I had a former co-worker whose ex-wife never paid a single penny of the child support she was supposed to pay to him for their daughter. 15 years of non-payment of child support, and what did the state and local authorities do to her? Nothing. A man would have spent time in jail, had his driver's license revoked, and had his wages garnished, as state law dictates. I don't make much money, but I haven't received a refund in almost 20 years. It burns my ass that I have to write a check to the IRS every year, and some of my co-workers are getting 10% to 30%+ of their annual income as tax refunds, just because they have kids. Where does that money go? Not for bills or paying for things for their children. One of my co-workers has already started looking for a boat for when he gets his refund. I'm here, hoping I can pay my electric bill after the Polar Vortex …

Whenever someone asks me that, I tell them, "I'd rather be alone and happy than married and miserable." I've never felt lonely while out of a relationship. I've felt lonely in relationships, though. There's no feeling worse than that.
