It does change things considerably. There's studies that show that people with higher bf% lose more muscle when they diet, and when they try to regain weight they'll pull something like 70/30 fat/muscle ratio when bulking back up. Body fat % plays more of a factor in how someone looks that weight, and it's important to consider that some people are genetically better at building muscle than others.

So much this. My ex wife was a petite 5'2 girl, and I would have traded all the mental abuse she gave me for physical abuse. Scars heal and broken bones heal, but feeling worthless and pathetic and unlovable lasts far longer.

No. And your assumption that women are only promoted because of gender is pretty sexist. It might be a factor if all else is equal, but to assigning it entirely to gender is fallacious.

They give preferential treatment to women because its better in the long term to have positive role models that women identify with in a field that is mostly male.
