any less in terms of romance/dating/relationships
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/01/24 10:42 PM
3

Yeah, I agree with you, especially with your first paragraph. I wouldn’t care if women initiated or anything, just that women would be more interested in guys like me who aren’t in the top 10/20% or are totally masculine/confident/have good self esteem and they lowered their standards. Which is hard to do now because of hypergamy and modern feminism. Even the feminists will often end up with those “toxically masculine” types because they like that. There needs to be more of a sense of mutualism i…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/01/24 10:38 PM
1

I don’t disagree with any of that, but the biggest thing to defeat that in modern times is to fight to end hypergamy, so the same men are not getting all of the women and it forces women to settle, not to mention bringing back more traditional socializing opportunities and community
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/01/24 10:34 PM
15

Pretty much, a lot of feminism is basically just the opposite coin of tradshit instead of mutual aid and understanding
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/01/24 10:32 PM
4

I know that kind of stuff firsthand, at least with my Title IX case and my struggles with socializing
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/01/24 02:31 AM
10

But I think on the opposite side of that, guys who aren’t so masculine shouldn’t be castigated or isolated or rejected for being that way, especially in romance/dating/sex (particularly if they’re straight). One of the biggest reasons for me being on here and pro-male is that I personally have struggled a lot with socializing and romance and confidence and self esteem and all of that and I think we need to do better in bringing those men satisfaction and contentment, I think guys like me (of whi…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/01/24 09:05 PM
10

Yeah pretty much. When it comes to sociocultural stuff or even foreign policy with Israel/Gaza. And there’s also the types of people who use political beliefs as a substitute for personality or as an outlet for anger, often because they live sad, unfulfilled, and/or lonely lives
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/01/24 09:02 PM
22

That’s why I don’t agree with the trad masculinity, I want men to have the chance to escape their gender roles too. They also don’t see how women have contributed to those gender roles
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/01/24 04:43 AM
38

It was just the apex fallacy, since most of those powerful people were men then lots of other men must think/act like that
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/01/24 04:20 AM
13

I think that’s the biggest thing I’ve realized recently, even if that’s supposedly “redpill”
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/01/24 04:18 AM
2

It pretty much isn’t for everyone because it’s just the other side of the coin of not letting men escape their gender roles. Many feminists say they want men to be sensitive and emotional but they’re not socially/romantically attracted to that and they just want men to do stuff for themselves without help from women. A lot of modern feminism is just doing and saying and thinking what men supposedly have done and said and thought for how long toward women and just spinning it around toward men
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/01/24 03:06 AM
1

I still think family is important but it doesn’t need to be that traditional conception of family and family-related gender roles
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/01/24 03:04 AM
2

I empathize with you because I thought up until pretty recently that that red pill realist doomer dating/romance/sex stuff was true. But I think it’s just a tendency not a total fact now, you should just keep putting yourself out there and experiencing things (even though I don’t do this myself despite my struggles and lack of social experience lol)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/01/24 03:03 AM
7

There are people who are more egalitarian and want men to be able to escape their traditional gender roles, you just have to find them. I think there’s quite a few on this sub

Queer Majority is a heterodox LGBT site, and their articles are usually good (the majority refers to the majority of LGBT people who aren’t on board with all the wokeshit, and a lot of their writers are anti-woke but also anti-trad/anti-puritan like myself) I could go on and on about how my own Title IX case really wasn’t about anything sexual (I was accused of grinding on a girl without her consent, but I know that didn’t even happen at all), but it was about how my accuser and others thought I…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/01/24 02:57 AM

The radlib/feminist demands of men do not often match up with what women desire socially/romantically. They just want men who are generally stoic, take care of their own problems, and are in touch with their emotions but only by themselves, and that “women aren’t therapists for unstable men.” A lot of modern feminism is just “let’s do what a lot of men supposedly did to women/how men treated women in the past and use those same arguments/strategies toward men and their issues”
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/01/24 02:50 AM
1

Western/modern feminism isn’t needed, first and second wave feminism is still needed in the developing world. I think a more second wave styled feminism in the west would be good too, because under that women could do anything and were taught to take responsibility for themselves and their decisions (one of my biggest skepticisms)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/01/24 02:46 AM
33

And then if you follow the feminist advice of being more sensitive and emotional and all you probably will have little to no success with women unless you find the right person (of which there are some, but not many)
/r/MensRights15/01/24 02:45 AM
14

I think a lot of that disconnect leads to more and more incels, like you want us to be one way but you don’t really want us to be that way. It’s hypocritical and makes little sense. And as a sensitive and socially naive and inexperienced and stupid guy I always felt totally ignored by women, because I was too sensitive and aloof. I’m trying to be better with all that now though
/r/MensRights15/01/24 02:42 AM
10

And that comes from both the woke feminist side and the trad conservative side, they both reinforce that traditional ideation of masculinity despite the former claiming to be totally against it
/r/MensRights15/01/24 02:42 AM

I was reading the Case Western one and the guy did admit that about half of sexual misconduct accusations are totally baseless. I would like to see/know how many more are because of non/quasi-related issues/reasons such as in my experience. And I only wish they’d had a settlement process at my school, I was going to transfer anyway and the Title IX thing was the last straw really. And then my lawyer and we thought that it wasn’t that serious and pretty baseless but they thought I was a creep and…

Don’t forget stoic and a non-complainer, even if they have legitimate things going on
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/01/24 05:39 AM

That’s what I was implying, that supposedly feminine behavior is off putting in guys
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/01/24 05:39 PM
3

I went directly from undergrad to grad school to get a Masters of Public Administration, and it took me a year and a half to get a job (the one I have now), and it’s a crappy trainee position that pays terribly. I think all the extra/woke/try-hard guys got jobs, but then my field is female-dominated nowadays despite what some may think with elected officials
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/01/24 05:17 PM
3

I think “real man” in their eyes means stoic and emotionless and defined by what they offer instead of who they are
/r/MensRights05/01/24 05:14 PM
21

I agree, and you don’t necessarily need a diagnosis of anything, lots of guys have self esteem and confidence issues but that’s perceived as “feminine” and often times it’s met with the “it’s your own fault” response
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/01/24 05:12 PM
6

I have gotten flak on here before for saying this but I think there’s lowercase i incels (lots of guys), and then uppercase I Incels (the hateful types)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/01/24 05:11 PM
3

This is why trads are just as bad as the wokes, they’re just the opposite side of the same coin
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/01/24 02:39 PM
2

Women are privileged in other ways too? Lol
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/12/23 08:03 PM

Also especially non-traditionally masculine or un-confident or socially awkward or autistic or mentally ill men
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/12/23 08:01 PM
3

Yeah, and then you can look at MeToo and Title IX where they try to do both things at the same time
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/12/23 08:01 PM
5

It’s because despite what some women say, many of them will still pick guys who have traditionally/“toxically” masculine traits. Not to mention hypergamy and the not so much talked about sense of female entitlement for the top men
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/12/23 07:59 PM
3

Even though women tend to select guys who are “toxically masculine” lol
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/12/23 07:58 PM
1

