I don't think what's being referred to as "masculine men" is necessarily a reference to physical presentation, so much as a performance of behaviour coded as "masculine". By this schema, a "masculine" man is one who displays traits such as decisiveness, determination, calmness, ambition and bravery. This is as opposed to "feminine-coded" traits such as gentleness, compassion and kindness. Now - there's nothing wrong with a man who displays feminine traits. In fact, a balance of feminine traits w…

Meh. Finding someone attractive is more of a vibe. Breaking it down to components is sperg shit.

Uhh...neither? Rootless burnout or career drone both sound pretty grim, IMO.

Ahh - now I get you. There can be a fine line between flirty games and game-playing; and I think I was reading (unfairly) the latter. The push and pull of flirting with someone you’re into is great fun.

Well sure - but I’m certain you’ve had to deal with some dude who is certain you’re into him, and just won’t leave you the fuck alone, and/or gets super pissy when you try to let him down. I mean - it’s a really affirming feeling to have someone chase you - but if you’re trying to get a particular guy, surely it’s a better bet to talk to the dude and feel out the vibe. It’s not like it needs to be any more than just some flirty banter. That said, if you’re at a party and you’re just sorta chummi…

Maybe it’s a cultural thing; but most well-adjusted dudes where I come from would read that as “she’s just a flirty person. Enjoy the flirting, but chasing her will be futile.” Or “I might have read that wrong. She’s not that interested.” I mean - it’s not like a woman has to be yelling “let’s bang” through a megaphone for us to get the message, but flitting about the room playing guys off one another seems like a good way to attract the sort of dude who just bulldozes his way past people’s boun…

If all you’re after is sex, then yeah - a sex worker might be a good way to cut to the chase. But if the only reason you’re interested in women is sex, then you’ve got a weirdly stunted view on the world.

There are definitely ugly guys who get laid all the time. They’re married, or in relationships. You wanna get laid, get a girlfriend. A vanishingly small number of men are getting laid on the reg outside relationships. A slightly larger, but still small number will shag more than a few women a year. Why are RP types so keen to emulate either group? Their lives are probably no better than yours.

That's the thing about the TRP wall thing, we can crowbar it into any human interaction and look smug while saying "See! See! AWALT!" FTFY.

Unsustainable? What’s unsustainable is the resource draw humans are putting on the planet. Given that there’s well over six billion of us, I don’t think we’re at any risk of species collapse any time soon. All that’s happening is birth rates in developed countries are below replacement. It’s not some Children of Men shit just yet.

Out of curiosity- What about a guy who’s a good listener? By that I mean is engaged with what you’re saying and asks good questions; just doesn’t give a heap of himself up?

Why do people seem to assume “introvert” means “total sperg”, or confuse extraversion with being self confident and well socially calibrated? I’m pretty introverted, but I love socialising and meeting new people. I just run out of steam fairly quickly, particularly in unfamiliar settings. That’s fine - at least I never outstay my welcome that way.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/10/20 10:43 AM

Sure; but they're things like "makes me laugh" or "I feel good when I'm around him" or "gets along with my friends & family". Not "drives an expensive car" or "is rich" or "pays for all my shit".

Lol. I’m in my 40s. My single women friends in my my age range seem to have a threshold list of “has a job and a functioning dick”. I’d suspect they have other must-haves; like “isn’t a paranoid troglodyte convinced I’m trying to steal his money”.

Oh, and BTW, thinking that relationships and dating don't cost a lot of money is a little something we call female privilege. God you migtows are dorks. Dating is expensive if you lack imagination and solve every problem by throwing money at it. Like I said, all you’ve gotta do is demonstrate that you actually give a shit, and that’s a pretty solid date for most women - whether it works out or not. Like - if it’s a nice day outside, what kind of dumbshit suggests a restaurant date? Go for a walk…

I think we agree - prima facie, terp advice isn’t bad (nor is FDS for that matter) - have standards, respect yourself, cultivate a balanced life. If it was just that, your average BP wouldn’t care. Honestly, I think most terpers spend so much time tripping over their own dicks trying to hack women’s brains that they just make themselves (and every woman they cross paths with) miserable, all while not being any more romantically successful than they would have been otherwise.

