I think it very much depends on your definition of sacrifice and whether it is mutual or not. There are times we put each other's needs before our own, but not to our own detriment. I do absolutely agree marriage should be all of these things, I was simply pointing out that trials and difficulty are unavoidable, and the level of each can be impacted by uncontrollable life events and stressors.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/02/23 06:23 AM

Compromise and caring about the needs of your partner doesn't equal misery. Marriage will have periods of trials and difficulty, but yes it does require conscientiousness and consistent communication.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/02/23 05:45 AM

Because we live in a society with the mentality of "my needs are my top priority". Compromise is not a concept people want to engage in, nor is putting in the work instead of instant gratification.

Except I hate shopping, don't wear name brand clothes (rarely buy new clothes period), could care less about shoes or purses, and don't wear makeup unless for an event or date night. We both work and our checks go into a joint account that bills are paid out of. We try to have one date night a month. So I guess that blows a hole in that, huh?

No disrespect, but these are very shallow evaluations of a relationship. My husband and I don't try to determine who married "up or down.". We built a relationship and life together because we love each other, not because one settled for a time and the other thought they couldn't do better. My husband accepts me for me and vice versa.

I prefer a female just because of my comfort level, as does my husband. It is not that either one of us are sexualizing it, its just a comfort thing
/r/PurplePillDebate03/02/23 04:33 PM

Men (and women) should strive to better themselves because they want to be better people, not because it might increase their sexual opportunities.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/01/23 11:49 AM

Yes, I'm sure there is a small subset of people that are this shallow, but as a general rule successful relationships are not based on this in the least.

How so?

1) I commented with a link to an actual study. But here it us again just so it doesn't get lost in all the comments. https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/2372732220984491 2) Have you considered the type of people you associate with? Yes there are horrible, narcissist, abusive people, both male and female. If we choose to believe people when they show us who they are, then we should be led to be far more selective about our social circles (and if single, dating pool.) This will lead to much s…

What studies? Are we talking about reputable peer reviewed scientific studies or surveys? How can you be truly intimate with someone if you hide who you really are?
/r/PurplePillDebate23/01/23 02:32 PM
3

I genuinely care about his feelings, and our relationship is much closer when we are both honest about how we feel.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/01/23 02:26 PM
4

You do realize you can experience both in the same relationship right?
/r/PurplePillDebate21/01/23 08:51 PM
1

Dude its just getting sad at this point.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/01/23 12:16 PM

You can stop talking in circles. At least admit you have no valid rationale, you just choose to believe that concept.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/01/23 03:10 AM
1

You do you. An statement with no rationale is not an opinion or belief. I literally said been here a few months, but you proved that I was right from the beginning.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/01/23 01:24 AM
0

Ok cool so you have no rationale, only circular reasoning 👍
/r/PurplePillDebate21/01/23 12:05 AM

Yes they talk about it constantly, but short of insecurity, jealousy, and double standards there isn't much substance. So feel free to share your "biological rationale"🙄
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/23 10:32 PM

A few months isn't new, and I've had many interactions on the sub. Doesn't take long to see the patterns. Idk maybe I just comprehend faster?
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/23 09:50 PM
1

Omg so childish. Ive been on the sub a few months
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/23 09:26 PM
1

We don't have the same libido.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/23 06:54 PM
1

No not greater than 50, but very significantly higher than his.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/23 06:26 PM
1

My husband had a few one night stands, while my n-count is much higher. We have a successful faithful marriage....he didn't care what happened before him, only what happened with him.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/23 05:50 PM
1

So your best rationale is "you must be new so I won't explain it"? That sounds a lot like "this is what I choose to believe and don't have to come up with a logical reason for it."
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/23 12:28 PM

Feel free to back up your argument.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/23 11:07 AM

How is it biology?
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/23 02:00 AM
2

So hypocrisy as I already said.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/23 01:20 AM
2

Again I see read plenty about it, just find the concept intriguing. In fact, in doing so I have seen many men with a count of 20+ talking about how they find a woman with a count of say 5+ disgusting. But as you stated, we are measured by different standards, so you acknowledge the hypocrisy.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/23 01:03 AM
2

No not new, just don't understand the obsession. As a general rule it seems men want to have as many partners as they see fit, yet they expect woman to have a very low count.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/23 12:59 AM
1

