I'm coming in a bit late, but I always have sympathy for a fellow skinny bro. Check out /r/Fitness, they'll probably recommend Starting Strength, one of the best beginner programmes. Basically You wanna focus on compound lifts like squats/bench/deadlifts and eat a lot. I've gone from a 6"9' twig to pretty muscular over the past 8 months and it has made a HUGE difference. Contrary to what seddit often promotes appearance does play a massive role, women are far more responsive now that I dress bet…

Core exercises (mostly back work though). If your thinking of getting into lifting (you should) deadlifts, squats, rows etc. will make a massive difference. There are bodyweight exercises you can do as well, planks are probably your best bet here. My posture sucked because I'm nearly 7ft and my back was weak as shit, been lifting for about 7 months and it's mostly gone now though.

One other thing that helped me a lot was realising I am not my depression/anxiety I am merely depressed/anxious and it will pass; really helped through some of my lower points.

I've been where you are mate (finally pulled myself out of it in the last month or so), and until you actually start to value yourself your not going to see much success. I know I'm an awesome motherfucker, you need to realise you are too. I know it's very hard to realise when depressed as it clouds your judgement and makes you focus on the negative aspects of your life, but you have to make an effort to pull yourself up. I'd agree with therapy; Im a psych student looking to go into councelling …

Listen to this man. It may be because I was a twig (I was 6"9', but only about 180 pounds) before but 6 months of gyming it are making a huge difference. My other piece of advice would be if your at College/Uni join the sports clubs. I joined the Rugby team about 2 months ago not real knowing anyone at Uni but my social circle has exploded. Regular socials and you meet some really cool people, and women ;).

MDMA really helped me to stop giving a fuck; I'm genuinely far more confident and open after dropping than I was before.

I disagree but that might just be because I connected with it, me and the author both sound like we're going through the same stage of development. But yeah the titles a bit misleading.

I know I'm a month late to the party, but I just wanna say thanks dude. I've managed to get stuck in this rut again and this really helps.

Aye, It's a great chance to recreate yourself. I'm loving living up here atm, went out yesterday met a bunch of cool people, got invited to a couple of parties etc. I don't feel like I could have done this back in my small town. Also appropriate username ;)

I reckon it's because it's a chance to break out and do something new, and it's a chance to recreate yourself. But yeah, go us!

I had some shit happen to me during my younger years (that I'd rather not go into) that really fucked me up. I used to be quite outgoing, but after this I developed very strong social anxiety and an array of nervous twitches. People scared me and I couldn't retreat from my shell because of this. I would try to hide myself (which is were I believe a lot of my twitches came from) but being a big guy (I'm 6"9') this wasn't exactly easy. When I was 4 or 5 the parents got me a Sega Genesis (Megadrive…

Massive respect mate, I've been wanting to get into parkour for ages and this has helped me make up my mind. I'm a reasonably fit guy and keep telling myself it's to hard or make other excuses, your example shows that it all boils down will power.

I agree, especially after seeing some of the vitriol from the FA xpost. Kudos for being so cool-headed in you point as well. The issue I can see though is that (given the size of this sub) people will continue to reach out altruistically and outside of Mod intervention (which none of us want) there is no real way to limit it.

Just try it mate. Seriously, what do you stand to lose? I've honestly found (as most of us on Seddit would agree) that it makes a major difference; and it's one of the easier changes to make.
