Normally I don't comment here but something about OP's post that really stuck out to me like a sore thumb was that he actually stood there and explained himself to them after the follow up question. It's a ridiculous question. No one sane is risking getting themselves stabbed for a stranger. I would have laughed, said no, and kept moving. No room for a follow up question, respond to it like the silly hypothetical it is. Taking them seriously was the mistake /u/bf1bro18 made.

Common mistake when looking at film numbers. I wouldn't know any better if I didn't happen to be an avid observer of the box office. I too long assumed that if the gross was higher than the production budget, a film made money. Not the case. First of all films also have a Marketing budget, studios never release the figure publically, but for blockbusters like Ghostbusters that figure can be as high as well over 100m.