I think it would be a lot, like in my Title IX (despite it being a proxy for non-sexual behaviors), those behaviors were driven by me being socially naive/stupid/inexperienced and unhappy/not content and lonely, and I thought I could get a friend group and a girlfriend by just talking about all of that stuff on social media and all
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/12/23 07:57 PM
4

That’s what the “men ain’t shit” and “women aren’t therapists/safe spaces for broken men” mindset gets you
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/12/23 07:55 PM
6

Anything to avoid recognizing that women play a role in determining masculinity and that they have to change as well to meet what they desire in men. And as usual it’s just feminism being “let’s just do what men have done/how men have treated women to men” And then male loneliness is a very dire/serious issue despite shit like this
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/12/23 07:53 PM
23

I think it was the explosion of MeToo and Title IX, a lot of that was undergirded by the ideas of female infantilization
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/12/23 02:44 AM
85

What hypergamy does to an MF lol
/r/MensRights27/12/23 06:31 PM

Also men lonely- they must be creepy or an incel or a “nice guy” or have something inherently wrong with them
/r/MensRights27/12/23 06:31 PM

Yeah, if you do it too much you’ll just get derided as a creep or an incel or something else negative like I did around my Title IX case
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates26/12/23 11:57 PM
9

I have a similar experience as you, being a white guy on the spectrum, I didn’t accept it until I was 22 I think. I have a job right now but it sucks and I feel like I can’t reach my potential because I’m so used to not socializing and falling into fantasy. Add to that the Title IX (before I accepted being on the spectrum) and complaining a lot about my loneliness and depression and all that but doing nothing about it prior to the case I think most people don’t even care a bit about me anymore o…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates26/12/23 11:56 PM

This phenomenon becomes even worse when it’s applied to romance/dating- it’s always “open up” but “women are not therapists or safe people for disaffected men”
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates26/12/23 11:54 PM
12

Admittedly I complained a lot on social media about feeling lonely and isolated and depressed in the past, and most of what you get is just superficial encouragement or people giving you the truth. I honestly didn’t do much to help myself because of trauma and stupidity and not understanding socializing because of self-imposed avoidance/isolation- some people still reached out but didn’t understand that they’d probably need to do a lot of the work at the beginning because of my struggles, like o…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/12/23 06:20 AM

In my own experience, insecurity in men is either taken as a sign of self-satisfaction (and people will just leave you alone) or more often people will think something negative about you, like you’re either creepy, weird, manipulative, an incel, a “nice guy,” or whatever else they can come up with. Quite a few people take insecurity and vulnerability in men and think it’s all a reflection of something bad about yourself
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/12/23 06:16 AM
4

I saw from the Tin Men that the State of Washington is creating a commission on men and boys and oddly enough it was introduced by Dems
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/12/23 06:13 PM
22

I think it’s because a lot of modern feminism is just what men have supposedly done for thousands of years just turned around, so since men apparently did all this bad stuff to and didn’t care about women it’s time for the women to have it on their foot. It’s just retribution almost, instead of actual equality
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/12/23 05:53 PM
2

I think the biggest thing from my own experience is just low self-confidence, poor social skills/lack of experiences, and low self-esteem, that’s the main root of it all. And that’s exacerbated by being on the spectrum or having mental health issues
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/12/23 02:41 AM
5

And if you want people to reach out they either won’t do it or only do it once or so and then after that you’ll just get thought of as a weirdo or creep (as I was)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/12/23 03:33 AM
4

Yeah, they always repeat “women are not therapists/solutions for unstable and insecure men”
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/12/23 03:31 AM
1

And because of that privilege if you struggle you must have some kind of issue and your challenges are almost all your own fault
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/12/23 03:30 AM
10

Yeah, men aren’t supposed to feel like they deserve others in their lives in their eyes, or else you’re just annoying and creepy and misogynistic- and it’s all on you if you’re lonely, you can’t expect others to reach out if you’re a guy. We all need other people as social animals and it isn’t bad/evil to desire social, romantic, and sexual connections, but under this view it’s bad for men to have that desire and struggle at the same time with it
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/12/23 03:27 AM
2

I’ve seen some weird segments of the left even go on rants about banning porn and promoting tradshit in society
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/12/23 11:40 PM

Because they really want to view it as a fault of individual “bad” men. Also they want to hate those types of men as they’re socially undesirable in some way- overall they just don’t want to help men or change their perspectives and desires
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/12/23 11:36 PM

I get what she’s talking about but that’s in Hollywood/the media where every guy is either attractive and/or powerful, that’s not real life where most guys don’t have that kind of looks or money or power

I am still on it and I haven’t had a legitimate match in like how many months. I’ve had it for like how many years too. I guess women like their gender roles when it comes to dating even though they should initiate/put up or shut up, that’s the way to break gender norms. Not to mention all the matches I get I’m not attracted to or are ugly/disabled/overweight
/r/MensRights07/11/23 01:51 PM
1

I’ve seen a lot of people on both sides talk about how over-sexualized we are which I kinda get because of the disconnect between that and how much sex we actually have on the ground but I’m not personally puritanical and I see those kinds of views as problematic as well
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/11/23 01:35 PM
11

Yeah, I think some people just want to take any expression of sexuality out of the collective conscious
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/11/23 02:38 AM
6

Because women don’t want to change since a lot of modern feminism is just “let’s do what men did for so many years and let men feel what we felt for so long”
/r/MensRights06/11/23 06:27 PM
6

I remember one guy who was also accused at Wofford when I was on the FACE email thread, I don’t think it’s the same person though. I would love to sue my own accuser, especially since she’s so into disability rights even though she didn’t seem to care in my case when I said I was on the spectrum and have GAD and depression
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/11/23 02:02 PM
15

It’s really any guy, especially those who aren’t part of that magical top 20%
/r/MensRights06/11/23 01:59 PM
9

It depends on how desirable the guy is, in terms of physical attractiveness and social appearance/confidence/poise in particular
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/11/23 01:50 PM
5

I think my own accuser was like this- we were at a really competitive high end school and she didn’t do so great because first semester. I don’t think it’s the entire reason but it’s part of that
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/11/23 01:38 PM
19

And the proliferation of dating apps just accelerated it all with hypergamy and everything
/r/MensRights01/11/23 01:13 AM
5

A lot of times men who struggle or who are different get castigated for the behavior of actually bad and ill-meaning men (myself included in my opinion). A lot of the “bad” men are often desirable to women for other reasons
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates31/10/23 01:10 PM
14

I don’t think men being emotional or sensitive is bad (being that way myself), but women need to follow it through and it not just to be all talk (which many feminists won’t because they’d actually have to change, they’d have to initiate romantic contact etc.)
/r/MensRights31/10/23 12:52 PM
9

Because it’s viewed as payback for however long women have supposedly been subjugated, many don’t want equality they just want to get revenge by doing what men have supposedly done bad for so long and not gotten criticized for it- this manifests itself in many different ways
/r/MensRights31/10/23 12:51 PM
65