It’s about congruence. Match your investment level to the stage of the relationship. That's pretty commonsense. I'm definitely not suggesting blurting out professions of love on the first date. Be a challenge. (And actually BE a challenge, not just pretend to be one.) I'd probably phrase this as "have standards and stick to them", but yeah. I'm may be unfairly applying an opinion to you; but I find the idea of "maintaining frame" and (particularly) "dread game" odious. "Be a challenge" sounds...…

Broad shoulders = tshirts that are baggy around your midriff or cut off the circulation in your arms. Brand logo tshirts are cucked.

No, romance is about making her wonder if you give a shit, and leading her to hope that you do. Well, it's not romance, but it's probably desirable. Anyway...why are terpers so terrified of letting a woman know that they like them? If it's not reciprocal - too bad, move on.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/10/20 10:12 PM
2

Well, I'm with you on t-shirts (though finding cheap ones that don't fit like a tent is a struggle). I spend 90% of my waking life wearing dirty hi-vis and steel capped boots, so it's real fuckin' nice to put on well-fitted, well made clothes to go out.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/10/20 10:06 PM

Maybe. The fabric and construction of cheap jeans usually suck. I thought the same as you till I dropped $200 on a pair of jeans. Never going back. They're 4 years old and look brand new, despite being worn on the reg.

Why the fuck does every resentful dude think romance means dropping a bunch of cash? It’s about making a lady feel like you actually give a shit. That doesn’t need to cost one red cent. And if you’re just hanging around someone who annoys you trying to get in her pants...gonna have a bad time. And you’re half right - take sex out of the mix and things look different. But, if I meet someone who I think is cool, and I wanna be friends, I’m gonna think a lot harder about what we do when we hang out…

These horrible women, expecting to be romanced a little before they’ll touch your pee-pee. The temerity.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/10/20 04:59 AM

No - your relationships suck because they’re transactional. Shitloads of people form happy, long-lasting relationships every day. Marriage rates are going down because there’s not as much social pressure to marry.

You want some purpose? You won’t find it murdering imaginary enemies. The Greatest Generation weren’t great because of what they destroyed, but because of what they built. Divorce rates have been dropping since the 90s. In my country (Australia), it’s only about 1.5x the rate it was before no-fault divorce was introduced. Sure lots of people get divorced - but why is that so terrible? Why force people to stay in miserable situations? Long term relationships aren’t transactional; or at least the ones that are suck. A good relationship is shoulder to shoulder. I’ve been in one for 17 years. Would recommend. It’s the ideal place to build a good life.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/10/20 04:42 AM

And yet there still seems to be shitloads of people in relationships. Long term ones even. Get off the internet bro. It’s making you sad.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/10/20 02:29 AM
3

So don’t. I’m pretty solidly opposed to military “service”. The only reason to join up in the US is to get those welfare state benefits your country seems psychotically opposed to anyone enjoying. Honour? You’ve been playing too much COD. There’s honour to be had serving your community. Looking out for the less fortunate. Go find your honour there.

OLDs flaws reflects society’s flaws - we live in an intensely atomised society where every relationship is transactional. There is no room for solidarity or being part of something greater. But assuming that environment, OLD is fine, and it’s what we’ve got. Hate it? Work around it. And yeah - game can work. Not because it hacks women’s brains, but it gives you enough confidence to talk to them, rather than not talking to them (which is not a winning strategy).
/r/PurplePillDebate29/06/20 12:38 PM
1

Women file for divorce more than men. Different thing. That’s just paperwork. Most relationships don’t end with a furious “I’m leaving and I’m taking the kids”. Most of them end with a sad whimper of defeat from both sides.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/06/20 12:30 PM
5

You’re so cunning, what with the quoting me back to myself. And the missing the point. I think OLD is flawed, but basically fine. Terpers and Inkels seem to think it’s the End of Western Civilisation. If OLD is as awful as they claim, why not do something, rather than sit on Reddit bitching. Women are still amenable to being met IRL. It just means having the stones to go meet them (and no - I don’t mean creepy game shit).

What if the dude leaves? Then the woman (and the kid) are on the hook for his abandonment. I guess she should have somehow foreseen this. It is, after all, entirely her responsibility.

Laws of economics are guidelines at best. Especially once you add people to the mix. What you create is a generation of fucked up foster kids denied their natural parents. We tried this in Australia with our First Nations people. It didn’t end well. We call it “The Stolen Generation”.

