It is not just reddit or just the Internet. People have a knee-jerk idea that men aren't good enough, while women are wonderful. It is part of male disposability.

The quote is not literally true. Eg, your parents can love you, other than for what you provide. However, the quote gets at an important truth about male disposability.

So true. In fiction, bad women almost always have a back story where a man made them bad. But men are just depicted as bad.

Under North Carolina law, he would have to pay, but under Virginia law he doesn't. This case was about which state's law governed the situation, with people moving between states. So this case is hardly a win.

Don't give up. Coding is hard and people who aren't suited for it will drop out, no matter how much encouragement they get. If you stick it out and get good, coding is a field where competence speaks for itself. Keep moving forward, even though the environment is hostile.

No, it is not the "message they are trying to promote." It is the truth of people's hearts, that they are trying to conceal. But I agree that we should not allow ourselves to be silenced.

Serious question. I have known women who, in a professional context like your own, are able to recognize the male disposability, and its consequences, that you are seeing. But then, when they aren't wearing their professional hat, they react with disgust to men bringing up these same issues--despite the fact that these women nominally "agree" with what the men are saying. I've found this shocking, but have seen it enough that I am convinced of the pattern. Tbh, this has significantly altered the…

Here is what young men need to know. Expect your 20s to suck because young men are low-value in our society. The 20s are a time when you should work and grind, and set yourself up for an awesome 30s and beyond. If young men weren't so distracted from thinking how to get women, mankind would have reached the stars by now (figuratively).

What did he say? I've only read the Wall Street Journal article, but they have VERY thin examples. This is not just a "school" problem. It is a culture problem. The school is showing you just one tiny piece of it. Yes, it is schools, but it is also court systems, news media, movie studios, universities, major companies, etc. The world isn't always what we wish it to be. The path forward is to let yourself grieve this revelation, and move forward in a way that this bad fact doesn't sour you to the many awesome things available to you in the world. I didn't say they "hate" men. I said they "don't care about them," and that is the truth. You ask what does this "say about our fellow men"? The primary answer to this is that it is like asking "what does it say that the sun rises in the East"? It is simply a fact, and we shouldn't attach undue implications to it. The secondary answer is that men reserve their caring for women (which awfully nice of us), though women do not return the favor.

I'm all for positive energy, but you need to recognize that our society treats criticizing women as taboo, and one of our missions needs to be to break down this taboo so that we can talk about both men and women as human beings. The process of casting off the taboo is going to involve some salty talk. Get use to it, and remember the level of imbalance we are dealing with: men get slandered by professor, politicians, and major corporations; here we have anonymous people on the internet working o…

Part of gynocentrism is a taboo on criticizing women, which I would say you are still suffering from. An important part of men's rights is helping men understand that they have the right to judge women--as women have never hesitated to judge us. Please take your tone policing elsewhere.

The son preference in China is a classic piece of feminist misinformation. Supposedly, the preference shows how girls are discriminated against. In reality, in Chinese culture, it is the responsibility of the eldest son to care for the parents (who don't have safety-net programs like Social Security). So, of course, parents want sons, because sons will provide for them.

Try not to feel too stressed. The modern world is incredible, and has an unimaginable amount to offer you. Also, it views men as disposable. You are lucky to be learning to understand the world at an early age. There is a fine line to walk between understanding the bad parts of life, and becoming overly fixated on them. My advice is to brace yourself for your 20s to be kind of lame. Keep focused and work hard, and your 30s onward will probably be pretty great.

They way the article spins this is illuminating of how deep the bias goes. Overall, participants perceived human women [actually, computers programmed with female voices] as having more positive human qualities than human men for nearly all variables in the study. I think the same is true for many men. Many men don't really care about issues women have. I don't mean to be rude, but it is daft to suggest that there is anything like symmetry in this topic. Have you looked around? Look at all the program for women's issues that men have promoted, supported, helped to build, and tolerated even when they turn hateful. This is a good example of why men are increasingly finding women to not be suitable partners.

Do you think that bad experiences with women means all women are bad? "Are bad" is too vague a notion. I have seen enough to know that the prevailing attitude among women is that they will not even try to listen or understand that men have issues. Correct.

Isn't there a movement in Britain advocating that women should never be sent to jail, no matter what they do? Ah yes, here from the Washington Post saying it is a great idea, "We should stop putting women in jail. For anything."[1] Written by a feminist professor. [1] https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2014/11/06/we-should-stop-putting-women-in-jail-for-anything/

I think it was marketed as non-scalpel, but it was still pretty intense. I don't care what they call it, they are cutting into your scrotum.

The only places where men can talk are manosphere spaces. I recommend regardingmen.com.

Yes, we need more male-only spaces.

