I hear you. It takes two to tango—I hope you have found (or find) a good tango partner. Working things out is the only way to have a satisfying, happy, long-term relationship. Some of us just have trouble letting go of toxic situations and partners—we need a verbal kick in the butt to move on.

I’m going to add that it doesn’t have to be outright rejection. Face it, there are breadcrumbers out there who will string you along forever if you let them. Who knows what else they have going on or how long they will ALLOW you to take up their precious time. Whether they are waiting for something better, feeling sorry for you, or enjoying your side action, holding onto them only demeans you.

I’m female and know people who have been working on themselves for over 10 years—traveling, learning, going to concerts, forwarding their careers—and they would LOVE a relationship. Working on yourself is great if you have serious issues based on abuse or a history of toxic relationships... but at a certain point, you realize everyone has problems and eff-it, being celibate and alone for the remainder of your days isn’t worth it.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
