Hookups suck. Fwb is where it’s at.

Hi! Conventionally attractive gay dude here. I just left a relationship where I “dated down,” and it was a truly awful experience. Constant clinginess, putting me on a pedestal, and anxiety that led to controlling behavior. Never again. I don’t want to be in a situation again where someone things they are dating out of their league. It comes with a lot of personal hang ups. Personally, I like being fit for myself and don’t mind how my partner looks, but I never imagined how annoying it could be.

The last two zeros are pretty cringe tbh.

See guy at gym. Guy sees me. We nod. Get a bj in the shower. Results may vary with women.

I am gay and it’s freaky how many drunk women violate the man’s consent and continue harassing them. Lady, leave me alone.

Gay guy here. It is not gay to have a strong or healthy emotional bond with your male friends. My closest friend comes over each night to share a snack and talk to me about his day. We are both foreigners living in another country, so it feels good to have someone to lean on for support and help navigate this confusing world.

Damn. You made me realize I’m in the second dynamic with my partner. It’s really tough when I try to bring him up and he does anything he can to find fault with himself. It’s exhausting and I feel like we haven’t made any progress on that front for six months. He values me and his relationship with me, but he doesn’t value himself and actively puts himself down. I’m finding it harder and harder to be with him but can’t find a justification to leave.

As a gay man, I can attest to this. They are fascinated with us. They ask intrusive questions, touch us without consent, flirt with us, and invade spaces that are made primarily for gay men.

It’s as attractive to me as good hygiene - me, a gay man

I’ve met plenty. Plus I have one. Society thinks things for a reason. I wouldn’t trust a teenager to drive responsibly, why would I trust one with something even more valuable - a kid?

Teenage mothers don’t have a good reputation for a reason. You need to be able to take care of yourself before you start taking care of a child.

I dated girls in college because I’ve always heard “you never gave women a chance,” and it’s pretty interesting to compare them. First of all, that was a terrible idea because it led to two unhappy people each time. Second, it taught me a lot about what crap straight guys put up with. Shit tests all the time, expected to pay for everything, and had to treat them like a princess. There are guys out there with this as a preference, but that’s just what it is - a preference rather than an expectati…

That’s awesome. But they aren’t dogs. Cats take time and subtly. From what I can tell, you need to kind of ignore the cat while making them feel safe and attached to you. You can’t go outside and pick up a random cat. Is that an accurate analysis?

I like a well-rounded perspective. Plus, I have to deal with girls simping for me. It happens a lot surprisingly. I guess it’s like interacting with cats. Cats don’t come to those who call it, but rather find comfort in the person ignoring it due to allergies or disinterest.

Gay guy here who thinks TRP is neat. We do this while dating. Younger gays tend to define roles sooner in the relationship than older gay males. It is interesting because it sets sexual and social roles, which betters compatibility. Tops often ignore their bottom’s penis, while the bottom is expected to provide frequent oral sex. In this way, their needs are fundamentally different, and the act of sex more cerebral.

They are flakey when it comes to commitment. Gay men are all in on fighting for their openness. Many bi men sleep with men but have open relationships with women. Hoping this trend changes with the openness of society. Bi men and women can cash in on the sexual benefits while avoiding any of the risks.

As a gay guy, I wouldn’t want to date a fat or unemployed man, but I realize that it’s easier to get a job than to dedicate oneself to slimming down. There is also temporary unemployment, not temporary fatness. Being fat or unemployed for a long period of time is a huge red flag and tells me that the guy won’t take initiative on things in life. So far I’ve been pretty correct on that in my experience.

+1. She felt safe rejecting you directly, not making up an excuse out of fear for her safety.

After reading the other replies, I’m worried he might pull the infamous “see, I told you it will be fine” if things work out.

Ah, I see. No judgement here. Sounds like a high-risk, low-reward situation. I agree with you 100%. Some government positions do not. Even if they do, low amounts of marijuana pass through the body quickly if not taken frequently. I think he may still have a shot.

As a gay man, I’ve been thinking about this one a lot. It’s strange that I can imagine myself in any variation. There is no automatic assumption in my case since I don’t fall in any category perfectly - traditionally fem or masculine. I am educated and I can see myself as a stay at home father and teach online or at a local college, or do research. I can also see myself becoming a high income earner in the future as well. Guess I should start learning to cook just in case!

Same here, even within a gay relationship. Been trying to figure that one out for a while. This was a while ago and things seemed to even out over the course of a few years as I found my own personal happiness before getting into relationships again. The same dynamic happens within gay relationships.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
