Well, yeah. The democratic party isn't left-wing either.

You just have to realize that Biden et al are not left-wing.

Can you answer my question to why mass shootings don't happen in other countries/entire continents? Are guns the only thing that makes America different? There are some other countries out there with easy access to guns that don't typically have issues with school shootings. Including some war-torn countries where even actual military hardware is easy to get.

while ignoring the root of the problem which are guns Nah, that's an easy cop-out. Don't need any societal change, any reflection, or any real effort if we can just say 'ban the guns!' The guns have always been there. Cheap surplus M1 carbines were a dime a dozen back in the day, with far less restrictions on buying them than we have today. Back in the day, you actually could order one in the mail and have it delivered to your house with no background check. But mass shootings were rare, despite…

Just because they were bullies doesn't mean they weren't bullied. Kids who are bullied when they were younger often grow into bullies as teens, once they're no longer the weakest one around. The abuse victim becomes the abuser. Not always, of course, but often.

Also men having less support network and less likely to seek treatment or help for mental illness.

Honestly, I think a big part of it is the media circus around it all. These lonely, fucked-up young men know that a significant school shooting will be all over the news, and that they'll be the star of the show. It's likely the only fame and recognition they'll ever get in their lives, and they may feel like it's the only way anybody will ever pay attention to them or their grievances. (Does that justify anything? Absolutely hell no. But if we're going to fix this problem, we first need to unde…

Social sciences often aren't even 'stamp collecting' -- they're not real science at all. (And actual 'stamp collecting' science is still valid and useful. You could spend an entire -- and very worthwhile -- scientific career just seeking out, identifying, and classifying previously undescribed species of microbes.)

Did you ask the same question to women about men? They will never do that, because they know what kind of answers they will get and that it will contradict their narrative. I.E. if you polled women the same way, you would find the inverse: they (mostly) prefer men that are dominant and aggressive. Or it will backfire because they give exactly the same answers: the women want agreeable and empathetic men. Because people in general want others to be agreeable and empathetic, regardless of gender.

I'll usually see, "Feminism is fighting the patriarchy, and the patriarchy hurts men too!" But when you get down to it, 'The Patriarchy' tends to be a very vague term that just generally means 'everything that's bad in the world'.

Man ... and even uses gendered language too, just to make sure it doesn't apply to male rape victims.

What this ignores is that it's a ruling class invention aimed towards dealing with working-class and marginalised people. What it very pointedly ignores. This is very much by design. Divide people by gender, by sexuality, by race, by religion ... all in a (very successful) attempt to prevent them from seeing how they're divided by class.

"if they don't want to get pregnant, they should not have sex" Shit argument no matter who you're using it on, because they never make any exception for rape.

Never question a temp ban. On any subreddit. Because this is always what happens -- the temp ban turns into a permaban and you're blocked from messaging the mods to contest that. Literally every single time. Doesn't matter how right you are. Arguing with mods = permaban.

This is all anti-science people. Of any kind. Find me a single creationist who can accurately explain the theory of evolution. They don't have to believe in it -- just be able to explain how it 'supposedly' works without being completely wrong about it. Find me a single anti-vaxer who can accurately explain how vaccines are supposed to work. Anybody who understands the science ends up believing the science ... because how could you not? Once you understand it, you can clearly see that the eviden…

lets use this current thing as an excuse to hate on conservatives I guess just reporting on what conservatives are doing counts as hate on conservatives nowadays.

At this point in the US, the female population eligible to vote is almost certainly higher than the male, because males are more likely to be convicted of felonies and have their voting rights revoked.

Yes, just like how racists often don't accept that racism exists.

Well, ideally, the solution wouldn't be to get rid of women's scholarships -- it would be to add equivalent men's scholarships. Equality is good, but it's better to lift everyone up equally than to beat everybody down equally.

Apparently "evidence-based sentencing" doesn't involve evidence of the crime It's supposed to be sentencing based on evidence of crime reduction -- what sentences work best for reducing crime without being unnecessarily cruel?

My coworker said “happy international women’s day” today on one of our calls. Yeah ... there's nothing wrong with that part.

"race to indignation" One of the most popular track and field events at the Oppression Olympics. Nearly the most popular overall, only beaten out by mental gymnastics.
