Let's be clear, these women aren't man-haters. They're (seemingly) middle-age women who have most-likely lived within a system of semi-traditional gender roles for their whole lives. They're not hateful, they just don't understand that seemingly harmless roles like paying for dinner are part of a much larger tapestry of ways in which traditional gender roles significantly harm men. Ignorance isn't hate unless it's willful in the face of challenge and most of these women have never seen a feminis…

Huh. I never thought of physical abuse as a dating/romantic situation. Just goes to show how some people have drastically different interpretations of Reddit comments. ;D

To be honest, I have seen a lot of pretty stupid angry stuff said on here. Not that I don't feel that way myself. But when we put it in a place for all to see forever it's easy for others to find the evidence they need to come to pretty much any conclusion that they want to. It's not like they're reading into the issue or informing themselves. They're just looking at our comments and the titles of posts. So it's no wonder that as long as people make aggressive, punitive, or otherwise unpleasant …

This is like saying that although black people have it worse they aren't the subject of systemic racism because what they're experiencing is actually 'toxic blackness' and that it's a side effect of racism against white people where they're seen as 'weak' and need lesser punishment. If you can't recognize that everyone suffers equally (but differently) under classic gender roles then you're not even ready for a conversation about gender equality. These intellectual amateurs need some education i…

No such thing as irrefutable proof the social sciences man. Those percentage differences were small. We don't know how big their sample size was, where the studied population was located, what kinds of hiring positions this data set covers, etc, etc. this could be saying something totally different depending on a lot of information. The lesson to take away from this is that women aren't as disadvantaged as the common narrative portrays them, not that men are better than women.

That's because dystopias are basically just negative ideological funhouse mirrors. They inherently take their structure from things that already exist/existed in the real world. There are a million tiny dystopias all around us depending on your perspective.

Care to elaborate on your claim that this sub is insecure? I'd like to know the line of reasoning that brought you to this conclusion. Also, if you have any examples of this 'delusion' in action (either with regard to posts or comments) would you care to show us some examples so that we can correct them?

I would really like to know more about these monogamous/polygamous indicators. Care to back up that idea with an article/book name & chapter/ELI5?

Thank you! Seriously it's great to see the actual sources for this stuff. Really helps clear out the emotional and reactionary aspects of the debate.

Care to back that up? It'd be nice to have some real numbers/studies to point to.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
