OYS 18 Stats Mid 40s, 5’10”, 163 lbs, BF 14-15% (Navy), married 20+ years with 2 kids Physical GSLP week 5 BP 160x8, SQ 190x9, DL 205x5, OHP 105x6 Pumped to see strength gains this week. I believe my previous best for BP was 160x6, and that was the AMRAP on a Wendler 5/3/1 day a while back, before GSLP. On my most recent BP I had a spotter for the first time, and after I knocked out the first two 160x5, I was able to go 160x8 on the AMRAP. I gutted out 2 more reps knowing the spotter was there t…

Yeah, and then another "coincidence" last night of sweet behavior and asking me if we could watch the game together (coming from a woman who hates sports). Where we going fishing? Farm pond that a buddy of mine owns... he would prefer to grow big bass in it, but it's overrun with crappie, so he's always telling me I should come and harvest a bunch of them, so I'm taking him up on his offer. Still have to work out the details and see if the weather holds up this weekend... if so, it's going to …

100% spot on - included within/among many of the outright mean and nasty barbs directed towards me are judgements and/or declarations of my lack of leadership. I tried to explore this a few OYS's ago and was banned for "listening to my wife." No big deal though - the ban still served it's purpose and prompted me to evaluate a lot of things... and I don't exactly have a solid track record of holding frame, so it's understandable.

OYS 17 Stats Mid 40s, 5’10”, 161 lbs, BF 14-15% (Navy), married 20+ years with 2 kids Physical GSLP week 4 BP 155x8, SQ 185x9, DL 195x11, OHP 102.5x7 Lifts were good this week - linear progression is still moving along nicely. I'm likely a week away from stalling out/having to deload on OHP (meaning not able to hit the 3x5 for the working weight), and maybe 2-3 weeks away on bench. I am aiming for DL and squat working weights to be close to or above 2 plates by the end of this 8 week cycle. Nutr…

It is much better now, yes. After I wake up and get stretched out, I look "straight" rather than "crooked" when I stand in front of the mirror... but it was really gnarly about a year to year and a half ago. I would go days at a time, not being able to stand up straight. The unfortunate lingering effect of it is that when doing squats, my back can only handle a certain amount of weight and my body remain stable. Meaning... I'm sure my legs are strong enough to rep out 240-250 lbs (or more) at th…

Unless you have an injury - and sometimes even if - there is little reason to "take it slow." An extreme version of this is what I dealt with (and am still rehabbing, as it flares back up from time to time, though it is improving)

Yeah I can see that it is possible for someone who is not inside my brain could interpret that as the ramblings of a crazy person. I have found at times when I write, completely unfiltered, it exposes flaws in my mental models that I'm oblivious to (but that you and UW4 easily pointed out)... so there's value in it for me. No need to worry about my lifting... I have been lifting heavy (SL, then Wendler 5/3/1, now GSLP), 3 times a week since January 2021, and haven't missed a day since I was sick…

Wow u/UsefulWalk4 - you don't know how much I appreciate you taking the time to give valuable insight as well as... I wanna say "a kick in the ass," but that is so cliche around here, however I can't really think of any better way to put it. I can't remember the entire conversation verbatim, but it went something like, "when we have sex this way... blah, blah (verbal diarrhea)... I FEEL like I am being raped." This is in reference to her not getting off, because yes, for the longest time before …

Those words were verbalized to me, so to speak, a few nights ago... just minutes after what was a consensual act. My ego is so afraid of even posting this when I know I'm going to get hammered for it. BTW your OYS history has been very helpful for me (I've been around here for a year+), while we're obviously not the same, I've gleaned a lot of useful info from your situation... when you feel like you're putting in the work and still always dealing with a disinterested and/or constantly complaini…

If I only get physical fitness out of my time at MRP, it will have been worth it. Good catch - thank you. This is why I decided to start these again (to get this kind of feedback), after taking a few months off when I realized I was mostly seeking validation in my posts. I had the whole OYS ready to go and literally added that line at the very last second, and it exposed a flawed mental model I still have. It occurs mostly when I sit down to write these and I try to get to the root of why I only had sex 2 times in the last 3 weeks (or something similar).

OYS 15 Stats Mid 40s, 5’10”, 160 lbs, BF 14-15% (Navy), married 20+ years with 2 kids Physical Took the advice of u/ImpatientZen and Switched to GSLP - currently on week 2 BP 145x10, SQ 167.5x9, DL 180x8, OHP 95x8 - I can see why I still need to be on a linear program now. Some of my lifts have gotten better, with either reps or more weight/reps (BP/SQ), but DL and OHP haven't moved much if at all, and there's no excuse for that when my back has gotten much better in the past 3-4 months. I get it... this episode illustrates my failures thus far in creating the sex life that I desire. And being in someone else's head, rather than acting on my own wants/needs has 100% always been an issue. Appreciate the info for lifting as well... gaining mass and driving my numbers up is my #1 goal for the physical this year, due in part to seeing that advice get hammered into so many of the dudes here.

I had to fake an orgasm for the first time in my life. I did not think I would ever be the type of guy that would fake an orgasm just to stop a sex session so I could chill and watch a show. This is one of the funniest but at the same time most awesome things I have read in an OYS thread. All I can think about is Kramer in "The Mango" episode... "Well you know, if it's enough already and I just wanna get some sleep." THAT is a man with abundance!

So you might want to ask yourself, "Why am I asking this question?" Because if you are looking to "do stuff" to receive words like this for validation, then you're going at it the wrong way. I can't really remember the specifics... but it was most likely due to me getting shit done around the house, which I do because I'm constantly working on being disciplined and it's the adult thing to do - no other covert reason... and that all started with the discipline I added to my life through lifting. …

To protect their ego so they don't have to accept the fact that she isn't good enough for you. Because sometimes it's just too hard to face themselves and their need to improve. To many dudes get started and then get pissy that their woman doesn’t immediately respond. There will be setbacks and bad weeks, but it seems like you have the confidence to figure out what’s caused them. Aha! I KNEW when I was writing that particular section that I had read something before about how horribly the hamster manifests itself in some women in certain situations. Give her ways to add value and redirect that anxiety into sexual desire. The next challenge to tackle, no doubt... but I realize now that SHE is not the challenge, but it really is can I provide leadership to that place?