They would never ask women to lower their expectations/standards, which is arguably much more of the problem than that of men
/r/MensRights31/10/23 01:45 AM
5

I think lots of autistic people like me are involuntarily celibate, but we’re not “incels,” that includes all the downright misogynistic and hateful stuff
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates31/10/23 01:43 AM
21

Yeah it’s so fake- my Title IX accuser started a disability rights organization and thought she was so woke and accepting but she still accused me of stuff that didn’t happen and refused to help or sympathize with me at all prior to that (I thought she was nice and all). I hadn’t disclosed/accepted my being on the spectrum back then but still. We just get derided as creeps and threats, especially when we express our emotions and social desires
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates31/10/23 01:41 AM
14

I think about what women want in a man, and I don’t think the biggest thing is being a provider or anything, it’s having social poise and confidence/self esteem, and that’s what guys on the spectrum and with mental health issues like me struggle the most with
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates31/10/23 01:38 AM
9

A lot of people don’t really want to help autistic people, especially men, because it requires change and “too much effort.” I’ve tried to get better with socializing but I will recognize that I’ve always wanted and expected others to do most of the legwork when it came to initiating and reciprocating and planning things and all that. Now that I know I have to have responsibility over some social things it’s hard because I’m 26 and out of school and it’s even harder to meet people. I feel I’ve m…

The options are too vague, I’m not against the needed developments that occurred during first and second wave feminism, and I actually like libertarian feminism despite not being a libertarian. But post second wave feminism and radical feminism are noxious
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/10/23 09:29 PM

Because most of those posts would either get deleted or the users would get a lot of flak or get banned

This was me with my Title IX case- it wasn’t really about sexual misconduct it was about me being thought of as a weirdo and a creep and a threat for being socially stupid and not understanding all that. The thing is my accuser built a whole thing around it and I don’t think she’d ever rescind anything because I was found “guilty” and all but expelled (the sexual issue was grinding on her without her consent at a party, which didn’t even happen the way she said it did) plus she did all this acti…

Yeah, I can barely get matches on dating apps and those I get I’m not very interested in, but some women would say I’m being too picky. And then I don’t meet many potential dates/girlfriends/hookups in life because I don’t do much
/r/MensRights28/10/23 02:01 AM
3

There is, but it’s only a small subset of guys who are having all the sex. Just look at dating app stats and some other charts
/r/MensRights28/10/23 01:58 AM
6

Hookup culture to me was just the beginning of hypergamy and further alienated, ostracized, and angered men who are “different” or who struggle socially. Everyone knows men have a higher libido and all that rejection just led to more anger and sexual tension. And then there’s the MeToo and Title IX stuff if you make a mistake, and men of color and men with disabilities are more likely to be caught up in this shit when they had good intentions (as what happened with me, despite my case not really…

Yeah, I hate that we’ve ceded a lot of ground to idiotic tradcons who are often just as bad as the wokes/feminists
/r/MensRights28/10/23 01:54 AM
30

It’s really the epitome of the pot calling the kettle black with how women would hate rejection even more
/r/MensRights28/10/23 01:53 AM
50

Well that plus hypergamy in modern dating/romance
/r/MensRights28/10/23 01:52 AM
9

Because that means they’d have to change, and many feminists don’t feel that change is necessary because they’ve supposedly had to conform to men’s expectations for so long
/r/MensRights28/10/23 01:51 AM
7

It’s very difficult- mine wasn’t really about anything sexual even though it was a Title IX. I still don’t trust people, especially women though, and I still have a basal fear of opening up to others and being an authentic self (which I’ve really always had) and mainly of romance/sex because what if something actually goes wrong. In my case it was more about others thinking I was creepy and a threat because the “sexual misconduct” I was accused of was grinding on a girl at a frat party, which I …

It’s either accountability, responsibility, or a need to change that’s viewed as male oppression and therefore unacceptable
/r/MensRights26/10/23 05:46 PM

And it’s not like women don’t objectify men, they just do it in a different way, it’s more on the sly
/r/MensRights26/10/23 03:30 PM
1

Yes- because of hypergamy in particular for men. I’m sure there’s also issues women have but that’s more to do with player types from what I’ve seen, but there’s probably stuff worse than that
/r/MensRights26/10/23 03:29 PM
0

Yeah, they can say they want sensitive and emotional and not traditionally masculine guys all they want, but biologically they’ll still be driven to traditionally masculine traits
/r/MensRights26/10/23 03:28 PM
1

I love Paglia, also Laura Kipnis is pretty good, plus the women who host the incel podcast
/r/MensRights26/10/23 03:27 PM
1

The main one for me is genuine acceptance of men who are “different,” and enabling them to have what they desire in life. Particularly men who are more sensitive and/or struggle with socializing. This is especially in terms of romance and sex, men who struggle socially for one reason or another shouldn’t be derided as creeps or weirdos or incels
/r/MensRights26/10/23 03:24 PM
10

The epitome of hypergamy, but that won’t change because many modern women feel entitled to having that top 20% type of guy
/r/MensRights26/10/23 03:22 PM
10

That’s the big stuff about feminism at its core that I’m realizing, it often reinforces social Darwinist views and hierarchies toward men. Like some men are just inherently supposed to have no social/romantic/sexual connections and experiences and some people are just supposed to be unhappy and have not so good lives and not be content
/r/MensRights26/10/23 03:06 PM
22

Yeah, you’d have to see this recent post on the Asperger’s sub. It’s some autistic woman basically just castigating autistic guys for supposedly using their autism as an excuse for being an asshole or a misogynist or whatever
/r/MensRights26/10/23 03:04 PM
30

Or you’re toxically masculine or a douche or a misogynist/incel or something. The only way you can possibly get sympathy as an autistic guy is to be super woke or super stereotypical in my opinion
/r/MensRights26/10/23 03:03 PM
6

Not much, unless you’re the type of autistic guy who is totally oblivious to anything social. A lot of times women will criticize autistic men (seen it twice today actually) for being assholes and annoying and toxically masculine and all that, and they think it’s because those people are using the autism as an excuse for being a douchebag. I have some personal experience with this, being on the high end of spectrum myself. A lot of times in the past I didn’t understand socializing or my own agen…

That’s how I am, I wouldn’t say I’m socially conservative but I’m not a woke liberal on social issues either. I’m pretty skeptical of trans stuff (but I’m doing it out of evidence and being on the spectrum myself and I actually care about those people that obviously hurt), I’m against unfettered immigration and abortion but that stuff shouldn’t be totally banned, there’s some other stuff too. Like I’m not conservative either because I’m against gender roles for both sexes, I don’t think men or w…

Oh of course, but it’s more insidious on the left, like others have said at least the right just says it outright
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/10/23 06:20 PM
25

Often times when someone ostensibly on the left tries to tackle men’s issues, it’s always about helping modern men fulfill their gender roles and act more gender typical than transcending the stereotypes/roles
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/10/23 03:04 PM
13

Yeah most so-called leftists are really just radlibs, and often times if they are actually leftist they’re also insufferably woke
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/10/23 03:02 PM
6

