Have you considered that maybe the game is simply harder than it used to be? And not only that, but rewards lower? If you keep turning those levers, you are bound to get a change in people willing to take in the challenge. It's like getting a Masters/PhD. In many fields, you are better off working after a bachelors degree rather than stay in academia. Would we fault those people if the difficulty slowly kept increasing over time and ROI kept lowering? Would we saying those people just weren't wi…

As a guy, I have a hard time blaming men for giving up. That's an entirely reactive response - men don't typically give up before they try. If the environment lends itself to not rewarding men who try, then men will cease to.

I was more referencing when you commented What she earns, she should use for her kids. If her income alone results in her kids being in squalor, he should help pay for his kids NEEDS up to a certain standard. It implies that the father should have no obligation to pay for their children unless the mother doesn't make enough money. Maybe I'm understanding your response wrong

I agree child support payments are currently a transfer of wealth rather than actual child support. That's why I mentioned that if payments were more reasonable and didn't necessarily scale with income, you would see more men take that leap of faith. I'm curious why you think that the mother should be the only parent under financial obligation unless below a particular standard?

The irony here is that there is no path he could have taken that would have redeemed him in her eyes. Option 1: Do everything it takes to get by. Pick up whatever jobs you can get. Reduce your expenses. Option 2: Borrow money from your girlfriend (as she recommended in the post). Having to borrow her money would have disgraced you in her eyes anyways. Plus you would be in debt, even if not stated it would be a point of contention. He picked option 1, which was the correct path. He didn't want to…

I'm not arguing that looks and fertility aren't related. They are both affected by age. What I'm saying is that the wall mostly commonly refers to a drop in attractiveness rather than a drop in the ability to have children.

Marriage exists for a reason. I'm a man, but if I were a woman I would not want to build a family which would involve having multiple kids, being out of work for years, and overall being financially dependent on a man that can leave at any time with me holding the bag. The only problem here is that marriage has lost relevance due to many social, cultural, and economic reasons which makes this exchange a lot less fair than it was. Simply put, marriages fall apart far more often and there is less …

That article mainly refers to age and uses their shorter fertility window as a reasoning for why their looks fall off faster. Regardless, I've never seen the wall refer to fertility rather than age on reddit.

No, the wall refers to degrading looks since women who look better are treated better. /u/JohnDoe9564 is referring to the biological desire to have a kid which has a time limit.

One component of what would initially attract me to a woman is her career because it demonstrates a certain class of person and their values. This is important as both parents influence their children's values. When/if I marry I would value my wife having more time to raise the kids. It would also be helpful to have somebody that can manage the small things that pop up which is an inconvenience to two working adults. If children were off the table, I would not support a woman who doesn't work.

I don't know why people put bisexual or pansexual in their profile. If they intend to have something serious with you, it shouldn't matter what groups they are attracted to. To me it just always feels like it's a lead in to a conversation down the road of wanting to have a side piece because all of her needs aren't being met.

Timing and choice. For example I want to have children. If the girl I'm seeing right now were pregnant, that would not be what I would choose. I would maybe not start a family with her, even if I do want a family. The last time I asked this question I phrased it incorrectly. Let me go back to the original wording I used which was Why would men overwhelming abandon their children more than before? You answered why men would abandon their families. I agree that timing and choice is a good reason. …

I disagree that selfishness is inherently unethical and something being ethical means it cannot be selfish. Many selfish acts leads to the benefit of society as a whole. The basic premise of capitalism helps put people into roles that they have a comparable advantage in which is overall better for the entire system. If you are not nihilistic you will state that being alive is good(life/existence is good) and so better than a neutral non-existence, and therefore preferable. In any case, I don't e…

It doesn't. The requirement for being a single mother is the father choosing to be absent. There aren't single mothers were the father is not absent. By definition. Most 'single mothers' call themselves that when separated from the father and have primary custody. Many single mothers receive support, both through child support, alimony, and fathers taking care of the children for their appointed time. Multifactorial, probably. In any case it requires the father choosing to live their child. Othe…

