| 10 | People refuse to see that transphobia is rooted in misandryI agree on the volume and severity of the impact that mindset has on women, but I wouldn't minimize the impact it can have on men either, specially young boys. It is not a competition to see who has it worse. Personally, when i was a, let's call it, aesthetically impaired teen, it cut deep when i saw a monster staring back in the mirror, i saw him often as i was very similar looking to most depictions of creepy/dangerous men. I've never done anything that would qualify me as a dangerous predator… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 14/03/22 04:29 PM |
| 16 | has it got better for us? will it only get better from now on?I don't think they stole it, i think the only side willing to listen for a while was the right. It is critical that we keep fostering healthy left wing spaces for male issues. Contrapoints has a video called "men" with a section that dives into this topic very well IMO. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 14/03/22 08:44 AM |
| 37 | People refuse to see that transphobia is rooted in misandryI think it is rooted in the "man = dangerous aggresor, woman = innocent victim" mentality, which I'd argue is both misandrist and misogynistic. If you don't acknowledge trans people when they come out as their gender you'll believe a trans-woman is a man, and therefore dangerous to let into female spaces, and a trans-man is just a harmless confused woman playing dress-up. Both of these ideas are transphobic, but one is more alarming than the other. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 14/03/22 08:10 AM |
| 19 | People refuse to see that transphobia is rooted in misandryAbsolutely. Trans women get hate from people who see then as men and therefore assume they are dangerous deranged fetishists who want to diddle you and your kids in the bathroom, and trans men get patronized because they're not seen as "real men" because they (initially) lack the physical aspects that make "real men" dangerous (I.E. upper body strenght, bone density, and the ever so dangerous penis). | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 14/03/22 08:02 AM |
