YT vids feed on user feedback and content creator paid promotions. The latter you cannot control, but even negative feedback pushes the videos up. Ignore and move on.

I didn't mind it all that much until I was told that my very condition of being male was ultimately the root cause and that I was therefore sort of doing it to myself.

Glad to say that I agree on that. Probably it would have to be opt-out instead of opt-in, but men should have at least some say in their reproduction. Maybe our disagreement is just a function of how little posts like OP's help in having a reasonable discussion.

Insisting women accept the consequences of sex is hypocritical at best. As is insisting men do it too, isn't it? As you say, there are options open to men prior to conception. However there aren't any after it, are there? How just is it to force fatherhood on a man that doesn't want it on the sole decision of a woman? How fair is it for a child to be born to a father that doesn't want him?

Non sequitur. Unilateral decisions should come with unilateral acceptance of consequences. I would never advocate to impose unwanted pregnancies, with their unwanted children. I strongly support the right for women to be autonomous and fully in control of their reproduction. By the same token, men should have at least some say in whether they want to be fathers or not.

As a grain of salt, this is coming from a concerted and well funded effort from the most conservative sectors in Spanish society. It's not the apartisan, grassroots, concerted effort we need, but a partisan effort to profit from growing discontent on both sides of the aisle. This will not succeed in anything other than dividing and polarizing. I know my country well enough to know.

I’m sure women are nagged but women also have access to silencing tools they can use with a clean conscience that men can’t use without feeling abusive or sexist. Nobody said they couldn't. Women hide it better. Seems like an unprovable oversimplification.

Please bring female violence and rape to discussion on your go-to feminist spaces. Make male victims visible. You will be banned and silenced in all likelihood, but we need male voices to be heard in the gender debate.

I would argue that it is women's rights activism. You don't need patriarchy theory, gender critic analysis, Duluth models and the rest of the nonsense to fight for women's rights. I mean, feminists claim you do, but you don't.

Although I am in no obligation to explain myself in this space, I will answer you since you ask nicely, unlike that obvious troll. I was referring to the obvious, constant vitriol thrown by feminism to the MRM. Expecting the MRM not to be antifeminist with all the hostility feminism has shown towards it is disingenuous. Then there would be the argument of being pro or anti feminism purely on the intellectual merits of the ideology itself. I won't go into that. To me as an individual? Well, you h…

If I were to guess, religions have more bodies of their own correligionaries than of those of other faiths. Look at the current butchering between Shiites and Sunnis. Or look at the Religion Wars in Europe in the 1600s. Whichever the case, counting bodies leads to nothing. Religion in general is a problem.

Accomplished writer, journalist and union activist with a successful career in complex studies complained about just being a housewife. Then divorces husband with little consequence. That is the main "big lie" of this book that the original poster refuses to address. I can relate to this. For a while, I was single in my early thirties. I was fit, reasonably funny and good looking and on a well-paid specialized job. You could use this link to investigate further: http://www.avoiceformen.com/mens-rights/france-upholds-the-ban-on-paternity-tests/ Also, if really only 30% of men claimed they wanted custody (citation needed), maybe we should start framing the issue on the lack of reproductive rights of men and how society is forcing thousands of unwilling men to be fathers when they do not want to, just because there are selfish women that are ready to have children that will never have a loving father. After s…

The father is also there, just a DNA test away. Instead, feminism is helping making that illegal in the Western world and protecting the women that commit paternity fraud. Also, that's the difference between feminism and MRAs, the feminist discourse only focuses on men as failings or aggressors. Maybe feminism should care about the men who do want to be with their children, instead of pushing onto legislation the very gender roles that they so like to rail against. Lastly, if you could provide a…

That is not a valid analogy, since all DDR institutions and powers were removed or dissolved. It's not like the Stasi has cathedrals in East Berlin. For more context: I have been raised in Spain, where the Catholic church had a similar role with Franco, and the hatred many have for it there is much more intense than it is in other countries. Also, for context, one has to keep in mind that the Catholic church was complicit and quite happy with the brutal military dictatorship of 1976-1983, which largely explains the hatred. Not that I justify this trainwreck. Whatever you are fighting for, doing this only goes to alienate everyone else.

No. Mainstream feminist organizations, such as the notoriously powerful National Organization for Women, have lobbied and struggled against shared parenting for decades. Impressive levelheadedness and aplomb for a kid being harassed and threatened. Probably 4chan helped him with that. In any event, I totally agree with him. Including the writer himself, somehow. I wonder what his state of mental health is. I don't think you can be happy and at peace with your own self if you consider yourself to be capable of rape. Reading Marcotte, it would seem that women are so oppressed by the Patriarchy that they don't have friends, family, tripods or cameras with timers. I was a feminist for ages. The first sign that hinted me that being a man was not all about privilege was when I was brought before the judge on a count of refusing to comply with the obligatory military service to my country. Happily, I won the case, but esentially, I had to fight in court not to be sent 500 miles away from home to serve in god knows what military vessel, for a country I don't feel as mine and a military I don't respect. Then, at some point I ended up discovering manvwomanmyth'…

The paradox here is Dr. Fisher's text deserves to be here not for the outrage, but because she paints a compassionate portrait of how men love, backed by numbers, not just sentiment. We are as committed, as generous, as reasonable as women are when it comes to love. Plus, we seem to be less picky and more open to different backgrounds.

