You can't miss someone you don't remember though. My dad died when I was 5 and I basically have 1 or 2 memories that I'm not sure that are even actual memories of him. I have wondered a lot what kind of person I would've been if he was alive but I honestly can say I don't miss him. I just don't remember him. My mom did an amazing job raising me so I'm ok with it all.

The difference is that Atheist don't make any claims regarding the existence of god. They just say until you prove your claim it hold no weight and it should be disregarded. That's the whole point of Russel's Teapot. If I make the claim that an imaginary teapot that is too small to be seen by our telescopes is flying somewhere between Mars and Jupiter, it would be stupid to expect anyone who challenges that claim to be required to prove it.

I actually do think that things change. I get your point but things aren't really directly comparable. And I concede that I might be a minority in thinking this way but why does it matter that there's a child out there with your DNA?