And honestly that’s a cause of guys becoming incels and dropping out of dating/romance, women feeling they deserve the top men, and that’s only been exacerbated with dating apps
/r/MensRights23/10/23 02:49 AM
15

Well it’s misandry and people taking contemporary forms of feminism to heart, I’m not talking about the necessary first and second waves
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates22/10/23 05:12 PM
1

Because being treated like shit often signifies the traditionally masculine traits many women often want subconsciously
/r/MensRights22/10/23 05:07 PM
11

Because to many men are supposed to be strong and figure it out on their own, that belief underlies a lot. Despite the adage “no man is an island”
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates22/10/23 02:02 PM
6

This might be weird but I think Good Will Hunting is a good male movie, because it really deals with trauma and emotions in a great way
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/10/23 09:28 PM
1

I feel similarly- I have a masters degree but am in this crappy job only making 42k a year. I don’t think any woman would like that
/r/MensRights20/10/23 03:34 PM
1

Yeah, that to me is one of the most egregious examples of feminist entitlement
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/10/23 03:24 PM
1

Wow this is even worse than my own experience. In my case they made it sound like it was super complex and actually referred it to an outside lawyer, because I think they were looking for any reason to get rid of me (I ended up being all but expelled). Also, mine had little to nothing to do with sexual misconduct, more that others thought I was creepy and a threat, and the Title IX served the purpose since I didn’t exactly do anything that broke the school rules apart from maybe one thing
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/10/23 01:45 PM
0

It’s actually more of Biden’s as VP- he was big with Its on Us and all that and pushed Obama with the Title IX stuff
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/10/23 01:42 PM
1

Pretty much, I know a lot of that from my own experience. And it’s not just making fun of people like me, it’s outright dislike and ostracism
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/10/23 01:41 PM
18

And socially undesirable men. And socially challenged men. And disabled men
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/10/23 03:26 PM
15

Not to mention the risk of being falsely accused/Title IX’d etc, especially for ulterior motives or stuff that’s not really sexual (as in my own case)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/10/23 04:02 PM
12

But not being like other guys has its downsides too, like being seen as creepy or “different” or undesirable, even though it’s often because of low self esteem or confidence or other mental health/neurodivergence issues
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/10/23 03:58 PM
13

Exactly, it’s okay for women to escape their gender roles but not for men, because the latter often would require women to change behaviors and viewpoints
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/10/23 03:35 PM
2

And those former types aren’t going to get discouraged or even often rejected because they’re often “desirable”
/r/MensRights18/10/23 01:22 AM
1

Yes, but not in the way you’d think. They need to learn to have responsibility for their own choices as well and not blame men or falsely accuse them or anything of that matter

Hypergamy from dating apps and an eradication of IRL dating in action
/r/PurplePillDebate18/10/23 01:05 AM

As much as I like Scott Galloway sometimes I think his solutions are too dependent on men being confident and socially abled, and he and others don’t see that the underlying issue is that there are many men who struggle with confidence and self esteem and social skills. He also presents a lot of solutions that are just “make it easier for men to fulfill their traditional gender role.” And none of his types will put any semblance of blame or need to change on women
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/10/23 12:58 AM
1

Depends on the society, in more traditional societies yes, not so much in more progressive societies
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/10/23 12:06 AM
2

Yes, I know this firsthand from my Title IX case. Women will consider men who struggle or are “different” as creepy, whereas more desirable men will not get that kind of treatment. As with my Title IX case, I admittedly did some stupid stuff but it had very little to do with anything sexual, more that people (women in particular) thought I was creepy and a threat and all that
/r/PurplePillDebate17/10/23 12:53 AM
6

Under that point of view it’s understandable why many troubled men consider transitioning as an escape hatch from all of our issues
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/10/23 12:35 AM
7

Yeah, basically undesirable or “different” or “abnormal” men get blamed for the behavior of a very small percentage of powerful and “bad” men
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/10/23 12:32 AM
4

It’s the problem with generalizations, people of any background can have privilege (via class/finance/connections) or be marginalized. Also try telling that to me, my life sucks right now. I know a lot of it is my own fault but still
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/10/23 12:31 AM
9

It’s because of misandry like you say, plus not many women finding autistic men attractive or desirable (physically, emotionally, or intellectually). As usual, attractive and desirable men in the eyes of women will be able to get away with much more, whereas “different” guys will be seen as creeps and weirdos. I’ve had firsthand experience with all this, people claim to be so understanding and including of people with disabilities, but wait until the latter wants to be more “normal” or “typical.…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/10/23 12:29 AM
16

Pretty much, and those qualities make women likable. And given their power in romance and sex in modern times the autistic male traits are seen as bad
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/10/23 09:18 PM
2

I partially agree with you, but I wouldn’t say it’s just that. I also think it’s used to scapegoat and con non-traditional/low confidence/esteem/different men into thinking they can get women if they’re like that, even though it’s often the total opposite in practice
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/10/23 12:35 AM
1

Exactly, it often seems the men who aren’t toxic seem to be the black sheep for actual toxic masculinity while guys who are more toxic and traditionally masculine and confident and sociable and just have more desirable traits can get away with a whole lot more. I’ve had firsthand experience with this. It’s like the meme that was shared on another similar post- the one with the attractive guy and the nerdy guy in the office and the woman’s responses to both compliments/actions from the men
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/10/23 12:33 AM
2

I wouldn’t say it’s just class, I think there’s a strange irony to it all. There’s a hyper focus on idpol but men who are members of oppressed groups get a much shorter leash, especially when it comes to socializing, romance and sex
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/10/23 12:29 AM
2

Or when you talk to certain feminists about incels or men who want romantic relationships but can’t get/aren’t in them they’ll just be like “this is how it happens in other species, some males just don’t get any mates”
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/10/23 12:28 AM
1

Many women say they hate toxic masculinity when in fact they really appreciate a lot of those traditional masculine traits and roles- stoicism, defending women and children, being a provider etc.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/10/23 12:26 AM
3

And then most of the men who actually show “toxic” masculinity won’t get called out on it while men who aren’t that way or just are fine with being not so masculine end up being scapegoats for “toxic” masculinity and the actual bad things that some men do (especially if you’re heterosexual and have some kind of difference to you, whether it’s cultural, mental health/neurodiversity related, appearance, or whatever)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/10/23 12:25 AM
32

Gender essentialism- much of modern feminism has shown men to be inherently bad. The ironic part is that men who are actually bad or are “toxically masculine” will be able to get away with that kind of behavior while guys who aren’t that way and try to be more masculine or try to be as they are will be scapegoats for the behavior of “bad” men
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/10/23 11:50 PM
2

High functioning- people used to think I should do comp sci or some other kind of asocial job/area even though I hate math. And some people thought I was only smart because I had a good memory and memorized everything
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/10/23 07:10 PM
7

What you say is basically my experience is well, I’m socially naive and inexperienced, I always worry about what others will think of me, my self esteem sucks, I have little confidence in myself besides in trivia, and I’ve never had the things I’ve wanted- a girlfriend, to have sex, and a group of friends, and I’m 26
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/10/23 06:42 PM
2

