You mean vocal minority like endorsed members? They are the face of trp and many of them are crazy ( gaylubeoil and neoreactionsafe are the first ones that come to mind as the most extreme examples).

To me it was seeing how in that subreddit's comments endorsed members religiously defend the most ridicoulus things that other endorsed members say. Made me realise that it's just plain stupid to listen to people like that. When talking with that friend of yours, keep in mind that trp creates powerful "us vs them" mentality. Also keep in mind that just like in discussions about religion, logic and arguments have no power over what other person believes.

Great post. I have been visiting TRP and TBP quite regularly in attempt to separate wheat from chaff. However, it seemed that both sides are extremely radical and will never acknowledge that each other. Yeah, there is just something special about lifting that other sports don't have. If you lift, then everyone including yourself will clearly see your results wherever you go. This gives tremendous boost to confidence and self esteem. However, if you do only martial arts (or other more agility/endurace oriented sport), you may look fit, but other won't be able to tell just by looking at you.

Percieving those who are different as dangerous and being hostile to them is in our genes. It's natural to divide people into "us" and "them" and skin colour is one of the most noticable features. Then each race (or any social group) has many stereotypes, many of which are negative. There is also confrimation bias that reinforces negative perception of certain group. Thus hate is born.
