I totally get this as a point to illustrate the issues with having only one gender present at any table. If this was all there was, it would be pretty agreeable. It's a shame so many people take it literally.

As awful as those views are, they are largely conditioned. Nobody is going to write off half the world's population on a whim, their hate needs to be justified in some way otherwise it just becomes nothing, and plenty of people have had that hate justified by recieving hate themselves. As much as you're not really wrong, giving those people hatred ensures they will never change, but giving them hope, help and empathy makes it more likely they'll be able to see the error of their ways and become …

Everyone I've been with has pretty much deliberation concocted a huge hatred between me and my friends. I feel at this point like it's something that girls are raised to believe is acceptable

I'm sure there's gonna be plenty of pieces of shit mopped up by this, but plenty of regular people with dysfunctional lives too. Maybe it would help if the entire situation in Russia wasn't such a mess that sending in your husband for conscription is something on the table, however much he may or may not deserve it. A state with the power to turn you against your fellow man instead of delivering a fair punishment or an easy life, depending on what you deserve, is something that contains a whole …

So people who are potential victims of x believe in it and people who aren't don't? Regardless of which side you take, that's just how most political issues are, right? You never see them written up as such because the page is supposed to be there to tell you what the issue is, not what you should think about it. I'm sure there were plenty of bad apples who were training that page with some awful things, but we shouldn't all have to suffer our definitions changing to suit the needs of others bec…

It's properly weird, but I don't like one of the people and only just heard the other existed so I don't really care. That said, a 21 year old became an adult like that year, while a 31 year old has been an adult for an entire decade. You're at two totally different stages in life and while it isn't necessarily predatory, it doesn't quite sit right. It's always been my take that older guys who target only just legal younger girls are just smart nonces, and even though that seems unlikely to be t…

Can someone smarter than I am work out the percentage likelihood for any of those 5 women to be hired than any of those 20 men? The worst part is I don't think anybody reasonable really disagrees with this, lots of groups of people have been held back far too long and they need some of this advancement to be able to reach the same level. But the only way they want to try and deal with it is by tipping the scales against people rather than just levelling it out.

Yeah, doesn't the definition explicitly use penetration with a penis as the qualifier? It's quite disturbing, I remember at one point I was told that rape was "the worst thing a man can do to a woman or a man can do to a man" and I added "or a woman can do to a man" and that just got me a load of dirty looks and killed the conversation. Was weird because it wasn't in a bad context, the lead-in was just a man talking about how bad they thought Rape was, as if it's unique for a man to think that a…

The only real con I suppose is how difficult it would be to implement and maintain. The human ego isn't going away any time soon, and all it takes is one person to be a little too selfish and a destructive downward spiral is started. It definitely sounds too good to be true, and it very well could be, but that's no reason to not try Most level headed people are aware that lots of issues we lose sleep over in the west are small potatoes to other places in the world. Lots of Africa, Asia and South…

That's basically it on paper. Representation wouldn't even need to be enforced because it would be that way organically. People would be in their jobs because they are chosen without bias, and with everyone recieving the same education and access to higher education you would end up with a naturally diverse system. Even if you didn't have a fully diverse government, everyone in the cabinet would be aware of everyone's needs and happy to carry them out, so people wouldn't worry about representati…

Egalitarianism is about everyone having equal rights and varying levels of support based on their needs. It's probably the best political ideology on paper, I don't think it's ever been carried out on a big enough scale for us to truly know how it would work. It would work best in a post-scarcity world - with enough resources for everybody to have what they need to live and a little more for an acceptable level of luxury, it would be the most likely ideology to circumvent the kind of greed that …

The best we could do would probably be an Egalitarian movement. That would get us what we want and be good for everyone else too. No matter the problems that exclusively harm us, it's kinda shitty for everyone so a movement everyone could get behind and deal with all our issues would be ideal and definitely possible in the next 50 years. If we started being nicer to each other on a basic level, the top cunts in charge wouldn't stand a chance. A sole Men's Right's movement would be too much of an…

It's important to recognise everybody's needs, even if we deal with ours first. Splitting ourselves into smaller groups that only look after themselves is a huge problem with society and it's unlikely we'll get any better until we're all pulling together like thaf

This kind of cognitive dissonance is always going to exist unfortunately. Though it's an interesting point you make about Latin America, lots of that news seems to have been really poorly spread, I hadn't heard of this at all and nobody I speak to had either. Meanwhile we all know about the toxic extremes of so-called feminism that's always going on. This is part of the problem, it used to be that people's reactions would pass this kind of news along, but now it seems media outlets are leading w…