A lot of things, but most notably being considered that I have no interest in socializing/relationships and others not realizing that others need to reach out to me more. Also being pigeonholed into certain careers and traits and hobbies in general. I feel I was always considered less than because I was on the high end of the spectrum and needed support for non-academic matters
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/10/23 06:40 PM
28

It also implies that women don’t have agency in some situations. I’m not talking about getting drugged or raped while blacked out drunk, I’m talking about situations like when both were drunk and they had sex or even when there’s no alcohol involved and she just regrets it and says it’s rape later on
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/10/23 06:38 PM
4

Would this only stand if the respondent was found not responsible? Because I was found responsible (very complicated) about six years ago and sometimes I wish I could do this
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/10/23 01:27 PM
6

As with many things, response to any kind of male attempts to attention is often dependent on whether they find the guy attractive and/or desirable. Like if the guy is nerdy or fat or “ugly” or has social challenges due to personal or cultural issues they’re far more likely to receive a negative response. Funnily enough it’s the men who aren’t “toxically” masculine who try to be so while those who are that way and catcall they’re much more likely to get away with it
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/10/23 02:10 PM
6

And most of the times those they call incels are the antithesis of toxic masculinity in some way, and people like me have been used as scapegoats for legitimately bad things other people have done (like my title IX case)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates11/10/23 03:11 PM
4

Like capital I incels, the super misogynistic and spiteful ones that can be driven to violence
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates11/10/23 12:11 PM
2

I know I’ll get shit for saying this but I don’t think it’s exactly dysmorphia, it’s that men are still expected to meet their traditional gender role but most men can’t, not to also mention hypergamy
/r/PurplePillDebate11/10/23 04:02 AM
45

Depends if you’re talking about the militant Incels or just regular incels (which they are a ton and all types of guys). I think incels deserve sympathy and understanding and support, and it is definitely a slur toward guys who aren’t traditionally masculine or are sensitive or are socially challenged
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates11/10/23 02:29 AM
2

It’s not even women, it’s just people in general. I learned that stuff firsthand
/r/MensRights10/10/23 10:17 PM
3

For me I can’t really hide it, it’s really hard for me to be more outgoing and be my authentic self around others. I think I always seem aloof and detached and people think that’s because I’m self satisfied but I’m really not, I’m 26 and I’ve never had a girlfriend, had sex, or really felt like I’ve fit in or had much of a consistent friend group. And the few opportunities I had for all that it’s really just fallen apart. It sucks to say the least
/r/MensRights10/10/23 10:16 PM
2

And ironically they can be held as a scapegoat for the inherent “badness” of men, just as I felt I was with my Title IX case
/r/MensRights10/10/23 10:13 PM
8

Yeah, not to mention a lot of the “neurodiverse” women don’t seem to have any issues with dating or sex and somehow people actually seem to like them for being “quirky” and “weird”
/r/MensRights10/10/23 10:12 PM
2

The hard part is that a lot of autism-related stuff, especially more on the “high-functioning” level is that it would be hard to legislate it. Like social mores and social acceptance and stuff, that’s the biggest issue I’ve had being on the spectrum myself
/r/MensRights10/10/23 10:10 PM
6

Admittedly I was emotionally manipulative in the past, but I really didn’t know any better/wasn’t aware of it. I thought pity would get me what I wanted, which was self esteem and happiness and social experiences. To me it’s also another strike against emotional/sensitive men
/r/MensRights10/10/23 10:08 PM
2

Yes this type of stuff was basically exactly what led up to my Title IX case being an autistic guy. Unfortunately I hadn’t accepted it at the time, being on the spectrum I mean. They really just wanted me off of campus because they thought I was creepy and a threat and all of that- I honestly did do a few stupid things but it really wasn’t about anything sexual at all. I had lived such a sheltered life in high school, no social life at all, and I thought having a friend group and a girlfriend wo…
/r/MensRights10/10/23 10:06 PM

I wouldn’t say that it creates MGTOW by itself but it can over time with experiences. It can create animosity between women and men, men would likely feel that way if the rejection or manifestations of feminism turn tons of people against them or lose their livelihoods
/r/PurplePillDebate10/10/23 03:47 PM

And then here in the west we sometimes have the reverse in certain situations, to prevent women from making decisions
/r/PurplePillDebate10/10/23 03:45 PM
2

EMDR is good for trauma especially with false accusations. I’ve done it, but I realized I don’t exactly have trauma just residual effects from the past that I can’t get over. With it all (my Title IX), I just want people to believe my side of the story and be there to defend me if it ever came up again somehow (a big fear of mine for the far future)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/10/23 02:37 PM
1

I always have a worry in the back of my mind that my Title IX accuser will bring it all up again if I ever became something notable, because I was technically found “guilty” even though most all of it had to do with non-sexual matters
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/10/23 02:35 PM
14

And misunderstandings in sexual and romantic relationships can go both ways, many women tend to convey those misunderstandings and mistakes as evidence that the guy means harm, but then we men also often feel in similar ways
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/10/23 02:33 PM
39

Basically if you’re not explicitly desirable or attractive or confident/socially skilled you probably mean harm and are a creep/incel/beta male/“nice guy.” Or if you just don’t meet male gender stereotypes and roles you must have something wrong with you (despite many feminists saying men should be more sensitive and emotional and all that, which isn’t what a decent amount of women really want deep down). I have personal experience with all of this
/r/MensRights08/10/23 09:35 PM
10

The study says that the most common reason for this is fear of rejection, and some people were taking that as the main reason, not MeToo or Title IX or anything else. I was like don’t those things just add to the fear and anxiety people like me face when it comes to romance/sex. Many women don’t realize how much power they have today in the social and romantic spheres (the opposite of the past, which seems to often be the intentions of modern feminism, just flip the gender roles and stuff)
/r/MensRights08/10/23 09:33 PM

I wouldn’t say it’s synonymous with unattractive, more like undesirable or socially stunted/challenged (I have firsthand experience with the latter)
/r/PurplePillDebate07/10/23 11:29 PM

It’s not because of natural phenomena, it’s mainly because of hypergamy and women feeling entitled to the most attractive and desirable men (basically reverse incel mindset but they don’t get criticized for it). Often times when presented with this feminists will often say that some males in other species or in society are just not supposed to have a romantic/sexual partner because they’re inherently undesirable
/r/MensRights07/10/23 01:26 AM
8

As if women/societal power players have no role in this- for example quite a few women think that men inherently mean bad things when something goes wrong in relation to romance/sex, even if the guy doesn’t mean wrong and doesn’t want to cause any harm. It’s almost like a lot of those women just demonize all forms of male sexuality, not to mention hypergamy. The biggest reason for guys not approaching women is apparently fear of rejection, but all of those other instances and potential outcomes …
/r/MensRights07/10/23 01:20 AM
3

Yes- it’s only the 1% of men that are really the problem when it comes to this, but feminism ascribes it to every man, even those who are different and have legitimate struggles
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/10/23 12:19 PM
33

