You got that backwards; for most mammals, birds and even reptiles, it's the male who courts the female. The female may or may not be aware that she's ovulating; her body generally releases a chemical signal that the male responds to by courting the female, usually with a display of fitness. This is why in sexually dimorphic species, the males are the ones with bright colors, horns, manes, antlers, etc. There are a few exceptions (I think some eagles have a different system in which both the male…

And thus we finally reach the crux of the issue: it doesn't matter as long as you like the guy, and your goals align. I hope things go well with you and your guy.

Those tactics probably aren't meant for you. Like I said, calibration is a thing. If you meet a decent PUA who knows what he's doing, he should be using tactics that would work on attracting you, and those tactics likely aren't the same as if he were trying to attract the model at the bar, or the girl next door. Some of those things will be the same (holding frame, amused mastery, etc.) but you don't wanna neg the 7 because she already knows she's a 7.

Give me an example of manipulative behavior. What constitutes the difference between not compromising your standards, and manipulating someone? I'm pretty sure the imaginary construct of a mustache-twirling manipulative RP guy is a figment of your imagination. Sure, some guys will play mind games with you, but you don't need to be RP to do that. Abusive people are a fact of life, get over it. I also find it amusing that you can dismiss RP tactics as manipulative bullshit, yet for your guy you fr…

It's harder to be manipulated if you have standards for yourself, and you refuse to compromise on those standards. If a woman wants to strong arm me into a marriage because it's part of her checklist of things to do before 30, if I don't believe in marriage it's going to be much harder for her to convince me to go along for the ride, no matter how long we've been together. Similarly, if you're the type of chick who doesn't do hookups because she wants to know the guy first, it's going to be much…

Who isn't being honest with you? You seem to have a pathological fear that you'll somehow unwittingly fall for a dark triad, manipulative RP guy despite your insistence that RP and PUA tactics in general don't work, and more specifically, wouldn't work on you (and yet they already have). So which is it? Do the tactics work or not? Because if they don't, you have nothing to worry about, and if they do, then a discussion of why they do is probably a pretty important discussion to have. In any case…

Judging from some of your other posts you have no idea what a neg is. Negs are only really useful for 10s, or women who perceive themselves to be 10s, and I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that isn't you. I'm guessing you're the sweet girl type, probably a genuinely nice person, but you get anxious or depressed easily. Being the nice guy is more effective in that case. If you're interested in this sort of thing, read up on calibration. The question you should be asking yourself is, if the …

Nice shaming tactic there, but you never actually addressed the substance of his claim because you couldn't. It's pretty well established by online dating that men have to send out up to 7 times as many messages as a woman to get an equivalent response rate (I can't be fucked looking up the source, it's late and I have work in the morning). Fact is, if you wanted quick and easy sex, a craigslist ad would almost certainly get you laid. Now think about this from the perspective of a guy, many of w…

Don't be ridiculous. Most people couldn't give a shit about the stuff that gets discussed on here; this is a side hobby for those genuinely interested in the subject, those with too much time on their hands, and pathetic perma-victims who need a cause to feel like their existence isn't a waste of oxygen (it is). A change in marriage customs won't stop people from falling in love and being together, because that's what we do. We're hardwired for it. It won't matter if guys are a bit more wary abo…

An interesting article on this subject. Original study here. My own opinion on this matter is: Women have a very wide range of factors and traits that arouse them, whether consciously or subconsciously. What they desire probably changes with their hormonal cycle, at the very least more often than men's desires change. Unwillingness to openly state things they find attractive, either for identity/ego reasons (may reflect poorly on her), or because they are seemingly obvious to her. I trust men mo…

Studies aren't necessarily meant to account for all individuals in a population, so I'm not sure where you got that idea. They establish broad traits within a population, which means you're dealing with probabilities, not absolutes. This is also the reason why the generalization argument is a poor one; generalizations are how we study and categorize large populations, and isn't generally a flaw (it is if your generalization is extended beyond its scope).

That story was based in Australia, which certainly has a violence problem in many of its major cities. It's often dismissed (particularly by the ill-educated bogan crowd) as "boys will be boys", which, imo, is a failure of parenting. When it comes to fighting, I think it's important to recognize that being willing to stand up for yourself and fight is an important trait for men to have (and most women don't really understand of this because it's so far removed from their own experience of the wo…

They're two totally different matters. I'm skeptical because of what she has written there, and how she's gone about pursuing justice (surely a police investigation would be a better way to resolve a criminal offense?). I have no issue with the mocking because there's a clear breakdown in logic when you read her sign. But you're seriously unable to separate the two in your mind, huh? Must make abstract tasks difficult.