People, you have been waaaaay too quick to outrage with this one. First, note the people in Vice have been quite daft when reproducing the original Edge content. The original question is What should we be worried about? Helen Fisher is worried about us. Not in fear of us! Her answer, ellaborated: Scientists and laymen have spent the last 50 years dispelling myths about women. I worry that journalists, academics and laymen will continue to perpetuate an equal number of myths about men. Annually i…

Well, within that very, very specific parallel, yes, you would be right (save for those servicemen and women that are raped every year, see The Invisible War). However, note how the instant you open the scope to other countries and historical times, particularly those in which nations have been at war, this stops being true (think the French in WWI or the Soviets in WWII). http://np.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/29djst/women_have_always_been_the_primary_victims_of_war/cik53us This shows pretty thoroughly how soldiers have the worst part of wars. Debating this would be delusional. Now, you draw a line between conscripts and volunteers. Ahum. What sort of volunteers? Are you considering the motivation for volunteering? First, the poster probably has his own contention points with feminism, but here I have to agree with him that feminism is doing nobody any favor by making women the primary victims of war, when they are not. This does not help women and it is a slap across the face of the soldiers that serve under the administration she works for and those who fought before them. That much should be clear. Second, it is not belittling to say men are the primary victims of war. It is just how things are. Much to…

Please refrain from insulting. Plus, be reasonable and accept that men endure all the suffering that civilians do (think male children and elderly), plus all the suffering of the combatants (both voluntary and conscripted). Death is just how it ends. It also may also include mutilation, prisoner camps, torture, loss of friends in gruesome combat, being submitted to chemical/biological warfare, PTSD, the scarring of having to kill others, etc.

If you went with this attitude and complained about men's issues in feminist forums, you would be accused of derailing, shamed and ultimately banned. Note how, even if your point is rudely derailing the conversation, you are engaged and debated with. Well, i could complain about how Hollywood decided that they would discard the character of Harry Mason, a father that would go to the depths of hell in silent hill just to rescue his daughter, to replace it with a woman. Probably because men bravely questing to rescue their offspring doesn't look right on the screen. But hey, why not have everything revolve around women and nag to change the world instead of doing something productive with that victimhood cash?

She is even more cocky than I am. I feel what you say. But everything I said still stands. Fear serves no purpose. Living in fear is a crappy life. Do what you have to. I read the study, actually. While I agree that rape is more of a serial crime committed by a small percentage of the population, the 6.4% still looks too high a proportion for me, particularly at an average of 4 rapes each. The resulting number of rapes is simply in the millions. If these were true, rape would be the most frequent crime and a daily occurrence in our lives. At least in Europe, it isn't.
/r/MensRights22/05/14 05:57 AM

I am late to the party but simply these figures don't add up to me. Are we supposed to believe that 6% of men rape at an average of 4 rapes each? This sounds preposterous no matter how you look at it. Funny how Koss's methodology arrives again at one-in-four female students raped.

It is nice that they refer to DSK's case. There are many mass genetic studies that would benefit if massive data were to be made available by parents. While I get your concern, I would make the genetic test an opt-out option (much like being an organ donor in Finland, which has a donor-by-default law, if I am not mistaken). What an utter load of nonsense. In any case, let them try this strategy. Soon, they will figure out that the previous feminisms "liberated women sexually" and have contributed to a considerable delay in marriages and families. If they are to try to commoditize their sexuality, they will soon discover they are doing so in a market that is saturated and, thus, the value of the commodity itself is at its lowest in history. I couldn't disagree more. Most women actually show empathy towards men, particularly when engaged in long relationships. Sure, we need to be strong most of the time, but good women are there in our lows to help us. It is feminism who, by its own design, destroys women's empathy towards men. That crossed my mind. Actually what I was going for here is not demonizing this activity, but get the community's feedback on this topic. Thing is, a side of me is OK if those men are OK. On the other hand, those men are getting positively exploited because of their inadequacy and feelings of low self-worth (since this practice is described as self-destructive for those men). Also there seems to be this narrative rationalizing taking advantage of a submissive man, which would never exist when ta…

As I am sure that other members will answer your question with specific details, I am going to go another way. What if it was the case? What would that change? Would that justify anything? In what way would the suffering of the few be diminished in any way by the suffering of many? What is achieved leaving victims in the dark or downplay their importance? Nothing. And that is the problem I see with many feminist takes on DV and rape (not saying you are a feminist), they monopolize the attention,…

I am amazed at how some brands of feminism claim that they are helping to fight the rape culture but if you show them actual statistics that rape is actually going down they go ballistic. So, in Jezebel's world view, the only valid stand is that feminism is a powerful agent in the fight against rape, but which is failing consistently to achieve anything.

