First of all, are you suggesting feminism doesn't do this? Two wrongs don't make a right. Even if feminists would be the worst people in the world, this does not give credence to spreading falsehoods, misogyny or allowing this environment to breed illness.

First of all, this thread is not about self expression, this thread is about gay men or men who are of lesser masculine stature, are in their opinion, enemies of this movement. Secondly, if you click around on profiles in this subreddit, you'll see that majority of the posters here are radicalized which has derived from some sort of trauma / mental illness that they're not seeking help for because it's not "masculine" to do so.

But they don't have power over men. Men have power over women with Roe v. Wade.

Not really at all, practically all top female influencers and celebrities have had plastic surgery since their teens. Google your favorite star with the appropriate keywords and enjoy a breakdown of what they've had done. You don't have to throw women under the bus to express dislike towards male struggles. It isn't a race.

I'm a wealthy, educated and ranked as top 2 Olympic weightlifter in my country with 14 years of fitness experience. I think MRA does more harm than good because it doesn't use science or logic to solve real world issues but instead uses emotion, personal stories, and simply things that happen with big enough numbers either way; to deliver a story of victimhood, which many start to believe as MRA / anti-feminism / mysoginy become their lifestyle. Even this very thread is harmful because it's usin…

Women spend more time in total doing housework and child care, and although men work a few more hours than women, at the end of the week men on average spend 5 more hours on leisure than women. https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2013/03/14/chapter-6-time-in-work-and-leisure-patterns-by-gender-and-family-structure/ Women also have higher GPA than men and perform better in science careers. https://clear.dol.gov/study/women-men-and-academic-performance-science-and-engineering-gender-differen…

Yes, most men are in favor of abortion rights for women and if you disagree you are oppressing the prevalent culture's beliefs. If you don't think that Roe v. Wade should have been overturned then the picture in question should not bother you.

Statistically, 70% of men agree that women should be allowed to abort, so if you want to give out labels like Uncle Tom in this conversation, then only you qualify.

Why do you think it was just a tongue-in-cheek comment made to raise awareness? Because it proposes you to imagine something that they understand as being bad, so you would "mind your business" and not do the equivalent to women, which did happen, and now women don't have rights over the reporoductive system.

You can tone police as much as you want but this is provided as an exercise in imagination for men to imagine what their lives would be like if they had their reproductive rights taken away like women already have with Roe v. Wade. This is not what they want to happen, but what an alternative world would look like. You asked me to find a post advocating for forced vasectomies and in 30 seconds I did. It does not advocate for vasectomies; the post makes it very clear that any sort of control over…
/r/MensRights21/01/23 12:27 PM
-13

Yes, the post is saying that enforced vasectomies are bad, exactly like forced births are bad. Men can do whatever they want with their bodies, women can't. That is why it says "Stop abortions at the source" & "Did the idea of regulating a man's body make you uncomfortable? Then mind your fucking business." Nothing to do with men's rights, everything to do with the fact that women lost control over their bodies. It doesn't get any more clear than that.

Isn't that convenient. A fact that is "generally accepted" but is impossible to verify because nobody will ever admit to it. They shriek and scream and stomp about their reproductive rights and bodily autonomy, but when the topic is men they immediately take a complete 180. Luckily, unlike the previous factoid, which requires a wizard of truth who is the only one who can verify this claim, this one can be very easily analyzed. Nothing you said is based on reality. Most countries in the world require at least 3-5 years of med school and 3-5 years of postgraduate training to be licensed. If a person is unhappy with their psychotherapists then they can choose a person who they can be more certain of to be having passed appropriate training. Posts and messages like this are what stop men from getting help, with them ending up in another tragic story. Therapy works, and it's a good place to share your thoughts with a stranger who you can trust will not share your personal information while helping you find a positive solution. This is supposed to be a men's health / men's rights subreddit, yet harmful advice like this is upvoted to the top on every post.

It doesn't matter if they personally see the message or not. It still proliferates anti-LGBTQ attitudes which will play out eventually as personal attacks.

I can't be certain that won't happen, but that seems more like fearmongering than anything fact-based. My kids are going to pick up on an expression of an opinion about gay marriage on TV and use that to bully a kid at school Yes, if you watch shows that put a negative spin on that then this as well will be learned by them. If you don't comment negatively on LGBTQ people, don't watch anti-LGBTQ shows and tell them that bullying people is bad, then they're extremely more likely to not bully them.…

