Agreed and she is workable. There are just so many women in the world and how do I know for sure she is the right one? I feel like I missed my window not marrying my ex’s from the past who were objectively more impressive and more physically attractive and had more connections with because I was always searching for the next best thing… if I could do it all over again i’d marry my college sweetheart… life teaches us cruel lessons I guess

It just makes me sad that I’m not deeply in love with my wife… what’s the point of life if not in love? I’m going to try my hardest for the next 1 year to invest in the relationship. You’re probably right that my options as a divorced dad (even if rich and owner of local business) will not be the same… most likely a local single girl with no kids age 25-33 is not gonna wanna date/marry a divorce dad. I’m just depressed because I missed my opportunity to marry a local girl and create a life I alw…

My whole life my plan was to move to this town, meet a girl from this town and take over popular family business in this town… my ex was from here and more impressive we had a great social life but i messed it up cause she got fat… i hate myself for saying that out loud… she was what id be looking for my whole life… tall blonde from this town her family friends knew the business… they gave me identity and confidence … i wish so happy but thought I could “do better” Now that im married I see how …

I understand. Yes she is a good woman but I’m not sure I ever deeply loved here… she was rebound from my ex and we got pregnant pretty quickly that’s why we married to do the right thing. I’ve been trying really hard to develop deeper connection but it’s not easy… especially now that physical attraction changed after baby.,, we didn’t have foundation of chemistry beneath physical…. i hate to admit it but I don’t enjoy talking to her… that’s one of main reasons I feel alone … like we don’t unders…

i just never imagined feeling this way in a marriage… i should also add that i’ve been abusing substances for a few years and I think most of the shame:regret is tied to that…. the first step is to get sober from opiates

Thank you and yes I don’t want to get divorced. I need to become a man i’m proud of and stop pushing my own negative emotions on to my wife

Yes I need to man up… I hate myself for having these thoughts… I have a great life on paper and was dealt a great hand of cards in life but i’ve always struggled with anxiety and low self esteem even thou im rich and people say good looking

Yes for my sons sake I need to try better to love and be intimate with my wife but it’s so difficult when i’m in my head all day comparing her or judging her … life with my ex was great and i can’t stop comparing what life would be like if i married her and had kids … we would be popular couple locally have tons of friends / family around … she was also my best friend, My current wife I don’t feel a deep emotional connection which makes me feel so alone

she is a good woman… i just live with so much pain of regret that i didn’t marry one of my ex’s … i settled and want to experience true love

I had better in the past but I didn’t appreciate it at the time that’s why I feel like I settled… I had better connections physical and mental with ex’s in the past

it was long distance relationship … my plan was always to marry someone local… my ex had tons of friends family around who knew and respected my family’s business it gave me so much confidence and feeling of belonging

Agreed… i’m just struggling so much with regret of not marrying ex’s from the past… i should’ve married my college girlfriend or my previous ex who was from same town… i feel so alone… i can’t stop comparing what life would’ve been like if i married someone else… im not proud of my wife … I think people expected me to marry someone more impressive … i hate myself for having these thoughts

time heals. you are so young. you don’t have kids. you will remarry. try to enjoy the next few years of your life they will make you stronger. 10 years from now you will be married with a few kids playing house with a woman you haven’t even met yet… now that’s exciting… i’m jealous. enjoy!

I have one child and he is 2 years old. I moved to this town to work for a well known local family business that I will take over one day. My goal was always to marry a girl from this town who knew the business and had community here. I started abusing drugs and got long distance girlfriend pregnant and now we both live in this town together. Now that i’m sober I realize I most likely never truly loved her and didn’t leverage my great hand of cards… I wasted my privilege in a haze of substance a…

Agreed… i’m actually a really good person (I know people on here don’t think so) I’ve just always been very emotional and anxious and I think that’s why i’ve always had relationship / drug issues in the past. My plan is to pour everything into this marriage… I just pray this pit in my stomach goes away because i’m punishing myself mentally everyday feeling like I let myself and others down

Gotcha thanks for sharing. My wife isn’t toxic she is very sweet… that’s why divorce feels wrong cause there is no reason… I just feel like settled and have been lying to myself and we only got married cause it was rebound and got pregnant

I won’t … I will never give up because of my son… I’ve always been a very happy person but now I understand depression and why people give up

I have a lot to be grateful for. I also have always had a lot of anxiety, tend to overthink and feel like my spouse is a reflection of me. I understand I need to just man up but i’ve always been a very emotional person… it’s embarrassing

Agreed… my wife is a good woman and I have to try my hardest to love her. We have a good life if I could just be present and enjoy it. My mind is trapped in this comparison thinking about my ex’s being hotter than my wife and more impressive… I know it’s a horrible thought and I hate myself for having it

Yup thanks I needed that dose of reality. It’s just painful knowing what I know now I would’ve made different decisions in the past. I wish I got my ex pregnant… we would’ve had a better foundation of community around us. We were popular couple in town and had a great life yes marriage would’ve changed but we had a good foundation. This is not how I imagined being married would be like…. I have to stop thinking divorce means I will meet someone like my ex in her mid 20’s with no kids that wants …

i’m really trying but I don’t enjoy talking with her… she has heavy accent and english is second language so talks super slow and it drives me crazy …. i know i know im an asshole for saying that

Thank you. Thats the thing that is crushing me is that my wife is super sweet, loyal and caring. This is on me. I need to man up and lead my family by getting sober and creating a community for us

Yup I felt disrespected by it but karma is that my wife is really short so after getting pregnant her body got ruined as she says and can’t lose the weight, got back acne and now has POTS… karma I guess… at least my ex was tall something I didn’t think about before marrying was genetics of woman’s body as age

I don’t understand…

on paper life is good and my wife is peaceful and sweet. she cleans and cooks for us every day. she is a stay at home mom and i make great money. i just wish I didn’t feel like I settled or compared her to my ex’s everyday. how old were you when divorced? how was it dating as a divorced dad?
/r/Divorce_Men22/07/26 05:43 PM

I know i’m trying to become best version of myself and become proud of the man I am outside of relationship…
/r/Divorce_Men22/07/26 05:27 PM

Yes i’m ashamed that im living so much in the past. It makes me so sad to think that I broke up with tons of ex’s in the past who I was more in love with than my wife. Everything you said is correct and it pains me to even consider divorcing and seeing my son less… also heading back into the dating market i’d be damaged goods so most likely wouldn’t find someone as good as my ex…
/r/Divorce_Men21/07/26 11:18 PM
2

also it’s the comparison that’s crushing me cause the grass was greener in my last relationship… I was happier. I only broke up with her because she gained alot of weight and I have so much shame now admitting that … seems so immature now that I’m married with a child
/r/Divorce_Men21/07/26 11:15 PM

we don’t fight but i don’t love talking with her… our relationship was mostly physical and now since she’s had our son I realize that
/r/Divorce_Men21/07/26 11:08 PM

it’s on my end. I keep unfairly comparing her to my ex. my ex was from town we live in that i’m not from originally (here for work) so we had a great community of friends/family together it gave me identity and my now wife is also not from the town we live in so we don’t have much of social life… no siblings or grandparents around… i undervalued these things a lot

if you have no kids just leave. pull the trigger. you will be much happier single