Having child is an ethical necessity for the propagation of humanity. Wanting to not have children means not allowing humanity to propagate, that is, the annihiliation of humanity. The ideology that posits that we should not have children is unavoidable nihilistic. There are other reason than to merely enrich one's own life. Yes, children are required for humanity. I did not say having a child was a bad thing and I did not say we should avoid having children. I want several myself one day. I sim…

What makes single mothers single mothers is because the father is absent. That's just simply not true, and is a view that suffers from the 'women are wonderful' syndrome. Over the last century the rate of single parenthood (motherhood) has skyrocketed. Why would men overwhelming abandon their children more than before? Personally, I think most of this increase is on women due to a combination of government replacing men as the provider giving women less of a reason to work things out, social med…

If they were selfish, why even have a child Having a child is selfish. It is giving life because it's something you want. You aren't doing an unborn child any favor by bringing it life. You are having a child to enrich your own life. Although I say it is selfish, that doesn't mean it is inherently a bad decision - it's ok to be selfish. With that said, if you have a child outside of having a strong relationship or with advance warning that the dad doesn't want that responsibility, you are being …

I have a perspective on one of your questions You haven't answered. What is disgusting about giving a fatherless child a future and a home? It's not a bad thing. I agree, to an extent. The problem is marriage was much more relevant back when it was common for women to be financially dependent, and now you can argue it is a financial incentive for women to leave a marriage in some cases. But when I am married and have kids I would like my wife to stay at home with the kids during their formative years. In circumstances like these, where we would have an arrangement that she wouldn't be financially independent, I can't see any woman who would think not get…

As a man I think marriage is a raw deal and heavily in favor of the lower income partner. But I would be lying to myself if I didn't agree it was a strong filter between men who are more likely to stay committed versus less likely. It doesn't solve the issue of women ending marriage, which they wouldn't have done when marriage was a better idea than it was today, but it certainly helps ensure the man isn't the reason the relationship fails.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/04/21 05:08 PM

I think that's oversimplifying things way too much. Men who are willing to marry provides an effective filter between men who are more likely to stay committed to a family arrangement than those who are more likely to wander off. I'm not saying marry men who have a natural predisposition to not want to be a father as long as you can coerce them into marriage. Men do not get married thinking it will end. Men do not want to start families thinking it will end up fractured. Men who want to start fa…

As a man, I don't like marriage because it is of little to no benefit to me. But if I were a woman I would certainly push for marriage as it is a fairly strong security net for myself and children. Marriage isn't a sign of commitment but it is a very strong deterrent from a man leaving the role of father. I agree that all a family needs is an involved father (provided the mother is doing her fair share and giving appropriate support as well). What I'm saying is that you are more likely to have a…

I've avoided many perceived unsafe situations in my life simply walking around as a guy. You see a group of people at night in certain clothing that screams low class? I won't dare go that way. I believe many women, on this board especially, would assume that any man can just walk comfortably by under no threat, which is not true. But we don't develop a victim complex over it either.

I think women are expected to keep themselves looking good if they want to feel more relevant in their friend groups/society/outings/etc. I think most men who end up at 50 just simply do not care how they are perceived the same way. And if enough guys act that way, and most do, it just becomes normal.

Ehh... Disagree. When most people say legacy the easy response is "yeah, but nobody in X years/generations will even know you!" Ok, so what? It's not entirely about if random people remember your name. It's deeply satisfying to see a mini-you that you get to raise that also happens to have a lot of features and mannerisms that resemble you. Although you will not be remembered, you are throwing a bit of yourself into the future and it gives a feeling of continuity.

