So, how do you deal with the fear of being alone in your old age? Do you ever think about being alone when your daughter leaves you? I mean, when she goes to school or moves on with her life as an adult. How will you cope without someone by your side? I'm just curious.

We did it twice... things got worse after

This is a perfect summary of how I feel about leaving my wife and kids. Whenever someone tries to guilt trip me, I tell them the two kids were more traumatized in a toxic marriage than outside one.

She did the absolute worst a woman can do to a man: cheating and severely violating your masculinity. You should be angry, and turn that anger into improving yourself in every way. See her as the one who cucolded you, and went for what she subconsciously saw as a genetically superior male. Read books, hit the gym, eat right, become a superman. Then go conquer the world!

This is very similar to mine. Traveled overseas for work. Fell very sick. She ignored me completely. I suddenly realized I was alone and if I died she would get all the life insurance payments. Left the house for good.

This is the real answer. She sounds very much like my stbxw. Very controlling. What the people offering couples counseling as an option fail to realize is that personality issues are extremely difficult to resolve. She will NOT change but can pretend to just to win you away from your new woman. Women hate and always compete with each other. Once you settle with her, all the old issues will come back, but this time much much worse!

It's always a mixed feeling. I mostly feel relieved (still separated, not yet divorced) but also sad and frustrated I married the wrong woman despite considering myself a smart man. I also feel sad that my kids won't have a normal family.

We married the same woman. Damn!

Yes. She exhibited controlling behavior and deep insecurities but I assumed it was like that with most women and would get better with time. Well, it got significantly worse

OK. On the Au Pair subreddit, people spend 35-40k on average per year. It's a good option to look into. Thanks

Not surprising. My stbxw accused me of marital rape out of the blue. She backtracked though, and said it was out of anger she said it. Never trust them. They would tell every lie in the book to get one up on you.

The CS estimate at 20/80 is around 3k and will drop to around 2000 at 50-50. She works but I make significantly more than her. If I drop one or both side hustles, the CS will also drop. One way is to get my lawyer to argue that I can't work more than 40 hrs and do 50-50. In that case if I drop the side hustles, CS becomes about 1k.

They are usually around two weeks. She is currently unreasonable because she doesn't want to be divorced. It's a big stigma in Africa for a woman to be divorced. I hope she comes around and becomes more flexible.

I am leaning towards the alternating weeks one. I hope she agrees
/r/Divorce_Men18/06/24 02:54 PM

What if it's the other way round, she wants to tie you to the little town by insisting on 50-50 physical custody? So you are forced to deal with her all your life? How do you get away?

Thanks. This gives me hope. I wonder about the cost of a nanny though. Is it a full time live-in nanny?

Thank you. Sounds complicated. The week blocks might work better for me so I can plan accordingly.

This makes sense. Thank you. For the child support calculation though, can I get them not to include the side hustles in the calculation since I am stopping them?
/r/Divorce_Men18/06/24 12:37 PM
4

This is not BS. Maybe I wasn't clear. I have one main job with international travel and two side hustles which are part time remote consulting gigs. Is it clearer now?
/r/Divorce_Men18/06/24 12:11 PM
1

One is a main job and two are side hustles. I plan to stop one of them but my attorney says they will use current status quo. But you are right . I will plan to stop the side hustles to have more time for childcare and pray they revise the child support downwards when I do.

Not really. She is very secretive and manipulative.

I am in the process of divorcing from a 10 year marriage. If I spend 35 years with one woman, I'll just grit my teeth and stay on till we die lol

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
