I worked at UPS and we had new full-time sup alsp ex pro football player. He comes to me one day and says I'm "the least best good employee". No clue what homeless shelters are like in Canada, but generally in the states they will let you come inside for the night to stay warm. My advice is get what you need to do done, and get out. If you want them to pay for school, do it. The thing they don't tell you is that you have to apply for EDCOR like 2 weeks before or a week after, in that window. Lots of people take the classes and think they hand over grades at the end and get a check, but that's only part of it. And those people don't get a check. Save recites.
