I have a lot of geeky friends, my favorite currently is: *U'lich Jach-Jaj! * Written phonetically, this is a common toast in Klingon. The literal translation being "may your blood scream!" but is not meant any more literal than, "here's mud in your eye."

As long as you can envision yourself as some guy who is a total boss, you're good, imo.

Maybe its my skewed perception then. I'd like some kind of study about this as what I mentioned was completely arbitrary.

Don't have a wedding ring or be standing next to an Alpha. done.

As a hetero male that has been hit on by gay men, I second this. There are some guys that freak out if it happens to them, but (speaking from personal experience) girls seem to get more offended.

The only downside to this one is that leaving the house and getting into a situation where a girl would talk to you could get in the way of everything else.

First thing coming to mind is actually the reverse of what you're looking for. From a lesser known movie called Dream for an Insomniac the main girl says to the guy she's interested in (and is totally cockblocked by him already being attached to someone far more boring/unattractive than she is imo), "Anything but mad passionate love is a waste of time." For a bit more context, a lot of her interaction with him after becoming all goo-goo for him (and subsequently meeting his gf) is basically talk…

I don't like cologne, but I Just started wearing my peacoat for the winter, its great for all those situations where I can't/shouldn't wear my leather jacket.

I have a really random ass memory and mental association of topics. So I tend to do this in a lot of conversations, but sans the flirtation for non-flirty situations of course. Even if it creates a giant digression you're still having/making conversation which is a boat load of lot better than awkward silence...Especially if you're meeting someone for the first time!

Right. If you live in a metropolis like NYC then you probably have a decent public place to meet up that is within walking distance of your or her place. Getting to one or the other is like half the battle.

I have a good time creating innuendos based on what other people say. It requires a minimal amount of wit but usually gets some laughs and shows you're interested.

I almost always meet somewhere neutral for the first date. If she flakes, nbd, brush your shoulder's off, move on. Your cons are the exact reason to meet somewhere neutral first. They also outweigh your pros esp from a woman's point of view. However, I have pulled off using my place as a meet up point for a night out. I offer to drive to say, a concert (for this example) and tell her to meet me at my place so we can head out. Since both people's schedules are almost never in synch, it helps. It …

There have been relatively few times where I have been talking to a girl online and had to leave the computer (real life beckons after all). Note: In all three of these cases I had not communicated with them outside of the computer but all were going very well for an extended period of time. I just said something to the effect of, 'hey, i gtg (work/school/whatever) I'll be back in a few hours. My number is ___ if you wanna text me during class or whatever.' Its more or less to put the ball into …

My two cents: They aren't my primary target, but I think they're fair game until they have a ring on their finger.

Dont! This is the worst possible idea if you like your job. Then again if you don't care about your job then don't take this advice. Sexual harassment can be set off with a hair trigger. There are plenty of women who you don't have to see on a daily basis that will probably be just as willing if not more willing to get with you.

I used to work with two different men, one put a wedding ring on to pick up chicks and the other took his off to do the same thing. When I was married I almost felt like it definitely felt different as if it had some kind of psychological/symbolic power. What I'm getting at: it's all about state of mind.

the problem there would be expecting a woman to be responsible for anything.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
