Why would you attack me like this?

I can empathize but not sympathize. I’m very much in this position, chasing a fleeting feeling that I’ve gotten from a few really incredible girls over the years. This hypothetical person, much like me, needs to lower their standards to match what they have to offer. I wont, because I’m stubborn, so I can empathize with the frustration, but the solution is to play the hand you’re dealt the best you can. Not everyone is dealt two aces in life.

High standards relative to what I have on offer

"Single women are rare to the point where the only place I ever hear about them is online or in fiction"... bruh? This is patently false. The kernel of truth is that the girls who need their female friends to "fix them up" are never the attractive ones. Hot girls don't need a marketing team.

This is a good point. The key difference I'd point out is when men talk up their buddy, it seems like it's often aimed at strangers, whereas women often aim within social circles.

I think you're conflating value as a friend and perceived SMV. I have had some great guy friends over the years that struggle with girls, and I'm pretty clear-eyed as to why women avoid them (poor grooming, socially awkward, overweight, etc.)

It's really not. It's a question as to why women broadly seem to see their low-SMV friends as great catches, and trying to parse out whether they genuinely believe that. Low SMV =/= fat (although yes there's a lot of overlap).

Fair enough. Don't want to make the thread about me - it's a broader trend I see - but I'm in pretty good shape and have swung short-term flings w some pretty attractive women. That said, I'm certainly no prince charming, and was objectively the bottom of the guys in the friend group where this was happening most, so point taken.

I like my friends, but I can objectively say "Bob is an overweight, messy slob" and not try to counsel any friends to date him

Some girls certainly care about money, but more broadly chicks dig dudes who are having fun, and to be honest my man you don't sound very fun.

I have better-looking friends who get away with approaches at places like the gym, whereas women find it creepy from me. My advice: keep doing it. Don't harass, take no as a no, but keep shooting your shot. Don't go down the incel path - if you're less attractive, you just gotta fire off more shots. As long as you aren't harassing these women, if you're not exactly prince charming it's just a numbers game.

Ehhh idk about this take. Pre-covid, I could get some decently attractive girls in bars in town; OLD I'm pretty hopeless. I'm aware that I'm not a particularly good-looking dude, but the confidence to walk up to a girl at a bar is an easy way to potentially add a point.

Yeah this has not worked. Women who are tangentially interested suddenly start asking if we can hang out with “me and Chad” sometime

Sometimes I look in the mirror and think "what a stud". But if I take a hard-nosed look at things: - Girls who are 7s and up usually flake out, treat me as a backup and are full of excuses around hanging out - Girls who are ~6s generally will hang out, and if I'm not a total buffoon will likely agree to keep hanging out, at least for a little while - Girls 5 and below will initiate contact, text back instantly, agree to be just f-buddies when they want a relationship, etc. So taking an honest st…

I think charisma is sort of born out of abundance. My good looking pals will rack up win after win after win, and so it creates this natural confidence around women. I feign confidence, but after taking mostly Ls, there's probably something false to the confidence that women can see right through.

Not all that much. I started lifting weights and eating better to get girls, but after 5 years of lifting I just don’t notice any more interest from girls... I’m still an average looking dude. OTOH you get far faster respect from other guys. I play guitar for me... girls find my singing voice atrocious. I ski because it’s fun. I climb because it’s fun. I ride a motorcycle because it’s fun. That one has helped a little - it got me a date once - but the next day she opened up to my really good loo…

No. If a woman who you ignored suddenly shaped up, you’d probably start paying her attention. For all the grievances, that’s one of the best things about modern society - you have tools at your disposal to change your station in life.

Final score = lower score + lower score + higher score / 3 So say the face is a 3 but the body is a 9... 3+3+9 = 15/5 = 5 But say the face is a 6 AND the body is a 6... 6+6+6 = 18/3 = 6 Higher final score for more consistency between the two

This is extremely hard on apps, unless you’re willing to lower your standards to where you’d stand out from other men messaging that particular woman

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