Yeah, don't try to co-opt my point. I specifically wrote that there wasn't enough information to determine entirely what happened; based on the fact that she tried to make him responsible for her state of inebriation, I'm gonna stay skeptical. You've just used the same point to justify automatically believing her based on... what exactly? Your feelings? And you never say no when another person buys you beer? I don't doubt that she enjoys sex, the same way I don't doubt a fat kid enjoys eating. It doesn't justify a lack of restraint. The higher the number, the more likely it is that she's impulsive, and correct me if I'm wrong here, but this conversation is specifically about women with a higher number of partners. Where that line is drawn depends on the guy, because everyone has their own definition of what they consider to be risky and impulsive behavior. As for a woman who is interested in finding…

No, the sexes aren't the same. Any guy can go to the gym and be benching his bodyweight in a matter of months. I've never met a woman anywhere near as physically capable as even an average guy. Even for the same size and weight, men are just pound for pound harder, denser and stronger. Ask the opponents of that MTF kickboxer they let in the ring with female opponents last year, the girls commented they'd never been hit that hard in their life, and that's after hormone therapy. Even if we assume …

The fact that she blames her drunken state on him calls the rest of the story into question. It implies that she doesn't take responsibility for her own actions, and makes her an unreliable source of information.

I agree. There is plenty of useful advice on TRP for those who need it, but it also tends to attract a lot of loons. I agree that there are some pretty fundamental differences between men and women, and I've personally experienced a lot of what gets talked about on there, so it's good to know that I'm not the only one. There's also plenty of good motivational advice, advice on lifting, and messages of self improvement that are all too often lacking for young men nowadays (certainly when I came u…

So, you're telling me that your world view is such that people need to be exactly the same to have the same rights and freedoms as everyone else? Whether or not the sexes are biologically different has no bearing on whether or not they should have equal rights.

From that picture: "You taught him that it wasn't his fault I drank too much This is the problem. It wasn't his fault that she got too drunk. Is he her keeper? That's a more sexist position than assuming that women should be responsible for their own well-being (like every other adult on the planet). Alcohol is not an excuse for neglecting personal responsibility, in the same way that ignorance of the law is not an excuse for breaking it. She got drunk and lost control, and it's difficult to kno…

Not the person you asked, but you're making the mistake of assuming the acts are both equivalent. If I meet a girl who's slept with a lot of guys, it tells me she's probably impulsive and lacks restraint, because she had options and couldn't say no. In fact, promiscuity is linked with a whole slew of negative personality traits (for both sexes). If I meet a guy who's slept with a similarly large number of women, it tells me that either his standards are very low, or he's got something that women…

Actually, it's a valid observation. You're implying that women are somehow too gullible to see through tricks and manipulation to avoid having sex with (apparent) conmen. The obvious conclusion is that they're too stupid to tell the difference, and can't be trusted to make their own decisions re: mating.

I'm not gonna crap on anyone for believing in something and trying. I have my doubts as to their chances of success, because I think they confuse the way the world should be for what it is. That said, I have a soft spot for idealists, so who knows? Maybe they'll stumble onto something everyone else has missed, and inadvertently succeed. The guy in the post yesterday went to therapy and found it unhelpful. He did try talking about it, for more than a year. He withdrew from the relationship after talking proved to be ineffective (you cannot negotiate desire). I fail to see why this is such a controversial thing? Frankly, talking is so basic that I'm staggered that it's the go to advice for you bleeding hearts. I'm amazed that expecting a woman to want to fuck her spouse is such a burden to you. We don't live in a society with arranged marriages; she chose this guy, and -- knowing full well that sex was something that was important to him in the relationship -- she stopped upholding her end of the bargain. Her feelings shouldn't override the relationship, because the whole of point of a relationship is that there are two people. That implies an exchange of some sort, and if she's openly ignoring his ne…

My experience is the complete opposite of this. From what I've observed, the girls in these communities are peerless get-arounds who eventually have sex with most of the guys there. In fact, I would extend this to almost any male dominated activity, with the possible exception of boxing. I bboyed for a long time, and the girls in that community were always trouble. Same holds true for skateboarding and surfing. My own opinion is that the women in these communities generally don't like competing …

Intelligence is one of the best predictors of virginity in teens and young adults, and from memory, the effect is about one third greater for males. It doesn't surprise me at all to learn that bright women are more likely to end up single. I don't believe it has anything to do with male or female preferences, because individual factors are the more likely culprit. I.e. Smarter people see attraction in terms that aren't indicative of reality.