Yeah, my Title IX I think was basically my accuser using feminist victimhood for ulterior motives, basically to get me kicked out of school because people thought I was a creep and a potential school shooter (which I learned from the report). And she claimed to be so understanding and sympathetic and woke toward people with disabilities and stuff- I think a lot of it was self-serving. But women are more socially skilled and influential often so I kinda get it

This was basically my Title IX case, as I’ve mentioned before it was complicated and not really about sexual misconduct and I know I didn’t do anything wrong. But we didn’t think it would go as far as it did so we tried to appeal it, we got copies of my old IEP and letters from my therapist saying I was on the spectrum and had anxiety and struggled with the social piece all that and had personal character references. Unfortunately they would only change it if the appeal showed procedural miscond…

Oh of course, but stop trying to hide it under the guise of self-empowerment and that you don’t really want/like men’s attention. I think a lot of it comes from only wanting said attention from specific men, often times the most attractive guys. It’s another instance when feminist and incel ideology is basically two sides of the same coin when it comes to romance/sex
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/10/23 04:51 PM
3

That, not to mention how MeToo/Title IX, which originated from safety culture, have changed social mores
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/10/23 02:36 PM
1

And women don’t see how they how much they control/have a role in male loneliness when it comes to romance/sex. Like in high school or college if girls think you’re weird or creepy that’ll get over to guys (since guys and girls have that mutual desirability for coolness/popularity/social conformity at that age) and you’ll be ostracized by everyone- that kinda happened to me leading up to and even after my Title IX case. Women are very socially influential in short
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/10/23 02:25 AM

Some people/feminists will respond to that with “she’s doing that for herself,” but what the hell’s the point of being sexual if you don’t want to be sexualized

I don’t think the main issue is preferences it’s just hypocrisy in saying they want a non-traditional man when they really will tend to prefer a traditionally masculine guy. I wish it wasn’t this way being a sensitive guy with low confidence and esteem, but it is. If you do it too much you’ll get derided as a creep or a “nice guy/beta male” who thinks they deserve sex
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/10/23 02:15 AM
15

Yeah, there’s this one girlboss type I know and her relationship with her fiancé seems to be pretty much “let me do whatever I want and you don’t have much freedom to do what you want”
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/10/23 02:12 AM
14

This is the big discrepancy between what women think they want/what society and feminism tells them they want versus what they actually want. It’s complicated- women say they want a sensitive and emotional and not traditionally masculine guy but they also want a guy with those qualities and abilities subconsciously. And as others have said men can’t escape their gender roles and even if they wanted to, many women wouldn’t change to be attracted to them. Lots of women I’ve seen say they hate “tox…

You got a downvote, but I agree with this- there’s also an oxymoronic left-wing social conservatism/Puritanism that very few people discuss. It’s especially present with stuff like this or with POC/women having no agency
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/10/23 02:24 PM
31

“Men always have the worst intentions when it comes to sex, and mean to intentionally hurt women or are just weird and creepy for wanting it”- feminist-influenced women The funny thing is that none of that occurs when the woman actually thinks the guy is attractive or likes the guy, and they often feel they deserve the hottest/best guys (which is also funny because that’s basically the incel mindset reversed)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/10/23 03:19 AM

I’ve mentioned this before on here but I remember that infographic on instagram that said “it’s okay to be sexual but not to be sexualized” for women. It’s like it’s okay for women to be sexual for no other purpose than self-satisfaction, but if a man wants to be that way or reacts to a woman being sexual they’re bad. I just don’t get the point of acting/dressing in a sexual manner just for its own sake for women, like the purpose of being sexual is to be sexualized in my opinion
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/10/23 03:16 AM

I’ve seen them- they think all guys are conservative and selfish, which is far from the truth. Also it’s just another thing to show that women’s issues are always going to be worse than men’s, which obviously is also bad

I noted it on another comment on this thread but it really came to a head when I posted this screed that said I didn’t like all these people and I wanted them to hurt like I did- I didn’t mean it that way but it made them feel like I would shoot up the school because I didn’t have a friend group or a girlfriend, whereas I just felt extremely bad about not having those things and feeling lonely and having low confidence/esteem, and most of all feeling like I didn’t fit in at all. It’s strange how feminism has influenced many women to consider all men as a potential threat to their well-being/lives, but that’s kind of the point I think. It’s not very likely at all and it’s a very small subset of people who are legitimately murderers/rapists. It’s also convinced many women that any sexual misgiving or mistake by a man is some form of sexual misconduct because they think all men want to harm women. Pretty much, since they’re more socially skilled, especially at the teenage/young age. By that I mean socially influential. It’s been that way since Obama and Biden put out the DCL and all that- the latter had it as a pet issue despite all of his alleged activities that would have probably got him expelled from college if they’d happen there under Title IX. I was mainly thinking about when they are shown a man who struggles with socializing and dating/romance and they typically end up saying “stop complaining and be traditionally masculine” in the subtext. One example I remember was when this radfem said about a guy who struggled with romance and sex and was airing it out said “he must be a porn-addicted beta male incel”

Emotional labor has been really bastardized, it originally just meant people who had to deal with uneasy people in the workplace, now it basically represents anything that people don’t want to deal with in others, which totally breaks the idea of social cohesion

It’s a 1972 law that had good intentions and purposes when it was formed, to give boys and girls equal opportunities in education, it helped break the hardcore gender roles of the past. But in recent years, it’s been used to justify often further unnecessary programs to help women in education while totally ignoring men’s issues. Pretty much, I said on another comment that it’s basically the same effect as being called “creepy,” when most guys aren’t really creepy or violent who are called that. Yes there are guys (and women) who are truly like that but not a ton, I have firsthand experience with being considered creepy and an incel even though I have always struggled with socializing and romance and making friends and self esteem/confidence
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/09/23 01:23 AM
25

The problem is that there’s no delineation between the two, and even if you have legitimate concerns or issues or criticism when it comes to romance or just socializing in general and you come out with them it’s likely they’ll call you an incel or creepy

Or really any guy who isn’t traditionally masculine or struggles with confidence/self esteem/social interaction, whether that’s due to mental health/neurodivergence or cultural issues or whatever. To me it’s now synonymous with “creep/creepy”
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/09/23 01:19 AM
15

I agree with your delineation between lower case incels and uppercase Incels, but the latter are often just the former who couldn’t take it much anymore. I just wish society would recognize how men are often lonely and depressed and unfulfilled and help us, especially women. That’s the way to prevent violent Incels. We want intimacy and to be loved, we are human and our emotions aren’t that significantly different than women’s

I could technically be defined as an “incel” as well, but I don’t buy into their stuff either. I think that is often conflated with guys who have legitimate questions and worries over why they have such a hard time with romance/sex/socializing in general. I have a lot of the same issues as you do, I have low self esteem and confidence, I’ve always hated putting effort into things etc. I haven’t internalized the feeling of sex as bad as you have, but I’m nervous about it because of my Title IX ca…

