I just watched the movie yesterday, and I think there's a bit more going on in the movie. The trailers made it seem like it was a "Man bad. Woman good." movie, but that's just the marketing department trying to make the film's premise more digestible to the average audience. It's like u/jw255 said. Nasty tactics are employed by both parties, and there are ugly truths people are unwilling to accept about thier own party's shortcomings.