Why the obsession and double standard with n-count? A lot of people go through a wild phase and then completely change. Others have zero issue with monogamy. If you take the time to learn each other it will become the best sex regardless of the previous count.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/23 12:42 AM

It is compromise because he still takes care of me when he isn't in the mood. Sex is not everything
/r/PurplePillDebate15/01/23 02:53 PM
6

We have sex 1-5 times a week, and both get off a minimum of once each time, so no I'm not sexually frustrated.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 02:39 PM
7

How did you come to the conclusion that I don't have a fullfilling sex life?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 01:38 PM
10

Because I love my husband, and again different doesn't mean wrong! Why would I trade an amazing relationship for someone who simply wants sex more?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 01:32 PM

My point was that the cancers that have the highest rates of divorce are those that significantly alter a woman's appearance. Truthfully though its pretty shitty all the way around to make vows and then peace out when your spouse gets sick.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 12:05 PM
1

It is interesting when you look at statistics: breast and colorectal cancer have some of the highest divorce rates. However studies also show that a woman diagnosed with cancer has a 20.8% risk of divorce, while a man diagnosed with cancer has a 2.9% risk of divorce.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 11:54 AM
1

If you are married, you made vows "through sickness and health." Would you give your child up if they had cancer? If not, why would you love and remain devoted to them, but not your spouse?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 11:43 AM
1

My mistake I read that wrong (haven't had my coffee yet lol), I thought you said I'm not a woman...
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 11:38 AM
1

Actually I am. My husband and I both started out broke and worked our butts off to get where we are. The only jewelery I wear is a wedding ring set and small stud earrings. I don't buy name brand clothes, I don't buy purses, and the only expensive shoes I buy are running shoes. We live in an average size home and drive average vehicles.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 11:36 AM
1

To each their own I guess. Money was never a determining factor for me.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 11:33 AM
1

Maybe you are hanging out with the wrong women.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 11:30 AM
5

Clearly
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 11:30 AM
1

Not all women are attracted to money. Emotional attraction is attraction to a person's personality, intelligence, morals/beliefs, and goals. Such a meaningless term? Do you really base your relationships only on appearance?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 11:28 AM
1

If you are holding out for an ideal "perfect 10" you will either stay single or have failed relationships due to holding your partner to an unrealistic standard.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 11:25 AM
1

The second part is in regards to partners leaving so frequently when a breast cancer patient either loses one or both breasts, even with reconstruction. They see the change in physical appearance as a reason to leave a long term relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 11:23 AM
1

1) I said the relationship (primarily marriage) failure rate, not the percentage of people who care about appearance. 2) Not basing your relationship choices solely on the level of attractiveness does not mean giving "no shits." Again attraction is subjective, and needs to be more than just physical. You can absolutely find your partner attractive, beautiful, etc without holding them to an unrealistic standard.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 02:09 AM
1

No, I am saying that putting an overemphasis on looks doesn't lead to healthy, lasting relationships
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 02:02 AM
1

I apologize, I misunderstood what you meant, so thank you for clarifying. To my knowledge the statistics are still hovering around 50%. But a very good (but sad) illustration of what I was describing is the fact that preparing for their spouse or significant other leaving as part of patient education for women newly diagnosed with breast cancer.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 01:56 AM
1

Which is fine (and no I am not low single digit). But will a relationship like you are describing last if a partners loses their attractiveness?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 01:44 AM
1

Environment you grew up in doesn't have to determine what kind of woman you are
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 01:36 AM
0

Ok? Not everyone is attracted to every model, because again subjective. Do you consider anyone beautiful who isnt "model level"?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 01:34 AM
1

But minority doesn't mean wrong. Relationships would be far more successful if they were based on more than appearance.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 01:33 AM
1

I can honestly say I have never based a relationship on looks...lol even my husband was like "whoa" when he saw a couple exes, and not in a good way🤣
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 01:29 AM
2

Believe it or not, not everyone bases everything on looks. Looks are very temporary....if that is the only thing holding the relationship together you won't make it.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 01:26 AM
0

So if you find a model attractive does that mean you can't find a "non model" beautiful?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 01:25 AM
3