I don’t think it’s just that, but I think guys who have issues with socializing deserve sympathy and help, being one of them myself. A lot of men who are seen as “creeps” and “weirdos” have these challenges and want to try but having low self confidence and esteem and not great social skills makes people tend to think the wrong/worst things about a person instead of treating them as someone who just wants to be accepted and have connections
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates12/08/23 02:11 AM
17

This. A lot of the subtext from all of those “trad” masculinity advocates is basically sacrifice your self and your interests and what you want to do and who you are because being a man is about working hard and being a husband, father, provider and role model. It’s a load of crap imo. It’s important to help others and be there for others but there needs to be a balance between the individual and those in your life
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates11/08/23 04:08 PM
3

It depends on what your definition of masculinity is. A lot of trad types seem to think it’s basically sacrificing yourself and working hard as possible to attract women and be a good father/provider. And then espousing conservative/traditional values. A lot of it is that men haven’t been able to escape their traditional gender roles
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates11/08/23 04:05 PM

I’ve always thought about how I think women objectify men, but often it’s more subconscious/under the radar. And I understand the non-sexually empowered women thing, you see that a lot with Title IX. If something goes wrong or they regret it in any way it’s sexual misconduct/assault. Even with just talking or dating or hitting on girls, especially when you struggle with confidence and socializing like I have. My Title IX case was really more about being seen as a creep and a weirdo and a threat …

I can really relate to this, but my experience with Title IX is really complicated. It was basically a substitute for a formal disciplinary hearing but that was even more tenuous than what I supposedly did sexually (which I didn’t even do). I’ve read the comments on that piece when I saw it. People don’t really see the issue that’s really at hand with incels, no one ever gives any advice or policy recommendations that focus on making socializing and romance better, it’s not just education and jobs
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/08/23 02:06 AM

To me it’s selectively used on guys or groups of guys they don’t like, like someone could do behavior that’s “toxically masculine” and get away with it or have women like it but for men who aren’t super confident or whatever get castigated for it
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/08/23 09:54 PM
6

Yeah, all the MeToo and Title IX stuff and my experience with it showed me that a lot of the supposed sympathy toward people on the spectrum or with social/cultural challenges and differences goes away when it’s guys who want to have sexual experiences. We’re seen as creeps and weirdos because we’re not confident or comfortable with ourselves or don’t understand things, whereas some kind of stereotypical guy will have it so easy and will do the same stuff and not be seen that way
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/08/23 06:49 PM

Total apathy and identitarianism when it comes to men’s issues, if they focused on male socialization and preventing incels that would be the main thing. I feel the same way, because the people who’ve hurt me most in my life were peer women (not family). The girl who bullied me a lot in 8th grade and ruined my self esteem and then the girl who accused me of sexual misconduct under Title IX. And the thing is that they both were well-liked and stuff, people were aware of them, all things I’ve wanted in my life. It’s similar to what Matt Damon said about MeToo, there should be a huge difference between accidentally touching someone and sexually assaulting someone but the movement conflated the two. Not to mention how lots of these creepy/assault things tend to target/go after men who are different or have social challenges unfairly like myself

You can’t forget Title IX type stuff, which isn’t really the criminal justice system, but is arguably so much more discriminatory and punitive toward men, especially men who are different or have challenges
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/07/23 11:35 PM

Well it’s only superficial because a lot of the solutions to men’s issues often require women to give up things they either are biologically wired to desire or powers/positions they don’t want to give up. Also, it’s easy to blame large ideologies than to actually provide help/build a system that would mitigate the issues
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/07/23 03:58 AM
11

That’s modern feminism for you, whether if it’s liberal or radical
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/07/23 02:05 AM
1

I was okay with feminism up until the second wave, maybe it’s just because I like Paglia/Hoff Sommers type libertarian feminism, but anything else sucks. Radical and liberal feminism, whatever
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/07/23 02:03 AM
4

This trope drives the whole plot of Barbie from what I’ve heard
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/07/23 02:01 AM

I saw an instagram post a while ago that said it’s okay to be sexual for women but not to be sexualized, and I was like why would you wear certain clothing or act a certain way if you didn’t want the attention?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates22/07/23 10:54 PM

I don’t view it as a problem, the article was posted in my opinion to show the hypocrisy of women saying they want sensitive guys but they really don’t. I think we can all experience emotions, it’s obviously bad for anyone to not be able to control their emotions or let their lack of emotional regulation control their lives. So as long as you can handle it and it doesn’t rule you I don’t see anything wrong with expressing any specific emotion
/r/MensRights11/07/23 05:22 AM
6

More of the social influence, I mean there are undeniable sex differences but that’s mainly about how those emotions manifest/are shown. Anyone can feel any emotion
/r/MensRights11/07/23 05:14 AM
6

Exactly, those emotions you mentioned are what I was hitting at
/r/MensRights11/07/23 05:08 AM
9

No I’m talking about sadness, being willing to cry, relating on an emotional level, being sensitive, we all have those emotional capabilities regardless of sex
/r/MensRights11/07/23 05:07 AM
13

Well yes, but I was more talking about like sensitive emotions
/r/MensRights11/07/23 04:20 AM
2

It’s fine if women have their own lives, they just need to realize that if they’re in a committed relationship they need to act like they’re in one and be aware of envy/jealousy, which is common in most people
/r/MensRights11/07/23 03:37 AM
12

Pretty much, the social world today is so fucked up, we’re so atomized and commoditized it’s not even funny, and people like me who feel lost with it all because of extra struggles get no sympathy/help
/r/MensRights11/07/23 03:35 AM
55

I think it’s possible to be both masculine and emotional, but men shouldn’t be criticized for being masculine (especially when the women who write these types of articles want masculine men but don’t admit it). Also men should be able to experience a whole set of emotions and not be seen as less of a man for experiencing them
/r/MensRights11/07/23 03:34 AM
9

It’s feminism mainly, and that impacted policy. It’s especially the worst for “different” guys like me (I’m on the spectrum). I think a lot of that influenced my Title IX case
/r/MensRights27/06/23 03:10 AM
2

It’s obviously possible to be for women’s rights and be against/skeptical of feminism, I’m personally pro first and most of the second wave stuff but anything post that is just misandry and failure to understand evolutionary developed limitations
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/06/23 05:24 AM
3

I could go on and on about this with Title IX and MeToo, like it’s okay for women to want sex and all but if something goes wrong it’s always never their responsibility/fault. Especially with “different” guys. Not to mention how a lot of women will be sexual but claim to not want to be sexualized, but what’s the point of being sexual then?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates26/05/23 03:35 AM
2

There’s so many double standards- one I was thinking about recently was that when men are picky with a potential partner (mainly straight guys) they must be an incel or something but it’s okay when women say men ain’t shit and want this ideal of perfection
/r/MensRights23/05/23 02:36 AM
2

This is only quasi-political but I think we need to form an organization that provides free/low-cost Title IX defense to accused men, they have it for women who want to falsely accuse and all of that. The advocacy groups do good work but we need to focus on that and also changing the culture to be less vindictive, especially toward those guys who are “different”
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/05/23 03:48 AM
2

