It may have existed to some degree, but I think social media amplified it a thousand fold and made it infinitely worse for men. Personally, a man or woman's sexual accolades is none of my business or concern, unless I'm dating them and want to get into a serious relationship with them (STDs are not easy to get rid of). This fascination with prying into someone's sex life is definitely a millennial / gen z thing, because no one gave a shit about it before. Having sex with the wrong person is far more disastrous, traumatizing and debilitating than not having sex at all.