I honestly am not sure what you meant by that. Kevin is the one putting a price tag to living in a city, for the majority of conversations. I've lived in Atlanta for years so I'm well aware that housing prices can be high for highly desirable locations but that's expected for high density cities. No, it's not accurate at all. Plenty of people have families in large cities without bringing in half a million dollars a year. I heard a conversation where he said a couple would need $350K/Yr in a city and once she mentioned wanting three children he upped it to $500K/Yr. There is no way a couple without children would need $350K/Yr in any city unless you wanted literally the most desirable housing, services, and luxury. Does the country need more babies, though? I'm not even asking from a cynical or nihilistic perspective, either. If these women were future-minded they would find men at the colleges they attend who have good future prospects, and maybe that happens often, but these callers wanted the guys making that money now, normally because they are starting to age and need to provide for a family on an expedited time scale. I think it will be a lot more 'honest' in that way, but I'm curious how society will shape when a lot of men that were truthfully only able to secure sexual relationships, in large part due to providing, drop out of the sexual/relationship marketplace. By extent they may also drop out of progressive professional achievement as their level of financial contentment, in my opinion, is far lower than that of any women. Will it end up turning into women with higher degrees and income subsidizing men?…

When I say patriarchy I do so in a 'tongue in cheek' fashion, where I don't really believe you can attribute the development of society based on the whims of men in power. Realistically society formed in a way that seemed to be best for men and women in different ways, and in the past where there were less safety nets financially and more labor was required to maintain a family unit there was a natural distribution of labor that formed based on gender differences. It just so happened that monoga…

I quite enjoy modern amenities. The fact is the 'patriarchy' incentivized men to contribute and build society in order to demonstrate value and amass resources to secure sex/family. If it comes too easily, or not at all despite high effort, the system starts to fail. I don't think women are as naturally inclined to engage in direct labor, though I will admit they do just fine in indirect roles.

It's disingenuous to compare the asshole banker versus the lower earning guy who is 100% committed from a personality perspective. The reality is that both income and personality matter and just because you have more of one doesn't mean you have less of the other. Trouble with finances is consistently one of the top causes of stress in relationships and women seek out higher earning men because the extra money can remove relationship barriers as well as facilitate life goals. A lot of posters would say that a woman has no value after her 20s but that is objectively not true based on what reality shows us. There seems to be no shortage of men that are willing to commit to a woman in her 30s, but she must realize it's an entirely different ballgame. Men gain negotiating power as age goes up. She won't have access to the same caliber of men she could have snagged when younger and has to have realistic expectations. If she stays in shape and doesn't have excessive baggag…

It's possible to love somebody, but not unconditionally. There is the smallest of possibilities that your children can make a series of poor decisions to the point where you no longer want to associate with them. That doesn't mean the love isn't there, or that they weren't loved growing up, but for most people there does exist a line.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/21 04:03 AM

Kind of. I think many men still want to raise their own children alongside the mom, and normally marriage facilitates this. If you can marry a woman with similar income you will minimize your risks. Statistically marriages between college educated people have fairly low divorce rates. But yes, there is a lot of risk. Some benefit, and you could argue not enough, but it is not without some upside.

This is what the guy said you responded to with your false claim. Yeah they do. A woman at my looks and fitness level has her pick of men. Whereas I’m just another invisible average nobody. And he is right. A women does have her pick of men because men are willing to sleep with those that they would not consider for a relationship or seen as his sexually appealing equal. What this means is that the men who are most attractive get far more sex than those who are less attractive.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/21 03:41 AM
6

Yes, it absolutely does matter if you are going around making the point that men have more sex than women when it's not mathematically possible. It's to make a point that doesn't exist. Even if they have sex the same amount it is still unproven. This is the entire point - it is proven that men have sex the same amount as women (as an entire group) because it takes two to tango. So it is not valid for somebody to complain that men or women have more sex.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/21 03:35 AM

Let me quote the particular part of the wiki I think you're referring to. "Men, on average, have significantly higher sex drives and desire for sexual activity than women do; this also correlated with the finding that men report, on average, a larger total number of lifetime sexual partners,[17] although mathematicians say it is logically impossible for heterosexual men to have more partners on average than heterosexual women.[18]" So, how are men impossibly having more partners than women?