Sorry in advance if the link is not legit. If it isn't I'd recommend getting this documentary through legitimate sources or to watch on cinemas if available. That said, this is a gem that opens the viewer to the heart of many problems of Japanese society and how verbal abuse and humiliation is an everyday occurrence for the Japanese, in this case, Japanese men. It's tough to watch, but I totally recommend it.

Though I agree with the general effort, the quote about archaeology seems a bit idiotic. First, the author dismisses the entire field as an unreliable source of info and in the very next image argues that a lack of writing and architectonic remains is what is limiting our knowledge about the cavemen... Who but archaeologists have deciphered those writings and interpreted the architecture of those civilizations?! (Not to mention that archaeologists research all periods of history, not only prehis…

Women understand that wearing short dresses or walking home alone or the state of being drunk ups their chances of being assaulted. The fight against victim-blaming is not a denial of a cruel reality. It's an attempt to punch out the idea that their experience is less legitimate because 'it could have been avoided.' Because what happens, and this is what we crazy feminazis refer to as 'rape culture,' what happens is that the claims of invalidity these men and women face drive down the reports of…

So... their estimate is that 0.5% of the British population are paedophiles? One in 200 hundred? I find this figure dizzying and very hard to believe. Mind you, not saying that you are wrong or that the studies of Mr. Findlater (what an unfortunate name for a researcher) are wrong. I am reluctant to call portrait-defacement "violent". Graffiti isn't a violent form of vandalism. I haven't portrayed the protest as "violent", but as destructive. Graffiti may not be a violent form of vandalism, but it is a destructive one and I don't think vandalism is a good strategy to win the public opinion anyway. I find that shrill, destructive protest against a nation's symbols (even the portraits of those "unelected sponges" as Bill Bailey used to put it), is counter-productive, disruptive and will equate, to the British public's perception, F4J with the SJWs and radfems. Non-violent, humor-driven protest is way, way more productive.

My point still stands. Judging if a media portrayal of a particular man or woman incurs or not in "sexual objectification" by the particular tastes of the speaker is ridiculous. I find this view biased and intellectually dishonest. I think this comment sums it up very well: http://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/1jnun7/i_always_hated_the_false_equivalency_comic/cbglkqm

Wow, what a sense of entitlement. So basically, males are only objectified when the particular feminist you are talking to in a given moment actually feels attracted to them!? By the same token, fashion models in Vogue and other magazines are not being sexually objectified, just because I don't really fancy impossibly tall and skinny women without visible curves.

I don't like the take on male sexuality here, because the article seems to convey the implicit notion that the "womanizer" stereotype is a bad thing. Yes, it is an incorrect portrayal of the majority of men. But I feel that what is frowned upon here is not the false portrayal of men, but womanizers themselves. Having seen their kickstarter trailer, I'm left with very ambivalent feelings about it. On one hand, I think it should be commended for its intention of tearing down the "man up" spiel we are constantly given since we are kids. As you see, many users here are in favor of women's right to choose if they want to carry on and be mothers or to abort. Weirdly enough, it looks to me that you consider that men are not entitled to that choice (or that the only choice we do have to avoid fatherhood is to somehow interfere with women's bodily autonomy). Of course women have been oppressed through history... As men have! In my opinion, the catastrophic fallacy of feminist theory is treating women and men as classes on their own right. Women pursue an ethic of care, men are more about justice. This is a perfect example of this. Well, there was a time when women also cared about the men in their lives. I'd say that this could be attributed to feminist indoctrination affecting judges and lawmakers (most of the latter being men, incidentally). It should be remembered, IMHO, that we are fighting an ideology war, not sex wars.

In my native Spain, suicide is already by far the first cause of violent death, with men's (pretty much as everywhere else) being around 80% of the cases. In any case, there is no National/Regional Plan for the Prevention of Suicides anywhere to be found! In a country with a dedicated network of DV courts (61 women dead in 2011), there is not even time to draft a damned booklet for hospitals to have a plan to respond to this (3,429 dead in 2009). The WHO has already warned Spain to do something …

Quoting the very article: However Dr Maxwell Burton-Chellew, an evolutionary biologist in the department of zoology at the University of Oxford, challenged the theory. I totally agree but... There seems to be a major oversight: for all of prehistory and most of history (i.e. all of our physiological evolution) women didn't use to live long enough even to reach menopause. How could a phenomenon that was statistically marginal (a woman reaching menopause) influence in any way our evolution? As far as the prehistoric man is concerned... all females were fertile!