To the other commenters point out that, yes, sometimes money does flow from the woman to the man, I think these cases are different in 3 ways: It is a lot less common. The man is usually somehow, working on "getting on his feet," i.e., this is a temporary condition that he is trying to take some step out of; it is not his life plan, and The man doesn't have the kind of entitlement (casualness about money) a "kept woman" tends to have.
/r/MensRights20/03/21 12:06 PM
3

As Warren Farrell says (approx.), "Women complain that men are jerks, and they they won't commit." If we're jerks, why do women want to commit?
/r/MensRights19/03/21 10:01 PM
4

Exactly. Waking up to this means men need to downshift the role that we hope for women to play in our lives.
/r/MensRights19/03/21 02:58 PM
1

Women use relational aggression: false allegations, ostracizing. They have ever since JR High, but now our culture is dominated by it. Men are scared because we have let women too fully into our hearts, and we fear their rejection.
/r/MensRights19/03/21 02:44 PM
46

It is a tough pill to swallow, but pay careful attention to what they are saying, because you are learning about women, in general. When I first started getting into men's rights, I thought, "It must just be a few feminists who think this way, not all women." Then I started talking this stuff to the women in my life. Real eye opener.
/r/MensRights19/03/21 12:17 PM
2

Honestly, it is hard sometimes. The culture pours out such a constant stream of shit against men. It is baffling and disheartening.
/r/MensRights19/03/21 12:15 PM

Men learn not to express their emotions, because the world attacks them when they do.
/r/MensRights18/03/21 06:03 PM

They won't stop. You can't change them. You can only change yourself, by tuning them out.
/r/MensRights18/03/21 03:37 PM
49

> Do men’s lives not matter as much? Correct. That is what they are demonstrating about their values. Believe them.
/r/MensRights18/03/21 03:33 PM
16

"Why are you generalizing, man?" I used to think along these lines, as well, and I remain very reluctant to generalize. But it reaches the point where the evidence is overwhelming. What I have described is what men should expect women to be like.
/r/MensRights18/03/21 02:24 PM
3

They do not care about men. They worry that, if caring about men is allowed, it might catch on.
/r/MensRights18/03/21 01:05 PM
56

Women resent men. I think the core of it is that 90% of men are invisible to women; they only see the 10% at the top. So naturally, they think, "Why are men doing so well? Every man I can think of is at the top." This leads to resentment, lack of empathy, and dehumanization towards men.
/r/MensRights18/03/21 01:02 PM
2

That kind of case is very rare.
/r/MensRights17/03/21 02:04 PM

/r/MensRights16/03/21 07:29 PM

I doubt that they will squirm. They have, no doubt, been using the "all men" BS as a cudgel to beat the unlucky men in their lives for years.
/r/MensRights16/03/21 04:13 PM

Yep.
/r/MensRights16/03/21 04:11 PM

In society's eyes, men are unclean, while women are clean. So a man touching a woman is very bad--you desecrate them. But a woman touching a man is harmless. At worst, she is at risk of your cooties getting on her. Nobody cares about you or your feelings, you piece of human sludge. (At least, that's how the world sees it.)
/r/MensRights16/03/21 04:09 PM
3

They see things this way because they only think about the men at the top. Every man they can think of is a movie star, so obviously men are privileged.
/r/MensRights15/03/21 08:10 PM
19

They are being clear. Their bias is against ALL MEN. They can't spell it out any further.
/r/MensRights12/03/21 06:10 PM
0

Yes and no. You are right that people who try to tell the world about men's issues are in for a smackdown, and we should help them contextualize it, for the benefit of their mental health. But it is also part of the learning process. It is better to know the truth that people don't care about men, even if it is a painful pill to swallow. It is also a good thing to keep our objections visible to people who don't feel that men deserve empathy.
/r/MensRights10/03/21 03:27 PM
4

Not really. "The wall" is a dramatic fall-off in attractiveness. Because women are cruel in how they assess men (only finding the top 10% attractive), most men never have a time in their lives when they are attractive, so they cannot have a dramatic fall-off.

I didn't reply to because what would be the use of arguing against a feminist? Smart man. It sounds like you used this interaction in just the right way: to learn about female nature, without wasting time on an argument that would be, in the words of Jesus, "casting pearls before swine."

/r/MensRights03/03/21 05:26 PM

I wouldn't be too judgmental. Paul Elam has a great observation (which I will summarize) about these venues. The men seeking out these forums right now are disgruntled. They may have pain from being abused by the system (e.g., life-ruining divorces), or they may just chafe under the taboos that men can't talk about what's best for them, but should put women first. When men arrive in these forums, there is often some anger that they want to vent. You need to let them vent it first, and then you w…

You should checkout regardingmen.com. It is an online MRA men's community. Generally speaking, you are right to note that there really aren't men's communities out there. This is because our society stigmatizes them.

Run. You seriously need to get out of there. No matter what she does, she will always be the one society cares about. If she calls the police, they will take her side, and you will be labeled forever as a domestic abuser, who the world views as garbage. But you can still avoid that fate, if you run now.
/r/MensRights01/03/21 03:43 PM

Human psychology is really interesting. There seem to be lots of men willing to accept a second-class role like this, which, in a way, is adaptive, because society is moving towards a AF/BB dichotomy. I wonder how this will change as guys start to have a more realistic view of what a threat women pose to our wellbeing.

