That's insane. It blows my mind. I was considering going to become a firefighter, and multiple people have said not to bother because they're pushing for more gender diversity. I was like "wow, they must be strong if they can carry 80kg packs up ladders!" Apparently they've dropped the weight requirements. Surely that's a safety/legal issue in itself? Ps, good work on becoming a lawyer. Usually people go into it for family or monetary reasons, but we need people to help fight the everyday bullsh…

I've watched this video multiple times, and it is so representative of our current corporate culture mixed with social media virtue signaling. I'm also Australian and I'm blown away that it has gotten this bad. I know people who have experienced legitimate sexism and discrimination (family, friends and I've experienced it as a male, too), but the ones usually making a deal about it are narcissists doing power grabs when they're out of legitimate options. Don't have an argument? Backed into a cor…

When trying to logically approach my thoughts of suicide a few years ago, I realised that the least selfish way to kill yourself, was to sort out your life and play the long game. The memes of "mom would be upset" are true. My child abuse wasn't my fault, yet I felt powerless and was trying to direct the pain back inside, where that was where it came from in the first place. The second most considerate way was die in a body bag, but then I realised I was 260pnds, so I'd need to lose weight in or…

We had a substitute science teacher tell us male year 8 students that she thought the female anatomy was tidier than males' and the whole class erupted and some guys were super insecure for a bit. Until we collectively realised their reproductive system was internal and ours was external, therefore it wasn't a fair comparison regardless. The teacher didn't respond to our findings.

So sorry to hear! Honestly, if you met my ex, you'd probably have said (and many people have) "She's absolutely lovely! You've done(did) well!" But she had some layers of her personality hiding her real character. When people say "I was out of character" - no, that was their real character being revealed. Amber Heard has revealed how unstable she is, and of course she would be, she's stunning and probably has had people say it to her face all her life.

Thanks OP. I've been abused by a man and assaulted/abused/everything by women. Humans are wired weirdly. Most of us just want to get by and be nice, but there's a bunch of men and women who prey on others. I dated a girl who was a lesbian and the stories she told. Omg. Also she carried that behaviour over to me. It is a complicated issue. Humans are weird creatures but the actions of one doesn't compare to that of the many. Thanks for sharing.

Honestly, I'm only a contractor and they really want to get rid of me for cost saving reasons. I'm just looking at their own staff turnover and wondering why they don't hire just one guy for a bit. He's in marketing and so his point of difference is that he's less likely to go on leave. He might even work harder to prove his worth and aim for a promotion.

Because maternity leave will be the nail in the coffin. I work with mostly women in their mid-20's and mid-30's and they all do the same thing - get hired, stick around for a few months, then go on maternity leave, then don't come back. I'd say it was a stereotype but it has happened 5 times in the last 18 months.

My brother worked at a church and so I went to visit him in the office. It was also a week day, so they would have people come and go, as well as deliveries and stuff all the time. I saw a couple or ladies standing at the glass door and waved while asking if they wouldn't mind letting me in. The lady who didn't have her back to me turned to hide behind the other lady. I could see her say that there was a guy at the door. The other lady turned around and was actually a family friend. She let me i…

It's a silly game to blame a whole group of people for the crimes of individuals or those of the past. I don't hate all women for what my ex did, nor do I hate the demographics of those who have hurt me over the years. Everyone is different and even if there is a slight trend, innocent until proven guilty. Witch hunts were a bad idea back in the day, and they certainly are now too.

One of my exes hit me when she got drunk. Nothing hard, but she would do it quite publicly at parties etc. She was a feminist and would blame me for the "millennia of oppression of women." She was hitting on a guy in front of me and her friends at a party once and I just broke it off. Years later she met up to apologise for how she treated me. It was really nice of her to do that, but I still see her be quite vocal about domestic violence to this day. She even did her paper on it.

I realised a couple of years ago that my frustration and increasing madness stems from this very issue. Not only am I constantly reminded about my own experiences of child abuse, but I'm also not allowed to talk about it. And that can drive anyone to depression, insanity or rage. When #MeToo peaked, at first I was confused: "why aren't these people listening to my valid points on this topic which directly affects me?" People: "what would you know?!" Yeah, she had anorexia when she was younger, so I think this influenced how she behaved. I told her she needed to chat to another psychologist herself (in the most loving way possible during a one-sided argument), and she said I wasn't the first person to say that. I had a housemate who peed while sitting down. He'd be on his phone and not paying attention. We had an apparent leak around the toilet but a plumber informed me that it was just piss. My housemate was peeing over the lip of the toilet bowl and it was running down to the floor. So, if you want to risk having a puddle, sure, make dudes sit.