Can this not be in part because of how difficult it can be to have a meaningful relationship with a child who primarily lives with the mother? Both legally and otherwise.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/02/21 08:59 PM

It wasn't left intentionally unclear. Peterson followed up by saying that nobody ever put forward the notion this would be a legal issue and instead said it was cultural pressure. Such as if you were a father would you encourage your daughter to pursue long term or short term relationships? What about her peers? That is enforced monogamy if being monogamous is culturally supported.

Does that not sound strange that the expectation for men rises while the reward for performing that role continues to lower? I have no doubt somebody on a micro level can improve and become attractive to another person, provided they aren't being unreasonable with their expectations... But from a macro perspective the incentive to do so continues to lower.

Two weeks is enough to immediately disqualify a woman, but not long enough to qualify a woman who appears that she can be marriage material. You'll only know at two weeks if your long-term intention is marriage, but not that she will be able to make the cut. Plus, part of the problem is that the first two weeks people are masking themselves to a degree and everything is exciting. That is no basis for a lifelong commitment.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/01/21 07:08 PM
16

Guys don't know immediately if they want to commit to that woman. It takes a while because there is a vetting process where you wait and see if any major red flags pop up. This is especially true for men who have a more intimate understanding that marriage is more of a financial contract than a commitment of love.

MGTOW is a natural product of our environment where we are more technologically and financially capable as individuals than ever before. There is no actual need to be part of a community, to be dependent on another person for the long haul, etc.

There are many differences between what you originally stated and the strawman analogy you created to represent my perspective. First, correlations can be made between the food you eat and your health outcomes. You can correlate the two, conduct repeatable studies, and make actionable recommendations based on the best information available. MGTOW vs 'MGHOW' is entirely subjective, especially given MGTOW is a matter of individual values and your 'MGHOW' is religious in nature and faith-based. But…

I have browsed this forum for a while and enjoy its content, but never post. I felt compelled to in this situation because I feel your post works against not only the premise of this sub but is, at a basic level, shaming men for passively and peacefully living their own lives. Many of these men are 'going their own way' because from every side there are those who would push their own beliefs and values upon those men, to spur them to action, and to use them as sacrificial pawns. You note that th…

Women leave "un-healthly" men. Not only that, but obviously men who are healthier are more attractive and have a higher chance of becoming married. Just because healthier men are selected more often does not mean that marriage causes healthier men.

On a moral level, I grade actions based on the following premise: If everybody performed X action, would the world be better or worse? Example: Littering. One person littering has near zero impact on the entire massive world. But if everybody littered then the world would not be in a state that I would enjoy living in. I see prostitution the same way, which is the result and cause of many issues. I did speak on behalf of OP supporting his right to make his own decisions, but I reserve the right …

Because I feel both individuals and society benefits when sex remains an intimate act between committed partners. When treated too casually, in my opinion, it dramatically lowers the chance that families stay unfractured (as a primary issue) and causes many societal issues otherwise.

Although on a moral level I disagree with OP visiting prostitutes, I see no reason why a single man can't consider that transaction as just another line item in the budget and plan accordingly. It's possible he gains more than he loses out of the transaction, and single guys can often have the problem of having more money than what they need to be content.

Making the argument that one should forego luxuries in life as a battle of wills against temptations is, in my opinion, silly. You could use the same argument for any other measure of desire that you might inherently have. It also refocuses the discussion around feelings rather than objective reality. I believe in understanding what you desire out of life and making a calculated judgment on what is worth pursuing, and what isn't, based on available information. In this regard, there is plenty of…

There's a decent chance you'll never get over it. As you age you will become more self assured of who you are but most of us, biologically, have a desire to be sexually desired. But it does get easier when other aspects of your life are going well. Meaningful hobbies, work, friendships, etc.