Feminist accounting: when me do better, it is privilege; when women do better it is superiority.

Women's attitudes towards this flip back and forth. One day she may feel like it was fine; the next day like it was a huge violation; and the day after that maybe it's fine again. Of course, if she ever says the bad feeling out loud, society will toss the man in the garbage. Be careful out there.
/r/MensRights25/02/21 06:33 PM

To them, it looks like a patriarchy, because the only men they are aware of are the men at the top. They see all men as privileged, because they filter out all the men who aren't.

They do it because of gynocentrism. Women matter more than men to people.

I don't want to come off as condescending, but this reminds me of how I felt for the first few years I tuned in to men's issues. I started talking to people in m life about the topic, and I was pretty horrified by the women in my circle. I found that, once you start probing the topic a bit, they were almost all ready to shit on men, over imagined stuff like the wage gap. It was just so clear that they only thought about the men at the top. That left me in a painful cognitive dissonance, until I …

I see it differently. Our society could benefit tremendously from a growing culture of male bonding and kindness towards each other. This activity is currently stigmatized and taboo (which is totally crazy, if you think about it). Not every many needs to participate, but a visible sub-culture emphasizing this can have a big effect. One frustrating thing (and I can't tell if you are experiencing an element of this), is that lots of men are so deep into gynocentrism that they balk at the idea of m…

It is not a MGTOW pipe dream, though contemporary Western culture makes it feel that way. For example, I have heard Middle-Eastern men express that men should look to women for physical closeness, but *to men for emotional closeness*. It really does work. This is not a MGTOW idea, but is something Western men are blinded to by the propaganda that tells us women should be our "everything."
/r/MensRights18/02/21 05:15 PM

We can't accomplish much politically, because we are a legit marginalized group. Any political cause *runs away* from our support because we are lepers. The MRM's accomplishments are in men's individual lives. Waking men up to the fact that women are not the "solution" to life's problem, and, in fact, pose significant dangers to us.

How dare you disagree with a woman! Don't you know your place?
/r/MensRights18/02/21 03:57 PM

Imagine if men became as kind and caring towards each other as we have traditionally been towards women. Female hypergamy makes this difficult because it makes men fight each other to be one of the few who gets female validation. Thus, it is necessary for men to deprioritize women in order to start being kind to each other. Male culture is broken, right now, and it can only be fixed from the inside. That involves turning away from women, and turning toward each other.

It sounds like you have a theory: that women are not, by their nature, as ugly as feminism is driving many of them to act. Maybe you are correct--or maybe you have a false assumption based on the "women are wonderful" effect, and the truth is that women shitting on men is just their nature. I am not saying one or the other is right, but just emphasizing that we should follow the evidence wherever it leads. I agree that male feminists cannot change feminism, but, more broadly, I think it is misgu…

I think the notion wishing for women to care or empathize is misguided. That isn't up to us. Maybe women shit on men because it is their immutable nature; maybe it is their culture. In either case, it is out of men's control. We should be focused on being better to each other, as men, and deprioritizing women in our lives.

Preaching to the choir needs to be good enough, for now. Reaching people who are not receptive to our message is impossible in the short- or medium-term. Most people do not care about men, and we cannot make them care. But there is a still a lot of good to be done by developing a community among the people who do.

I'm not bashing your sister, but it would be EXCEEDINGLY RARE for a woman to be able to process and understand the risks and hardships that men face. It isn't limited to "feminists," in my experience.

It is just a mean, nasty thing to say, and it reveals more about the people who say it than anything. The reply is, "Stop your cuntplaining." (Honestly, I would never actually say that, but it is fun to imagine.)

I'm sorry, what special protective measures are being offered to women? Umm, the whole point of the conversation is that men are significantly more at risk than women (about 30%), so special measures to protect men, and not women, are what would be appropriate here. Fyi, your characterization of this whole topic as "men whine about being men" is a perfect example of my initial point that people don't care about men. Here you are, using shaming language on the very idea that men could have issues…
/r/MensRights09/02/21 05:50 PM
2

Great, send me the articles you find about special protective measures being offered to men, on account of their greater vulnerability. And where women are being shamed for receiving the vaccine ahead of men--as we all know men would be shamed if the situation were reversed. I am not surprised that you are uninterested in reading a book that would challenge your preconceptions.

It does make me wonder if Freud was on to something with women having penis envy.
/r/MensRights08/02/21 08:54 PM

I live on Earth, where do you live? If the virus were 30% more dangerous for women, we would hear calls for women to get the vaccine first, and men would be shamed for trying to get it. Have we heard that? Nope, because it is men who are dying, and people don't care about that. I recommend to you William Collins' book, "The Empathy Gap." The evidence of a lack of concern for men is overwhelming.
/r/MensRights08/02/21 08:15 PM

People don't care about men. Men have gotten it worse from the virus and are 30% more likely to die from it. But, of course, women are all that matter.
