I disagree because It depends on the situation. It also does not mean you decided long ago to leave. If someone changes and you call them out on it and try to work on it you are not deciding to leave.

I noticed really significant changes five years ago. I had wondered what happened to her back then. And I’m still grieving to this day. So I guess 6 years of missing what used to be. And yes seeing a therapist.

In my situation I tried with therapy and written out letters and confronting issues head on. Despite my best efforts she ignored it all and I asked to separate. So in a way I was grieving then …and I’m still grieving now. In my situation specifically there were a lot of problems that had been major issues for a long time. But she didn’t see things as issues despite the effect it had on me. Maybe towards the end she felt the change but rather than course correct she doubled down on disrespecting …

I think some injuries cannot be healed. I don’t know how someone can use that type of venom against another in a relationship. I’ve been in your friend’s shoes in a different way. Ultimately, she sounds awful and at the very least therapy would be a must if he wants to try and salvage anything or even for him alone and move on from her.

I appreciate that. I think we both tried but at different times. We did two years of therapy where I felt like she spent most of it attacking the therapist for “taking my side.” However, once we actually split I think she has taken therapy much more seriously but it feels like the bigger changes are in her relationship with other people and it’s largely the same with me. For me, I’ve always been the main care taker since I work remotely. I did drop offs and pick ups and I’m the one that usually …
