I didn't even mention care, purely the investment towards a birth happening "in a vacuum" and not necessarily for humans. There's lots of interesting evolutionary aspects related to improving "fitness" in different ways. For example some communal animals will warn other members of their species when a predator is approaching - with more warnings the closer the other is related.

It does apply to reproductive effort though - the woman's time and energy investment and risk to produce offspring is many orders of magnitude higher than a man's. As such, a man sleeping around is multiplying his potential chances for successful offspring significantly, while a woman is diluting the chances for the "best". Universities there have been made to adopt a preponderance of evidence as standard for their hearings (as opposed to proof beyond a reasonable doubt) and their "yes means yes" rules mean guilty until proven innocent. As for how it's relevant: It's clear that this is what they're aiming for in actual law too