I'd say social class and wealth would usually be much bigger factors than any demography. You'll also often hear the argument that while both genders face a lot of unique problems that make life harder, people care about women's problems and laugh at men's. This is definitely true to an extent. You'll also hear the argument that women have it easier because some of them are attractive and they get merit based on that, but I'd say that's men's fault for letting that attractiveness mean as much as…

Why do all these groups think flipping the script is going to work? All it will do is change who is being treated shittily, which they all claim to be totally against

I'd be interested in seeing whether single parent families of either gender would yield results like this. I guess this has just become the focus because single mothers appear to be much more common than single fathers.

I think most people are assholes, but not bad people. Meaning that most people will do shitty things more than a few times, but are still good human beings at the core and will hold up their circle of people as best they can. Seeing such a big amount of people being dismissed as uncontrollable shitty people irked me quite a bit

I'd guess that a lot of people who are annoyed with this are more annoyed with the assumption that they are incels than that they are actually incels. We're in increasing danger of accepting that as a buzzword

The word mansplaining exists just to invalidate an opinion enough that you don't have to consider it. Somebody unironically using it would need a different approach to give advice. Depending on how close you are you could either address this point or otherwise I'd advise asking how she'd deal with a friend telling her the same thing she told you, ultimately that's the real issue here. As much as mansplaining is a shitty copout to addressing the issue, it can't be ignored that your friend is prob…

Edit: this is fake, I didn't know this when I posted but u/Anotherban provided an unedited picture. How we proceed to think of this depends who made the image, if they wanted this reaction we all handed it to them on a plate. In future I'll make sure to fact check before reacting, if we fall for this kind of crap too often it could defeat the entire point of what we're doing That said, I'm sure many people do agree with what the sign says and it's pretty disgusting that it was believable in the …

It doesn't matter whether he resisted arrest or not, what matters is that he was killed without a fair trial by a violent man with protection within his organisation. Maybe he was a criminal but he was also murdered, so while we shouldn't outright sympathise with him fully he still deserves justice

If we have 4 main banknotes, we got Jane Austen on one and The Queen on the other side of all 4, then women actually outrank men by 62.5%, with only 37.5 being men

All a 6 or 7 year old boy is thinking is "bums are funny because poo and farts come out", and while it's important that he learns that it's not okay to film people in that way without them being okay with it, it's pretty ridiculous of people to act like he is a sex offender and an awful human being. It's funny how OP is sexuslising his own daughters and the actions of the kid and it's a 6 year old boy who takes the fall for it, rather than OP being told that while he's teaching the right lesson …

If you're gonna do that just do casual things, it's not hard. Why make a commitment when you know you're gonna break it and you can just be fully open and do the same shit in a morally okay way?

Does this guy not realise that people don't talk about men being raped when women are? Nobody plays to score points, and good men and women will take things just as seriously no matter who the accusation comes from, or at least trust but verify. People talk about men being raped when other people outright say they can't.

The state easily has enough money to pay child support for families instead of having a detached parent paying for it. Surely it's best for the child to grow up in a family where a parent who doesn't want to be in their life is completely detached, rather than begrudgingly keeping them in the loop to cover the costs.

I think I read somewhere about how there are basically no homeless or recovery shelters dedicated exclusively to men. That wouldn't be hard to change and it would help and save so many lives

I did think of counselling but at this point I don't really need it, plus my family was very supportive so everything I could have got from counselling I got there. I am very lucky to have that, a lot of people don't have a mental safety net like that to fall back on
/r/MensRights05/05/19 12:19 AM

I thought of that, but it was a complicated issue. She had significantly more social support than I did and she was in counselling too, anything she did could have been explained away with mental illness. Also it was just my word against hers, so it would have either not gone my way or been long and painful to go though. Also I had a lot of support from my family at the time, so justice in court wasn't at priority when it would have been important for me to do so

First time I was coerced so that's technically just some kind of sexual assault (I think), and second time I was asleep.

Yeah that's pretty standard. The few people who believed me told me that I should have had sex with her and she shouldn't have had to force it. It's no biggie now, I'm around much better people and I know that she's pretty miserable these days, but with the amount of people who are gonna go through that and never tell anybody I can't forget it, I need to keep the conversation going
