now she doesn’t but women change

And after all that you are in a new relationship? Jesus if that happened to me I would be staying far far far away from women except for the occasional one night stand with only first names exchanged.

Made the decision that it was “cheaper to keep her” and I will find a hobby. The legal fee’s will likely far exceed the cost of Ozempic and there is a chance with the weight loss she will be more engaged in the marriage. The disruption to kids and grandkids will be significant and my daughters will likely side with her. So, in a divorce, I would likely end up far more financially hurt than the cost of Ozempic and I would likely lose my family. Take it a day at a time for now and find a hobby.

12K forever otherwise the weight comes right back on. I suppose treat it like alimony. Pay her the $1K a month for Ozempic and find a hobby?

Agree that she should get a job but that isn’t happening. She will find every excuse under the sun not to go to work. The alimony is a concern but there are probably enough assets to give her a lopsided lump sum settlement to walk away with no alimony. I think this situation is another example of the perils of social media. Social media convinces people they are owed things like $1000 a month weight loss drugs so it becomes a hill some people are willing to die on. My impression of her thinking …

This is my concern. Am I the patsy that is footing the bill for the next guy to get the remodeled version of my wife.

Amazing isn’t it? I guess these weight loss drugs are taking the world by storm but I wonder what the downside will be to relationships?

To add my $0.02 worth on women, marriage, sex and all that. We men need to join the gig economy and find independent contractors to which we can outsource everything a woman can provide. Outsourcing! It’s the future!

If you are not on retainer, just don’t pay the next invoice for services. I had an attorney that was impossible to get a response from. Ignored the next billing and bam, got a call back.

This right here. You are singing the song of my people.

The overweight thing is spot on. We are both in our late 50’s. My wife is 5’8 255, very obese (bmi 39) and diligently working attaining the morbidly obese goal. Yet I am 5’ 9” 180 and at the high end of normal weight and she tells me I am “pudgy”. If I so much as mention that she might want to consider exercise or some form of portion control, she blows a gasket as “fat shaming”. Gee, double standard much?

I get the sense that you are just looking to internet strangers for permission to cheat.

I grew up in LDS country (St Georges, UT). It is amazing how many young LDS men return from their mission work, meet the first girl (or the family picks one out of the herd) and marries so they can get laid. Then they wake up a few years later, a couple kids on the ground, and realize just how fucked they are. The LDS church does horrible disservice with the antiquated courtship rules and early marriages. To your question, the kids will survive but I think they will be better off if you stick ar…

This is spot on imho. You don’t need to set up a situation where your wife is judge, jury and executioner on your progress. “Gee, today you get a gold star for your behavior” nope, no way I would allow a spouse to treat me like a first grader trying to please the teacher. Live your life on your terms and if she decides to stay, then it is on your terms not hers.

Before I would give up more property than what the law requires, I would at least talk to an attorney for an hour and see what the roadmap looks like. In any event, my thought is that you could simply start living for yourself and let the chips fall where they happen to fall. If you are reconciled to a reduced net worth and alimony, how much worse can it get. And for god sakes, don’t even look at another woman unless it is a FWB or other transactional situation. At this point in life, when you h…

Yep I would stop the cheating right now, that’s playing with fire. If she finds out and goes nuclear, that low 6 figure retirement accounts gets wiped out especially if you get to pay her legal fees. I’m in the same situation you are but a bit younger. I don’t cheat but I do “take care of myself solo” a lot. While not perfect it relieves the tension and gets me thru. Focus on your happiness within the confines of a business deal that isn’t easy or cheap to unwind and will leave you in a worse po…

I think the sooner men realize that their wives, in a divorce situation, view them as “staff”, the better off the guy will be.

The daughters are very close to their mother. One is a SAHM and calls every 30 minutes just to check in - weird I know but it is what it is.

After I retired from my first career, I have been investing in and helping to build work force housing in Austin and Phoenix. That has kept me busy and engaged. Otherwise, I restore vintage cars as a hobby. I would want to keep her as a friend but I am not sure that would be a mutual feeling on her part. She has a “burn the village” attitude when she feels she has been wronged. I am not interested in dating, at least right now. My thinking is being alone and not part of any relationship is bette…