While some of these can absolutely be true of both genders I will say a couple of things about it. 1) As a general one, one partner is by default the primary parent. 2) There are times where your children need you more than your spouse does, and therefore get more of your attention and energy. 3) Some men seriously care what women wear around the house? Or even running errands? My out of work "uniform" is either jeans and a sweatshirt, or workout clothes. I dress up if we go out, and he definite…

Why do we always see someone who is different from us as needing fixing? My libido has always been higher than my husband's (and no his wasn't higher before me). We are no where even close to a dead bedroom, we just have different levels of desire.... I would much rather compromise so that we can meet each other's needs than try to convince him he is "broken."
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 01:17 AM
6

Beauty is absolutely subjective
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 01:14 AM
1

No, but it definitely adds to the intimacy of the relationship!
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 01:13 AM
6

Or everyone should date someone that they are attracted to physically and emotionally, instead of by their money or attraction "rating."
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 01:11 AM
2

Sorry but I'm not going to debate the ethical permissibility of an adult having sex with a child.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/01/23 12:59 AM
1

That is not even relevant today
/r/PurplePillDebate09/01/23 11:20 PM
2

Husband material is loving, faithful, mature, mutual values, etc.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/01/23 05:54 PM
1

So it stops being the number one priority after "x" amount of time?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/01/23 05:47 PM
2

So if sex is your number one priority does that mean you leave if anything prevents her from having sex?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/01/23 05:37 PM
1

As long as she knows you are only using her for sex it isn't abusive, I do agree with that.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/01/23 03:23 PM
0

I'm saying I'm not going to debate with people who refuse to acknowledge they may be wrong
/r/PurplePillDebate09/01/23 04:30 AM
1

Some men do find it so, but ultimately not my issue so I'm not gonna worry about it.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/01/23 12:57 AM
2

Yall do you. In my 30s I view 18yo as kids but to each their own.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/01/23 12:57 AM
1

It is simple, lack of fully informed consent is wrong.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/23 11:06 PM
1

If both parties are 100% aware of what it is and that it is only about sex then no. A little creepy, yeah. Wrong, no. In that case I there is fully informed consent.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/23 10:54 PM
2

I was on the receiving end years ago. I thought he loved me because he lied his ass off and I was naive. So yes I chose to have sex with him because I didn't know he was preying on my nativity. Turns out he was fantasizing that I was his daughter every time. So please don't act like every case is completely innocent.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/23 10:52 PM
1

That is not what I am saying. We are talking about the barely college age, not someone who has 6 years of adult life experience
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/23 10:48 PM
-1

Disapprove of dating, no. Disapprove of sex, no. Typically "college age" is considered 18-22 (as a generality) so yes when you are 8-12+ years older with nothing in common, its not cool.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/23 10:37 PM
-1

🤦‍♀️
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/23 10:03 PM
-2

Deflection might make you feel better but you are still the guilty party.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/23 09:44 PM
4

So you had no idea you had nothing in common with someone who was barely an adult?
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/23 09:35 PM
0

Nope
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/23 09:34 PM
2

So you tell her you are only using her for sex at the outset?
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/23 09:23 PM
0

So you tell them point blank you want nothing from them other than sex, and if they could just leave you alone other than that that would be great?
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/23 09:12 PM
3

Yeah that isn't "dating" it is using naivety to get what you want sexually.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/23 08:57 PM
-1

A variety of issues (usually with rejection, their relationship with their dad, etc), however the blame falls on the one with the maturity to know better yet chooses to prey on those who are naive.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/23 08:45 PM
-5

Let's not discuss how repulsive it is to be in your 30s trying to "date" barely legal women.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/23 08:43 PM
2

Just going by not mr nice guy and feelings hurt by your jokes. Being a kind person really isn't a gender based trait.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/23 03:10 PM
3

You can be masculine and not use it as an excuse to be an asshole.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/23 03:05 PM
0

Perhaps as a generality, but some women have a higher drive then a lot of men.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/23 07:35 PM
1

Yes; recovery from illness/surgery and major life crisis/stressors.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/23 12:54 PM
2

Yes there is "variety" out there, but being with the same partner (if you do it right) teaches you how to hone technique, and find multiple ways to bring them (and in turn, you) pleasure. A fling won't be able to please you in the same way as a long term partner, its just exciting because its new.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/23 12:45 PM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