I cannot stand white knights. I will never forget that time I was trying to help a guy who was having a fit. He was yelling in a fit as he lay on the ground after I pulled him away from moving traffic. He wasn't yelling words, so a normal person would hear something wasn't quite right. As a contractor, I'm constantly picking up the pieces anytime someone goes on maternity leave. It's a massive elephant in the room and everyone is afraid to call it out. Any female marketing manager between the ages of 27 and 35 is likely to disappear indefinitely and get replaced, and it's always my job getting them up to speed. The only times I've been taken home by random girls has been while I was so drunk that I could hardly walk. On both occasions they pretended to be a bit drunk and I wasn't up for doing anything, but they were. The next day, I would wake up feeling like death and they'd jump up and be ready for their days. Makes you wonder if a breathalyzer might help not just protect you from false accusations, but from girls who take advantage of guys.

It is disappointing. A friend actually sent me an article earlier, criticising this RUOK day campaign we have in Australia. I'm not sure why he sent it to me, apart from suggesting I probably supported it! Anyway, I agreed with the article in that essentially the campaign expects people to talk about their issues and depression out-of-the-blue, which is hard. I added that it is not so much because I can't, but because if I bring up anything heavy such as my abuse/chronic depression etc, people d…

There was an uproar about a male only workspace in Australia a couple of years back. Feminists and their minions went nuts. I foolishly asked my FB circles why it was worth their energy and time. I got grilled endlessly. "What you don't understand is that women need their space." I tried to suggest that 1 male only workspace wasn't worth worrying about, especially since there were 3,000 female only workspaces. Sounds like Australia to me. I keep saying it but it's an important message: as a victim of child abuse and a white male, who listens to what I have to say? The right. Who talks over me, makes assumptions of who I am and what my life has been like, then blames me for the very abuse I've actually experienced? The left.

Totally. A former flatmate had this girlfriend who took photos of me in my place once. She thought she was being discreet but I saw it, and she denied it. My flatmate even saw it. I was at least in a decent state of attire, but damn, privacy much? It's happened in public a couple of times (that I know of) too, once it was annoying me because they were very obviously taking photos and laughing. It has been incredibly eye opening, hey? I thought there was something wrong with my perspective of the world, but really, it was actually most people's simplistic approach to complicated issues that I was struggling with. I'd raise a valid point on an issue, only to get attacked/dismissed based on my gender/race, or people will literally see a triggering word out of the slab of text I had carefully written and assume I'm talking about X not Y. A good friend of mine surprised me when he said he was going to be a stay at home dad, because his wife was making more income as a programmer. I thought "progressive move, but hey if it works, do it." One day she said she wanted to separate, then she declined the pleas for marriage counselling etc and wanted a divorce. Honestly, it blows my mind how the media love licking bad/unflattering shots (and how blind people are to the swaying techniques). If you want to know which way the news outlet or author is slanted towards in their own opinions, see who has unflattering photos in their articles. Hey thanks! It's actually okay because it was a pivotal point in my perspective. I had an argument with my friend over this. It was just before Jordan Peterson became a big name. I was trying to explain that the pay gap was based on different work hours and career choices. Women's sport came up and I asked her how much sport she watched. When you personalize it, as a way of localizing/simplifying the problem, people get defensive. It is suddenly not a general or hypothetical issue, but one a single person has a mild impact on. At the end of the day people watch men's sport m…

100%. We have RU OK day in Australia, which is well intended, but like a lot of things, badly executed. Often when men open up, they're ignored, dismissed and/or insulted. I had a former friend send me a message which was seeing how I was. I replied honestly, life was hard and I was struggling, and they never replied. People miss the point so easily and really struggle with the concept of double standards. You point out to them that if the genders were reversed, it wouldn't be released, or that good men don't need an ad and bad men won't listen to it (so who is it for?) And people lose their minds. I'm in Australia and there have been a couple of instances where girls have been walking home alone at night and getting raped/attacked (mostly in Victoria for some reason). When that Gillette ad came out, I got fried on my Facebook for suggesting that it was a simplistic and redundant message, and that perhaps we should start with allowing guys to open up more when they don't like such a message from a shaving products company. I'm Australian, and an American friend suggested I was a Nazi for sharing an alleged conservative article. I've also been called a SJW before I even knew what it meant. How can I be both? Call out culture is what it is, and leftists (and conservatives) use it as a drug.