In what way is it not the same thing? It's already well established that markets don't need money to function, and academic papers analysing sexual interaction as a marketplace have existed for a while now. This isn't a new concept, and it's a valid way of analysing sexual relations between genders. Understand that mathematical models break down at the individual level because they rely on probabilities and assumptions, but that doesn't make them any less useful as tools. Newtonian physics break…

It seems I was mistaken regarding societies using barter. Bartering seems to fill the gap when currency systems break down. It has a fairly robust precedent in both prisons (where no currency is permitted), among soldiers during war time, in the US during the great depression (maybe during Weimar Germany as well, but I didn't check), and it was the original form of trade among groups like the Phoenicians. You can absolutely have markets based on barter, and unless I'm mistaken, the sexual market…

You don't need money to have an economy, barter markets existed for millenia before currency was ever a thing. Your contention that the exchange of sex for resources isn't sustainable is flat out wrong. It's the single most consistently sustainable industry in human history, and has existed pretty much universally since humans have been around. In fact, it goes back much farther than that, and has been observed in birds, and many other mammalian species. There was an experiment where a group of …

No, I'm saying that how people dress is a form of social signalling that reflects who they are. Learn to read the signals and go for what you're interested in. Why do you need to take a simple concept and distort it? Are you incapable of understanding what I wrote on its own merits?

I disagree. The most homogeneous societies exist in Africa, and it's the most violent continent on earth. Furthermore, racism is being eliminated in the west. US polls have revealed that younger generations are significantly less racist than older generations. I agree that socioeconomic causes and not multiculturalism are the main causes of violence. I come from a very multicultural family, so I know from experience that it can work. My point was that what you said didn't actually support your c…

No, because those are the norm in most cultures. I would say that dressing more conservatively than the norm is likely indicative of those things, especially if the person isn't religious (because for ceremonial reasons, religion can cause a person to dress more conservative than they actually are). For example, women who never show any skin, don't show cleavage, etc, especially in countries where those are fairly common things (i.e. most western countries). Fashion is social signaling. On my phone, so I'll keep this brief. On its own, promiscuity is a red flag because it indicates a lack of impulse control, and a propensity for reckless behavior. I.e. It takes a certain amount of recklessness to sleep with someone that you've only known for a few hours, proportionally more recklessness to go home with two guys for a threeway, etc. Tattoos, body piercings, and colored hair are also red flags for the same reason, and they're a visual cue that the girl is attempting to reject soc…

That's a misunderstanding. Not only are there many relatively safe African countries at the moment, most major civil conflicts have actually been driven by rival tribal groups that are currently scattered between countries. When Africa was divided, the land belonging to the existing tribal groups was split by the European powers, and when those powers left, no one wanted to rewrite the state borders of the continent to reflect the actual cultural geography. This means that -- particularly in Cen…

I've never met a woman under 25 who's ever been wrong. Women don't suffer attacks on their ego at all, as any guy who's ever suggested his wife go to the gym can attest. That said, I've lived in many different countries, and I believe it's generally a western phenomenon more than anything else. Women in Europe and Asia are much more honest in their assessment of themselves, because there are different social norms for giving and taking offense. Asian girls deal with being called fat much better …

As much as I disagree with the usual societal causes thesis, this is one of those rare cases where i do believe society is at fault rather than biology. My hunch is that there's an innate drive to try and protect women because they're valuable from a biological perspective, and that this manifests itself in the form of overprotective mollycoddling, and meaningless compliments (because 50% of the population is doing their best to get them naked). It's interesting to me that western countries need…

Yeah, plenty of guys do, is this somehow not common knowledge? Self-destruction is absolutely a hobby for a lot of young men, and the threat (or reality) of physical violence is something most guys will have to deal with sooner or later. A lot of wishy-washy rubbish here. Really? Having top level women in the military might have prevented wars like Iraq? Need I remind you that Condoleezza Rice was a major proponent of Iraq II? I agree that it's wrong to blame an entire gender, but I think any rational person, TRP or otherwise, would be able to see that. I think what TRP touches on for a lot of guys is that until recently, the discussion has been pretty one-sided. Many guys have been raised under the wishy-washy feelgood paradigm of "just be yourself", which doesn't really prepare you for the actual reality of dating and finding a partner. No, oppression tends to be out-group, because it's acted upon a group of people. You can't be a part of the group you're intending to oppress, because you have to perceive yourself as something other. If you can't see the group division, you aren't looking deep enough. This is because racism (or at least tribalism) is also likely an innate part of our biology. Oppression of other groups is merely an expression of this innate drive (i.e. group strengthening by alienating those external to your group). I would argue that culture is an emergent property of our biology, and that biology necessarily precedes most fundamental human behaviors. Food is an interesting one, because it's a social experience for a number of animals (sex is too, for that matter), but the tastes people prefer are generally pretty universal: sweetness, saltiness, and fats. There are layers that people put over the top, and acquired tastes, but generally, the hallmarks of taste are indicative of those three things. In terms…