Lol no. People do stupid shit all the time. Most people are shithouse at linking cause and effect. Even well educated and trained risk assessors suck at assessing risks. Britain in the late 18th century had outrageously harsh penalties for even the mildest offences. The crime rates were horrendous. I mean, the US jails poor people for everything, and your crime rates are fucked. Absent social programs, how do you think kids are going to be supported? The differences were: A marriage was the foundation of a relationship, not the capstone. You got married to someone you basically got along with and made the best of it. It’s not like getting out was really an option for most people. We had strong communities around us. Neoliberalism hadn’t utterly atomised us as individuals and reduced all of our relationships to transactions. You didn’t have to rely on your spouse to remotely the same extent. There was far less strain on marriages as a result.…

There sure are a lot of hate boners for hot chicks happening here. I'd say one big reason is that most guys don't have to stones to go and talk to a really attractive woman. And of the ones who do, I'm prepared to bet a lot of them go pretty gross and sexual early. If she's getting less dudes approaching her genuinely, and she filters for better looking guys - then yeah, the odds of making a connection are slimmer than for your average lady.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/06/20 07:54 AM

It's cause you suck and no one will ever love you. See - I can be obtuse too.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/06/20 01:27 AM

We’re going in circles here. Why she rejected you doesn’t matter; only the fact that she did. Rejection hurts. How you bounce back largely depends on your attitude. If you take the view that it was because you’re deficient in some way, it’s a lot tougher to bounce back. If you take the view that she’s just not in the right place for you at this moment, it’s a lot easier.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/06/20 01:09 AM

Of course not being “up to her standards” is a possible reason for getting shot down. But we’re talking strategy here. Second guessing what a woman’s standards are before talking to her will just get you stuck in your own head. As the old cliche says, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”.

Because a woman with low self esteem will require your constant validation, and will always think you’re about to cheat on her. This usually comes out in the form of passive-aggressive behaviour and weird clinginess. It’s exhausting. Emotionally healthy women FTW!

For gods sake, relax. Don’t approach every conversation like it’s gotta end in fucking. Don’t worry about whether they like you. Worry about whether you like them. If you want to date them, ask them on a date, make it clear it’s a date, and have a plan for said date. If you get shot down, it’s probably not something you did, it’s just that they weren’t in the right space. Chill out and move on.

From reading posts around here, I have gathered the following: Dicks are magical, and they change women magically. Every time a dude cums in a woman, he does something weird with her DNA. It’s a thing. I have proof. Women are collecting men’s DNA, for reasons that are almost certainly sinister. Women invented feminism to cuck something. Hypergamy! No one will touch my pee pee and it’s because feminism. All of the above are science. QED.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/06/20 09:57 AM

Yep. Pretty much. Edit: TRP probably will get you laid; but not because it's some ineffable science that has hacked women's brains. It's probably going to get you laid because it teaches you: enough style to look like a functional adult; and enough contempt for women that you can start approaching them without being too invested in the outcome (aka an abundance mindset). If you don't look like a wretched cave troll and you approach a bunch of women without getting discouraged too quickly, eventu…

Not to pry - but if you're feeling starved for compliments from your husband, you should probably tell him that a little validation is important to you. It's almost certainly not a matter of him not caring or withholding things on purpose. Even with the best will in the world it can be very easy to forget little niceties in a marriage.

Married a lot longer than you. I tell her I love her every day. I tell her she looks beautiful when she's made an effort to look good - she's not going to buy it if she's wearing a pair of stained track pants and a tshirt with a hole in it and her hair is doing a birds nest impression.

A high n-count says a lot more about you than mere 'impulsivity'. Yeah. It says you like bang - which I’d argue is a highly desirable trait in a long term partner
/r/PurplePillDebate26/06/20 05:14 AM

Impulsive people probably bang more. Impulsive people are more likely to cheat. Thus, having had lots of partners might be indicia of an impulsive personality. But the mere fact of having had a bunch of partners doesn’t necessarily make you impulsive, or more likely to cheat. You don’t “catch” infidelity from dicks. But youcould say that being really impulsive isn’t a good personality trait in a long term partner; and I’d probably agree with you.

Terpers sure are obsessed about how many dudes women have banged. What you’re not mentioning here is that the median age of first marriage has been steadily rising over that period. Almost like you can have a couple of relationships before you decide to get married, rather than be pressured into marrying your first boyfriend/girlfriend. What the table shows is that roughly half of women have 4 or fewer sexual partners before marriage. What’s that? A high school bf, a University bf, a cheeky one …

Exactly! My wife is a very accomplished woman. She gets compliments on her work all the time. She’s not going to give a shit if I compliment her work, but she loves it when I tell her she’s pretty.