I used to be in the left, but I kept getting ripped into for having any opinion outside of the loudest trend. Like the Gillette ad, I work in advertising and thought it was a silly move to use social issues as a tool. I got fried. Suddenly I was expected to defend all sorts of tangential arguments. If I mentioned that men were three times more likely to commit suicide, and suggested it might be because they can't speak their mind when they need to... I was shut down! The irony and hypocrisy of t…

Yeah that's an interesting one. I think it might have something to do with men driving bigger or faster vehicles. Uber did a study that found males drive about 5% faster than female uber drivers.

Yeah that was the stat I saw. Or it was about 30% of total driving time and 60% accidents. I'll double check it. But I looked it up because some girl said women were safer drivers, and it wasn't so in my personal experience. Edit: Women involved in 68.1% of all crashes. Men drive 60% versus women's 40%. It's old data though. 1998-2007. https://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2011/07/women_worse_drivers_more_crashes_than_men_less_driving.html Edit 2: it's weird that these articles don't really sh…

Just chiming in to thank you for sharing this. In Australia, it's pretty hard to get jail time unless you do something quite severe. Despite this we have quite a lot of strict laws, particularly in NSW. Right now there is a discussion about trying to save drug related deaths at festivals and you have the loudest voice (conservative citizens and politicians) demanding harsher punishments for offenders as a solution. The other voice is demanding pill testing and less police presence so it's more i…

I would take sexual assault over physical violence. I've had both, and usually the sexual assault has been inappropriate rather than malicious. Physical assault is almost always malicious.

I had a primary school teacher rip into me over my criticisms of the Gillette ad. I let her finish then said "considering males make up less than 20% of primary school teachers, aren't you somewhat responsible in shaping who these young kids become?" Shut. Down.

Hey thanks heaps and likewise! It must be rough trying to speak up against such an authoritative figure as well. It's a broken world and our character is shaped by it. I was weak (or at least confused) for a while but now I'm a lot stronger. I had about 5 years of alcohol and drug abuse. I do find I'm more challenged by the current climate of demonizing all men, though, because basically we are being denied our voices whilst bombarded with reminders of our own abuse. I find that almost as bad as…

His parents and grandfather didn't seem to believe me and remained friends with the guy. He would smile and say hello to me for years. I was helping a man who was having a fit once. He was rolling on the road and nearly got hit by passing cars. I pulled him off the road and held him gently on the ground. Everytime I didn't, he got up and ran, then faceplanted on concrete. I asked for someone to call for an ambulance as I tried talking to him. Problem was, he kept yelling. I've said it before, but what gets me the most about the movement is that it has taken the voice away from real victims of indecent sexual assault. Me included, especially since I'm male. I was kind of happy brushing my abuse under the carpet over the last two decades, but the #MeToo movement is essentially what the overly sensitive define as "triggers" for me now. I have heard this call many times. My friends will grab a blunt/beer and relax for the first time in ages and a call will come through. They work hard, and still not good enough. The more the wife nags, the more the husband retreats. He won't talk about his emotions or issues because it becomes ammunition for the next argument and he's in a worse situation than before. It drives me up the wall... "transgender suicide rates are through the roof post op!!!" ... but you can't say "well, if I cut my dick off, I might regret it and get a little sad..." Almost everyone is at least a little depressed, if you allow people to think they're special, that they can successfully change themselves and be happy, rather than work on their self-esteem in a healthy way, then you're adding water to a petrol fire, and the mess will spread into other areas.

Absolute bullshit. I was the respectful and nice (naive) guy. Girls stomped over me and one even apologised years later (but then proceeded to be a feminist activist anyway). When I stopped caring and saying or doing what I actually thought or wanted, girls found it a lot more attractive. Most girls I've met like that dominating aspect (or confidence) of a guy. They may play hard to get but want the guy to chase. It's very much high school girl behaviour. And yet here we are, with the manual tel…