If her friends aren't afraid of being judged by their peer group for tag-teamed in a pickup, chances are it's because they've all done something similar. In my experience, academic feminism is a lightning rod for the disenfranchised and marginalised women of society (i.e. not the attractive ones). They have a higher than normal frequency of lesbians and transsexuals who believe that the rules of society should be rewritten based on their own atypical experiences. Feminism pays a lot of attention to gendered terms, but doesn't see the issue with using a gendered term like 'feminism' as the name of a movement ostensibly about gender equality. How about 'humanism' or 'egalitarianism'? It marginalises the experiences of men, or attempts to roll them into the umbrella of feminism. I.e. The existence of PUA and the nigh omnipresence of prostitution since time immemorial (across vastly different cultures) should be an indication that the sex drives are not the same for either sex. I'm curious here, would you be able to answer a few questions as honestly as you feel comfortable with? I haven't spoken to many sex workers, but the ones I have come into contact with are invariably pretty damaged individuals. Have you ever been sexually assaulted or abused, either during the course of your work, or prior to? This includes rape, molestation, etc. How many people had you slept with prior to becoming a sex worker? Ever used drugs? Which ones and to what extent? What value do you …

Game won't do the job on its own, but it can make a huge difference. There's also a corresponding one for a woman dressed in a fat suit, and most of the guys bail on her. edit: another one. Looks matter, but game makes a big difference.

I get that, but isn't the same true for women enjoying the sounds men make? If so, why aren't men as vocal as women? Interestingly, female vocalization is very similar to that of females in other primate species, which share the same asymmetry in sexual vocalization (i.e. males don't call out as much). The type of vocalization also changes according to the social rank of the male she's with, and according to individual promiscuity. The long and short of it is that this shit is very, very ancient…

Men will generally respond to what it is that women find sexually attractive. If women wanted men to be sensitive and caring in the same way that women are, they would date men like that. Emma Watson's guy may be sensitive and caring -- we don't really know -- but he also embodies some pretty insanely masculine traits. It's hard not to be cynical when the message is being delivered by someone whose boyfriend looks like he belongs in a Gaul raiding party.

The big question is why females do it so much more than men. You can see this in porn, and I've had it reflected in my own experiences -- men are pretty grim and stoic by comparison (I tend to go for the "tradesman focusing on a job" style more than anything else, though the animal face is good for those wild nights). Women are far more vocal, and -- having been with both virgins and experienced women -- it seems to be instinctive. It's also linked pretty heavily to security and perception; I've…

Security is important for both people in the relationship. Why shit on the man for being insecure if his girlfriend has had sex with half the town? I've been in that situation, and it's not good for anyone. As a guy, once you know, you can't forget. And don't pretend that who you have sex with isn't an indication of who you are, because it undersells how powerful and emotional sex is for most people. Aside from there being a strong correlation between impulsiveness, borderline personality disord…

The big red flag for me would be that she had to do those acts to figure out that they were degrading. I would think that most guys have a pretty intuitive sense of what sex acts are intended to be degrading and which aren't, so if a girl willingly does those things, it tells me she either doesn't know, doesn't care, or thinks that way of herself. If she doesn't know, then she's naive or stupid, which is a bad thing. If she thinks that way of herself, again, that's a bad thing because she has no…

Daddy issues and a broken family background. Had to cross the road if we ran into people she'd slept with, and she laid a lot of baggage at my feet. There were a lot of poor decisions there. We broke up because I moved to a different city (I was already planning to go when we met), and I didn't want to do long distance. She was angry with me because she felt like she wasn't important enough for me to try. She was partly right, I never felt like I could trust her, given her history, her friends, …

Who's insulting them? All anyone here has said is that they don't want to have a relationship with a promiscuous woman. In fact, most have said they would happily sleep with such women, so if they're shaming them, they're doing it wrong.

If I have any sort of emotional investment in the girl, it's like a knot in the pit of my stomach. If I had to guess, it probably stems from jealousy, mainly towards the other guys, though if I'm honest there's also a bit of disgust in there for the girl as well. In any case, it makes me look at a girl differently; I'll probably still try for sex, but she's disqualified herself as relationship material. The exception is if she's a bit older, and it can be demonstrated that she hasn't been with a…

This is a bit of a stretch, don't you think? Firstly, what's your definition of psychological trauma, and what proof do you have that TRP actually causes it? Some of the radicals say some pretty messed up things, but I've never actually seen anyone on the sub advocate hurting people. If anything, they advocate complete honesty and transparency with partners. You're giving women far too little credit by assuming they have no agency when it comes to sex and relationships.
