If she's paid absolutely any attention to me while I'm in there, it's obvious that I know what I'm doing, so the "Hey, what exercise is that? Can you help me?" approach will obviously ring hollow and douchey as well. Dude he just explained in his OP why that's a bad idea.

I think /u/petitetortue098's first comment is useful, in suggesting that you approach it from the perspective of communicating better. I also think that /u/SedBob's comments are useful, in suggesting that you expand both your hobbies and the types of women that you talk to.

Hey, no worries. At the end of the day you need to do what makes you happy. If you decide at some point later in time that you want to make some changes, there are some good starting points here from the other posters who responded.

So you can look at different ways of expanding these: 1.) Weightlifting/Bodybuilding: this doesn't translate directly, but consider joining a coed sport. It's a way of applying/showing off your strength gains from lifting, and a way to meet active, fit women. 2.) Reading: consider joining a book club. 3.)
