You have a point when it comes to careers in politics, but the point does not necessarily hold true with entertainment. Read what Taleb has to say in "Antifragile" about fragile vs. antifragile careers. Politics is fragile; one's reputation is paramount and any negativity is damaging. Musicians, writers, artists and the like are antifragile in that no press is bad press - anything that increases your notoriety is beneficial.

I disagree with your definition of power. Power lies in having influence; influence is gained by having something the other person wants, or by having the ability to take away something the other person has. This scales up and down based on the stakes. You make some good points in this post, but overall it encourages a passive, reactive mindset. It's good advice for taking things in stride, but very poor advice for shaping one's environment according to one's desires.

I don't know where you live, but a cursory google search should point you in the right direction for classes in your area. They're common enough. Absolutely true about unsolicited advice. My point above is that the knowledge should not be doled out as advice at all; it should simply be lived. Eventually, individuals may come to you wanting to know more, at which point you can slowly begin to open their eyes.
