This is eye opening. My ex did this with bike riding, hiking and stand up paddle boarding (which sounds silly but was the worst one). At least with hiking/biking I’d justify that he was more fit than I was and he’d stop and wait for me to catch up. But when we used to SUP together he’d always be like 20 yards ahead and it was just so frustrating because it was supposed to be a fun/chill activity to do together. I totally agree and is something I’ve struggled with my dad with. The invisible load that women carry is often completely ignored by men. I’ve struggled with it in my past relationship in the way we split chores, I was doing all of the managing/planning and he was just executing on the simpler tasks. Seeing this play out with my parents and myself has definitely been a wake up call to avoid this in future relationships.
