I went by myself all the damn time when I lived abroad. Guys I would usually travel with just wanted to go to bars and strip clubs. Can’t share too many details, but basically retaliation went down. Had to send a notice of non-compliance, have never met this person otherwise. She, rather than just fix it, decided instead to complain my boss I had no idea what I was talking about and only wanted to give her shit for being a woman. Won that battle. One of many. Lost the war in the end. Dropped a few bombs on my way out that got a lot of people in deep shit. Life got better, but I changed. A part of you really does die.

What you're saying is also very true. The statute of limitations on this kind of thing back home is 2 years, so I still have plenty of time if I want to pursue it. Several people have tried to hook me up to lawyers, including a former boss who knows what happened. That year took a huge emotional toll on me and completely upended my life, but now that things are a bit more certain and given what you've said I may reach out to some of the lawyers who were interested.
