Maybe they don’t feel comfortable enough with you yet or maybe they’re people who like their own space. Just keep doing you and see how the friendships develop over time.

Reading your post that’s the vibe I initially felt, especially if she’s clearly intelligent and devoted to her work. Her work might also be very important and personal to her and to have it seemingly dismissed (not that you did dismiss it) might’ve hurt. The age gap and you having your life together could also be things she feels intimidated by. If you feel comfortable enough, see if you can bring these things out of her. Ask her these questions again and if she dodges them make it even clearer …

Just a different point of view but, perhaps she feels insecure about her personal life. You getting bored or ‘distracted’ might’ve made her insecurities act up. Now she doesn’t feel as comfortable letting you in. I know I’ve seen this in people before and have felt it to an extent in myself.

Just be yourself man. Don’t try to be cool or edgey or anything. A level of awkwardness is normal without tonnes of experience so don’t over think it. Just chat about stuff you’re interested in and things you find interesting about her, and if it you connect great, if not, there’ll always be another. Just try to have a nice time.

I’ve got friends who were virgins older than you are now. Don’t stress homie. It’ll come. Work on finding confidence and happiness and these things will fall into place.

It’s cool until instantly you’re all awkward and weird her out. Then let it fester in your mind while you try to sleep for the rest of the month.

It definitely is. I see this within myself and people around me. If you already have people you bond with, you’re more secure in establishing new relationships.

This sounds terrible and I’m sorry you had to go through this. I think definitely be careful, but be genuine and say how you feel. I dated a girl with a similar history for 3 years, her mum had also died. My experience was completely different though. When we started seeing each other she still cut herself and was very depressed. Over the years she got much better and by the time we broke up I was confident she could carry on alone. We’re still friends 3 years later and she’s confident and succe…

Dude holy shit you are me. Reading through your comments. That weird don’t be boring but don’t flirt too much so you seem like a creep is something I’m currently trying to fix. Also happens with guys without the flirting and just makes me seem kinda boring af.

I don’t get how you think that’s something worth saying.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
