I have an iPhone right now because I like the stability of iOS (I’ve had a lot of problems with that on my android phones in the past), but the one I bought was an older model and used. The sky is the limit with the pi. You can use it as an HTPC, set up a portable emulation system like I explained, set up a giant arcade cabinet, or even use it as a network wide adblocker with PiHole. Plenty of nifty things out there for the pi.

Even then it’s like “hmm I could buy this ridiculously expensive phone and play shitty mobile games, or I could buy something worthwhile like a Nintendo Switch and have some of the best AAA games on the go”. Or even cooler yet: buy a raspberry pi, buy or 3D print a mobile case, and a battery and build your own portable emulation machine. I have always thought those were incredibly cool, and I’ll probably make one someday.

I bought a used iPhone 8 a couple months ago to upgrade from my Galaxy S4 that was literally falling apart. Cheaper than all the newer iPhones and does everything I need it to.
