I even talked about that in ask feminists. They brought up how egalitarianism is more overarching then feminism and feminism is focused on the female aspect specifically and how it effects different women (intersectionality). I also talked about class structure and how that seems to be a bigger component in treatment of people, but it all comes back to patriarchy and how men chose who has power and who doesn’t. I’m trying to see the world through their eyes, but it’s hard and disheartening. I ag…

Idk, I thought the gender wage gap was disproven but that still seems to be an issue for feminism and if it is true we should do something about it. Women being passed over for leadership and the glass ceiling would be a form of oppression. Legally I think we are mostly equal, still some benefits for men and some for women to iron out. Racism still exists. Sexism still exists. I’m glad to be a man, I don’t know if it would have been easier if I had been born a woman, but transgenderism still see…

More so just talking with feminists about how they are oppressed. I have not reached a conclusion myself yet, but just like men do not have rights and are oppressed in ways, I believe the same is true for women.

That’s just based on my research of feminism

The response I’ve heard is that as the oppressed group, women can understand men (the oppressor) more then men can understand women (the oppressed). I agree that her ideas probably came mostly from her experiences and the experiences of those around her (she comes from a family with 6 sisters) but it’s hard to counter that point without saying “well I’m oppressed too” or by saying “women are not oppressed” which is not true either. Life sucks for everyone in a lot of ways that are different base…

You don't have to! I'm a stranger on the internet! Live your life however you want, but don't expect others to care about your opinion on the internet either! That's what makes the internet so great!

If your own argument can be used against you and achieve the same effect, it was never a good argument to begin with.

Aw shucks, you're gonna make me blush.

Then why ask people to do it for you? If you're not willing to do the same for others, why ask them to do it for you?

Fair enough. All I'm saying is maybe it's time for you to open your mind to other people's experiences and the fact that they may be different from your own.

Male equity issues: The entire legal system (women get convicted at 1/2 the rate as men for the same crime and get 60% shorter prison sentences on average) The draft and physical requirement to be a part of the military Stigma towards men in unconventional field (nursing, teaching) Stigma towards women in unconventional fields (CEO/leadership, construction, agriculture, manual labor) Domestic violence (24% of hetero couples experience domestic violence with 50% being reciprocal and 50% being unr…

Feminism by definition is "the advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes" which inherently is saying women deserve to be equal to men, but does not explicitly say men need to be equal to women. I respect your definition of feminism, but you must acknowledge that your definition does not encapsulate everyone that describes themselves as a feminist and you have no right to tell people they are not a feminist if they do not subscribe to your definition. When men's issues …

I agree the we need to allow women to have choice - both professional and in their personal lives. However, that is only focused on women - how do you solve the problems that men have with this solution? I agree modern men didn't create patriarchy, it was create by men and women in the past and is still being held up and perpetrated by men and women in the present. If feminism is working towards removing the impacts of patriarchy by giving women choice, it inherently is leaving men out of the so…

Is it discrimination against women that they are expected to be better care givers then men, or is it discrimination against men that they are expected to be incompetent to take care of a child? Also women biologically are the only gender that can have children so the expectation that they are the gender who is suppose to have children is valid. Raising children is different however and there is still discrimination towards both men and women in this regards. Higher education was dominated by me…

I think the point you are both making is valid. From your point of view it is a patriarchy, from his point of view it is not a patriarchy, from each of your own experiences you are right. I like the middle ground approach of saying while there are still many patriarchal aspects in society, it is not 100% a patriarchy. Women have power in society today that we should acknowledge they worked for and deserved and power they did not work for. Women also lack power in certain areas where they deserve…

I agree with you that women should be allowed to make their own choices about their own bodies and if they chose to sterilize themselves or get an abortion those procedures should be legally protected. I want to ask tho, how do you feel about male circumcision? If the US were to enact new laws to protect abortion and women's rights to chose to sterilize themselves, should they also enact laws to ban the practice of circumcision unless men make the choice to have it performed?

Unfortunately the definition of feminism is completely subjective to people. That is why there are many different forms of feminism (radical, liberal, conservative, eugenics, moderate, power, victim, marxist, socialist, intersectional feminism) because feminism no longer has a single "real" definition that describes it.

What does it mean to be seen as whole people? I've heard the old saying that men are seen as "success" objects while women are seen as "sex" objects but in both cases people are being seen as objects which reduces their humanity regardless. I don't know what it means to be seen as a whole person, typically people always make assumptions about you to reduce the complexity that is a person. If you go to the grocery store, I feel most people don't see anyone as a whole person, they never stop to th…

Doesn't feminism talk about how masculinity is harmful to men? Isn't that the same as saying men's genders traits are harmful to them? If this is different then the way that women's gender traits are harmful to them I'm open to understanding, but they way you say that sounds like you're saying women's lives are harder because of the gender stereotypes then men's lives are because of gender stereotypes. I don't think it's fair to make assumptions like that, but if you can support it I'd like to l…