I'm not sure what you're asking evidence of? Are you unsure if memes can be used in an emotionally damaging manner? I already mentioned the "women-are-wonderful" effect It's not a scientific theory or a universal conclusion; it's just a bias which has been recognized in some fields, in some specific situations, in some studies. I know all these articles that you've linked, and it seems like you haven't read the last line of my first post or the links you've posted yourself. No, I don't agree that political, cultural, or religious opinions leads to viscious bullying. The pipeline there involves parents and teachers who are failing in other ways. I can't think of any behavior we have that is "anti-LGBT;" Any behavior or an affirmation of a belief. You can make a meaningless remark in front of the TV about how "gays are weird" and the child will make sure to deliver that message to a person like in the OP which can push them over the edge.
/r/MensRights19/01/23 09:07 PM

"You may have never bullied anyone, but you probably shared some views with the kids who did, so it's clearly your fault." No, I am very clearly stating that the action of sharing homophobic comics, memes, and messages is what makes teenagers suffer and end their lives, regardless of what group you belong to or imitate.

You can disagree and dislike anything you want, but if you act that out in front of children, then they obviously will learn from you, and it doesn't matter what your opinion of their further behavior is—kids are sponges and your anti-LGBT behavior will express through your child as well. This can eventuate in another article like the OP.

I tell my girlfriend and friends all the time when I feel like shit and don't feel like doing anything - they respect it and accept it. Citing sources isn't an effort for me. It's very reasonable to assess that a person who's actions go unpunished is willing to repeat it again. Men are allowed to lie more because they get less severely or less often punished for it - which obviously makes sense because men are generally more dominant and confident. Now, you're free to disagree - that's your prerogative, but everything that you can go by is the opposite of what's the normative behavior.

Echo chamber does not mean restricted speech. One way how you can detect an echo chamber is when you make valid, civil, and moral arguments for which you get downvoted and labelled as a troll. If you want to know what it feels like to not post in an echo chamber, I advise you to try talking with people who are not engaging with you only to reaffirm your beliefs - something which you do not do. Mainstream feminism does not hate men, it's just obviously not a popular opinion. Radicalized individuals on social media platforms do, the same applies to every sizable philosophy there exists. You do not have to take my word for it if you really want to be honest with yourself. Go to some 500 000+ user subreddit and simply explain your thought process and impressions, see what the answers are.
/r/MensRights18/01/23 11:54 PM

You and I both know that this subreddit is an echo-chamber and a negative score just means that it's against the narrative, not that it's wrong factually, ethically or morally. You and I both also know that you don't engage with other opinions in an honest manner but instead confirm your own beliefs over and over in a safe environment to not get hurt over possibly being wrong. It's fine though, you can live your life however you want; just strange that you think it's surprising.

It's just a matter of fact that a person who is a president holds more power over our lives than a single carpenter. I think it's far more reasonable to measure power by who holds the majority of the decision-making positions. I also think 68% vs 65% is not really a domination, but you're free to have your opinion.

Okay, feel free to give your answers to these questions then and let's see if I disagree. What is the scale of the "social system" we talk about? Then which "positions of dominance" count? When is a position considered to be dominant? What is the definition of "privilege" here? Then which privilege count? From which proportion do we count something as "primarily held"? What proportion of men are we talking about when one say "by men"?

I did. You need to learn to read between the lines. It's a veiled complaint about shorter men not being as popular in the market with the conservative mindset of "men being the protectors" which does not apply this century anymore.

It sounds like you're projecting your insecurities onto women. Men and women just have their preferences, just like most men are fine with a girl who is taller than them, but the preference is mostly the other way around. It's not complicated. You make it complicated because that allows you to never acknowledge the reality - the questions never end.

Dominance and privilege do not equate to discrimination.

Nope, it has a very clear and exact definition. You're intentionally trying to make it look ridiculous to not accept the reality of it. You yourself come into this subreddit, to a thread which is titled "The Patriarchy" and then complain how that words is too prevalent. You can press the X in your top right and maybe hear it once a year in your life.

Again, absolutely and totally irrelevant. Even if Poseidon himself came from the bottom of the ocean and granted every man superpowers because that's how the world is supposed to be, it's still patriarchy. Whatever analysis you want to do after the fact is up to you.

It's still patriarchy and all else which you just said.

You're arguing with a strawman.

Patriarchy does not mean that there is discrimination, nor have I made any claims about discrimination.

No, a patriarchal system needs to have evidence of only: a social system in which positions of dominance and privilege are primarily held by men. Irrelevant of reasons or further explanation. Patriarchy by itself is not a negative term, it only describes who holds the most power.

Not all societies are patriarchal; patriarchy and matriarchy are qualities of gendered societies.

Let's think for one moment. Is there really no evidence of: a social system in which positions of dominance and privilege are primarily held by men. There obviously are studies and overwhelming evidence of patriarchy and matriarchy in different fields. If you do not want to believe them or accept them is another story but there is no society that is perfectly cut in half. I think it would be far more productive if you'd stay in reality, not deny it.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