I see you’ve read No More Mr Nice Guy. It’s only a covert contract if you expect an outcome and get pissy if you don’t get it.

I don’t buy the short thing. Out of all my friends, it was three dudes 5’6” or under who were smashing mad puss. The differentiating factor was that they are all considerate, cheerful, fun guys who absolutely adore women.

They’re so painfully in need of external validation that the idea of getting turned down seems catastrophic. So they build a story of the game being impossible to win so they can internally justify not playing. The only way to square this circle is to ignore the fact that ordinary dudes seem to be going on dates, getting laid, and having relationships all the damn time.

The study itself notes that the effect is correlational. The “thousand cock stare” idea assumes it’s causal.

If you’re looking at PPD for a representative sample of men, you’re in the wrong place. But yeah - there are loads of shitty, selfish, emotionally stunted, or even flat-out abusive men out there. And there’s a lot of women whose skills in picking men need work. That’s pretty much a given. But spending 99% of your time circlejerking about it is no more productive than the TRP apes chatting shit about feeeeeeeeemales. Having some well thought-through standards is a very good idea. But all the circ…

At its core FDS (kinda like TRP) isn’t bad advice - work on yourself, cultivate an abundance mentality, have standards and stick to them. However, as soon as it departs from that, it turns dating and relationships into a competition you have to win. This is a recipe for misery on both sides. It (and TRP, possibly moreso) also seems to spend 95% of its time pointing out how shit men are. I can’t fathom why anyone who takes FDS posts at face value would ever want to date a man. They all sound awfu…

This is what I don’t get. Normal, average-looking, play-by-the-rules guys get laid all the time. If some of the RP guys on here would stop lasering in on examples that confirm their prejudices, their lives might improve.

Okey dokey. Against my better judgement, I'll bite. Here's an actual response: Get as butthurt about the words "toxic masculinity" as you like; but if it went away tomorrow, you'd only find another term to be butthurt about. It gives you the luxury of never actually having to take a look at yourself. We men are the architects of our own oppression. The artifice of masculinity makes it virtually impossible to actually understand ourselves and each other; and puts up walls that mean we can't seek …

Sure. It would be nice to share contraception duties. However - drug companies don’t have much incentive to develop a male pill with an unreliable market. In a capitalist system, they’re much better off developing new boner pills.

How many women out there would be happy to take the word of a man who says he’s on the pill when she’s the one who could get pregnant? Not many, I’d guess.

There's a fair bit of space between having healthy emotional control and not showing any emotion. I think what u/SlashCo80 is saying is that if you're an emotionally illiterate gimp who is gonna get all sulky and passive aggressive every time you're angry until you eventually explode in a fit of plaster-punching, that's a bit of a boner-killer.

...and men need to develop healthy coping strategies and emotionally close friendships so their girlfriends don’t turn into their sole emotional outlet.

Its nothing to do with hookup culture. It’s just different philosophies of drug control. There are serious side effects associated with PEDs (no matter what your average juicer might say). That’s why they’re regulated in my country (Australia). I sincerely doubt that the Therapeutic Goods Administration takes whether it helps people hookup into account during their risk assessments.

No shade on women's struggle with unrealistic beauty standards, but come on... Dressing well might be easy; but even for the genetically blessed, as soon as you're out of your 20s, maintaining a six pack is a real chore. I mean - I run about 30km and do weights 3 days a week, and eat a wholefood vegan diet; but I still don't really have a six pack unless I'm dehydrated.

Stop thinking of every interaction between men and women as an evolutionary thing. Not everything is evolution. Human interactions are pretty much entirely mediated by social factors. So “nervousness” could potentially be an evolved response to a perceived threat; but evolution doesn’t encode exact details of what we need to consider a threat. Your brain tends to read unfamiliar things as potential threats until you’re more familiar with them. If you’ve not had a heap of experience interacting r…

That calling it a market is kinda dumb. It's just projecting the general capitalist obsession with turning everything into a transaction onto romantic relationships. I mean - you can call it a market, but it's not a good analysis. I think it's disingenuous to say that BPers say there are no gender differences in dating. There absolutely are. They just aren't the ones that the RPers think. Equally, I don't think anyone but the most hopelessly romantic BPers would say that "there's someone out the…
