In a way, there still is. You get tax benefits for being married and you get tax breaks for having kids. Only difference is that instead of asking the bachelors to pay, they give extra money to the married/parents. The end result is the same though.

You'll at least want to make some small investments regularly. You don't want to find yourself at 65 with only $50k in the bank. If your employer offers 401k matching, you should take advantage of that to the fullest. It's LITTERALY free money. From there, if you max out a ROTH IRA (6k/yr) each year (or at least put a few thousand in), and invest primarily in consistent ETFs(VTI/QQQ/VOO)/mutual funds(VTSAX, FZROX, FNILX), then you'll be sitting alright late in life. I witnessed this shit firsthand with my parents. My mom hadn't worked for years, but she kept the house and the kids in the divorce. My dad moved into a somewhat crummy apartment. He ended up sueing my mom for custody of my brother and I (and won) because she couldn't support us. The fact that they thought giving 2 kids to a woman without a job was ever a good idea in the first place was really the fucked up part.

With a divorce rate of 50%, and a fraction of the remaining 50% being satisfied in their marriage... statistically speaking, my best move is to just avoid the situation altogether. There's zero benefits to getting married as a man. Some will say tax benefits, but that's entirely offset by the cost of the wedding/honeymoon/taking care of your wife. Nearly half of marriages end in divorce. How many of the remaining relationships do you think are just couples staying together because they had kids? Or because the man realizes it'd be too expensive to go through with a divorce? On that note, don't have kids either.