That’s the thing I’ve heard from the trads, that exact line of thinking, and even though I’ve been going further and further away from them (I used to agree much more with them), I don’t think it’s wrong
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/05/23 03:46 AM
3

Probably why we should figure out ways to bring costs down so people can have kids earlier or at least pay more so only one parent can work and support the family full on
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/05/23 03:44 AM
5

Try to convince the trads that- they’ll be like “traditional gender roles are the best,” and there’s weirdly left wing trads now
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/05/23 03:43 AM
2

Basically after my Title IX case, it was a ton of bullshit, and then just my experiences with my challenges with being on the high end of the spectrum and having some mental health issues and struggling with socializing/having social experiences
/r/MensRights15/05/23 03:51 AM
4

Ironically that was when my Title IX came along, and I know I didn’t do anything wrong sexually, I was socially naive and stupid but it was a ton of bullshit. Especially after Trump won those types were looking for people to bring out their anger on and got even more distrusting of others
/r/MensRights15/05/23 03:48 AM
3

Your second point has me thinking about when people I trust tell me I’m being too picky with friends and others, I don’t think it’s bad to be picky in the current climate. I personally don’t want someone “weird” or woke or whatever, I want someone outgoing and bubbly specifically- that’s arguably the most important quality for me
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/05/23 05:51 PM
4

I explained all the challenges I have in my own comment but I feel the same as you
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/05/23 05:46 PM
5

I would like to get married someday but I’m not very good socially, I hate trying/putting effort into stuff, I’m scared of getting into issues (because my Title IX case was pretty fake and vague), I am having trouble finding a job in my field, I am scared of sex even though I want to have it, I’ve never dated or had sex with anyone. I’m on the very high end of the spectrum so I still don’t fully understand how people get into romantic relationships, I still have a lot of personal issues, I don’t…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/05/23 05:44 PM
2

There’s been a lot of articles on this recently, but I haven’t seen papers except for maybe one
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/05/23 05:41 PM
1

This is a difficult situation, they only say that men are always the aggressors and women need their sex only spaces because they’re mostly abused by men only, which is kinda wrong just because women don’t tend to use violence against other women
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/05/23 11:53 PM
5

I think the even bigger problem is the social and romantic difficulties many of us face, for which there is not much of a realistic solution in my opinion apart from increasing pay for male-dominated jobs and overall
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/05/23 05:05 AM
13

23 paragraphs in fact, that’s what I first saw that got me to read the article
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/05/23 06:43 AM
15

This was at a prep school, but the point still stands
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/05/23 05:00 AM
15

Exactly, that’s how a lot of these people are, in this case another guy made it all up but the point still stands. It’s basically my Title IX case over again, my accuser was exactly the “inclusive and accepting” type, but she wasn’t that way to me. I’m not saying I didn’t do anything socially stupid because I did but the sexual misconduct didn’t happen at all, they used that as a proxy to get rid of me for the social stupidity and naïveté I had. And you can’t rule out ulterior motives, the guy w…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/05/23 04:59 AM
4

Yes, and I was found “guilty” under Title IX because it was more or less a proxy for my social stupidity/naïveté/learned helplessness- it was super vague and I know I didn’t do anything wrong sexually but between the lack of evidence/he said, she said type stuff and all the external context it’s really complicated
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/04/23 07:04 PM
2

Man Talks by Connor Beaton is really good
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/04/23 06:20 AM
4

Well it’s a challenge when all you get when you explain you have trouble, especially in the romantic and social areas, is that you’re an incel or irredeemable or you must be fucked up or something and your problems are fake and all that
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/04/23 04:01 AM
1

Especially when it’s so broad it almost delegitimizes real sexual assault/rape and makes a mockery of real victims, and also when it’s used for ulterior motives (which it often is, because a lot of the stuff isn’t even criminal)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/04/23 03:59 AM
2

Basically, it was used as a tool for non-sexual purposes in my case, I’ll admit I was socially stupid and naive and did some dumb shit that hurt me but the sexual stuff didn’t really happen but was vague enough to sound like it did happen. It was mainly because I made a post about how I didn’t like all these people and was mad I didn’t have friends or a girlfriend and the girl thought I was targeting her specifically
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/04/23 03:58 AM
7

Gotta love hypergamy and our strange society where it’s all oversexed but fewer and fewer are having actual sex
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/04/23 04:11 AM
6

I’ve seen a lot of right wingers praise that aspect of the USSR, but I think there’s a middle ground between totally sexually repressed society and the paradoxical stuff we have now
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/04/23 04:09 AM
10

I wish I could do this, even though it’s way past and I’ve kinda moved on. I felt I was forced out because of just social misunderstanding and the stupid stuff I did due to my social struggles using the sexual misconduct as a conduit (which didn’t really happen but was vague enough to make it sound like it happened)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/04/23 04:07 AM
4

Did anyone mention Title IX/MeToo type stuff? Like how it goes after men with issues or from different cultures/ethnicities?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/04/23 05:00 PM
1

I would say “I think women are adults who can make decisions for themselves and are responsible/have agency”
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/04/23 04:58 PM
12

Women and men are just as competitive and have similar desires, the way they go around it just manifests itself in different ways
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/04/23 10:03 PM
12

I’ve checked out the book that is mentioned and it’s the usual pro-MeTop/Title IX type stuff. There are a lot better books on the topic that are critical of those things and sympathetic to men. Emily Yoffe is another good pro-male female writer
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/04/23 10:01 PM
15

In a weird way one of the more right wing forms of feminism (libertarian feminism), is the most left wing as it treats women as equals and adults who can make choices
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/04/23 03:49 AM
2

Exactly, all men’s problems are seen as intrinsic and that we’re all misogynistic or creepy or inferior or hateful if we have said problems
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/04/23 09:45 PM
1

Speaking of lost boys, you should read Tom Nichols’ Atlantic article about them, it’s horrible and victim-blaming
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/04/23 09:44 PM
1

I just never felt I got that teachers/other students got the best impression of me, I was never out about being autistic back in high school and for most of college but I always felt people thought I was weird and asocial and didn’t have feelings or didn’t want to have friends/social experiences, therefore I missed out on so much I feel
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/04/23 09:43 PM
2

It’s not just the education itself from my experience, it’s really the social and extracurricular aspect of school, but it’s also true for women on the spectrum. Even if you’re barely on it like me, they won’t help you make friends apart from learning social skills which is embarrassing and makes you feel even more like an outcast
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/04/23 09:42 PM
2

You will see a lot of misandrist type comments everywhere but being here has helped me (made new account because broke phone and couldn’t remember email I signed up with Reddit for before)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/04/23 09:40 PM
1

There’s a lot of anti-feminist or feminist skeptic trad types, but that’s just as bad as the feminist stuff in my opinion
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/04/23 09:39 PM
1

It’s the usual thing- if it’s a woman’s problem it’s society’s fault, but if it’s a men’s issue there most be something inherently wrong with them
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/04/23 09:38 PM
1

I could work with feminism, but I’m not a fan of radfems and most people in general don’t understand my experience
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/04/23 09:37 PM

I think everyone should fear a declining birth rate