I personally believe that it is a major cope to think that life is going to take a complete 180 at the age of 35. Sure, the average man will get a lot more attention from women that are around that same age, but these single men will have desired a long term committed relationship starting from their 20s. The catch 22 is that by the time you are 35 you won't have the incentive to commit to somebody else despite having more options. Plus, it's undesirable knowing that many of the people that are …

I'm a fan of 3x5, been doing it for a long time. I think the main thing I like about it is convenience. My gym has wonky hours and it's not uncommon for me to have to work late. Skipping a full body day is far less punishing and easier to work around than some sort of split.

My only advice to very fresh gym goers is "Just show up." The primary goal is literally just for that person to leave their house and walk into the gym. The exercises don't matter that early, what matters is to create a habit.

I think as a man you should do what you want and feel comfortable doing. If you want to cry, let a woman be the breadwinner, then whatever. You do you. I'd argue that if you go off dating apps, you're a little off. Women know they are desirable to a large group so they try to add filters to find what they really want. By saying she likes traveling, eating, shopping she can filter for those who are more likely to spend on her. Men need to stand out from the crowd so they have to sell themselves and so they pick hobbies or make mentions of things that will highlight his skills that she would like him to have. You can bet in an alternative univers…

Men and women can be friends. What you do is simply treat the women like anybody else. Have boundaries and don't treat her special because she's a woman. Not all women are cut from the same mold, and some are actual 'bros' that I have a better friendship with than many men. And couldn't your point #5 be true for literally any relationship, male or female? Any time you spend with anyone or doing anything is time spent not spending time with a desirable women. Poor argument to not hang out with pe…

You will be surprised the majority of time most guys are single by choice. I don't think this is true at all. The vast majority of men very much want to have a relationship with a woman. Remember that what you read on this tiny pocket of the internet does not represent the general population.

I don't necessarily align with a political group. I like some views on the left and some on the right. I can vote for either party based on the candidate and their beliefs. With that said, I am a huge proponent of the individuals ability to make their own choices and then to face the consequences of those decisions, good or bad. The last point about blocking anybody who wants to know her in person is one of the biggest issues here. Anybody whos serious about online dating will chat just long enough to make sure the other person doesn't have any serious issues, then meet up. You don't really know if you will like the other person until you interact in person. The problem is that women get a lot out of the constant validation of spending hours/days/weeks texting that a man is vying for her attention. Most of the time they…

Most men are OK with providing financially for a woman and raising a family alongside a good woman. The problem isn't marriage, it's the divorce, where he is expected to continue providing his end of the contract (financially) while no longer receiving the benefits of marriage and having a fractured family. But that is irrelevant to the OP which is claiming that a woman who is successful is less desirable to be around.

I would accept blame for making a mistake, but I would certainly not pay them back if I was OP. Cashiers covering for business losses due to scammers, especially given everybody makes mistakes, is ridiculous. Plus, we're talking only $100 over an entire year. /r/MGTOW20/11/20 01:53 AM

I disagree in the sense that finding your purpose is not something only done when you are young, and not only done once. We change throughout our lives and start to prioritize different things over time. We follow what we feel is best for us, at that time. For example, you referenced being an athlete. You are not an athlete forever as we do have a physical prime, and once that phase of your life is over there needs to be a new purpose to guide you.

Also, imo, with all due respect, the term "traditional masculinity" is coined to downplay biological and psychological traits I use the term traditional masculinity because there are some aspects of masculinity which I think are biological and some aspects that are cultural. I'm not downplaying masculinity at all, I'm just saying that if you try to chase a label that other people put a definition to, then you …

but it needs to do a better job in trying to uphold masculinity Disagree with you here. Do whatever makes you happy. If that means doing something that isn't traditionally masculine, then go do it. In my mind, trying to act in accordance to an external definition of masculinity is, at some level, bending to the manipulation of others telling you how you should act. Internalize what you want after life and follow your path.

Every time the government subsidizes college education costs, the prices climbs.
