I seriously underestimated how expensive divorce can getIt should be simple, but divorce is a whole industry. A way to tie you up in a system and siphon your energy and resources. As long as you have less you will be more likely to fuck up, thus making it easier for the system to pay itself to punish you. Avoid getting the government involved, it is run by dumb hard workers who only see you as a number. Yes, women are greedy in divorce. My ex just wasted about 50k to get the courts to give her less than I offered her 2 years ago. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/04/26 02:33 AM
2 year trial finally over: ResultsThe reason I am getting fucked is that I work 10 hours per week and make the same as her | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/04/26 03:23 PM
2 year trial finally over: ResultsNo! I tried to give her what I thought was fair at mediation and pretrial. She ended up getting less than I offered her. I believe attorney skill had to do with this though. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/04/26 04:47 PM
2 year trial finally over: ResultsThats awesome that you have found a way to make the driving work you! How do you think you would feel if it was 6 hours per week, during morning and evening rush hours? She was only in the car with me for half that time. I had a similar reasoning to my transportatoon time, but unfortunately there were many mornings where I was enraged and I'm sure it was not healthy for my kid. So glad my ex will be doing that instead of me for the 12 years. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/04/26 04:53 PM

2 year trial finally over: ResultsBeautiful and sad! Righteous victory at a high cost! I had something similar happen. The judge got into detail about the car payments I made for the car that is in title and loan all mine, that she exclusively drove for the last 2 years. Also, she had to reimburse my legal fees that were incurred because of her failure to comply with paperwork deadlines in court. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/04/26 04:48 PM
2 year trial finally over: ResultsYoure not the first to say that. It suggests to me that some people feel it devalues or creates distance in my relationship with my daughter. Is that what you are implying? I love the kid alot. I have a colorful way of speaking. When I go to the psychologist all the new students get invited to watch cause I'm fun. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/04/26 04:43 PM
2 year trial finally over: ResultsI feel a bit bad for her. I always knew she was benefitting so much from my leadership. When she left she forced me to waste our savings on defending myself. Now shes a single mom with a full time 9 to 5 job who has escaped a husband who wanted sex and communication. She sees our kid for like 2 hours at a time during the week. I was a stay at home dad with the income of a full time worker and she threw it away because she couldn't find a solution to our sexual incompatibility. Her life is much h… | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/04/26 07:42 PM
2 year trial finally over: ResultsNah, I wanted to talk to her about it after but she was not ok. It was a trend in our marriage, she would say she was ok with things and then later she was not ok. It was also a trend that I wanted to talk about things with her and she would refuse. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/04/26 07:36 PM
2 year trial finally over: ResultsThanks, I think so too. So much better than it was | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/04/26 06:51 PM
2 year trial finally over: ResultsBoth! | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/04/26 06:04 PM
2 year trial finally over: ResultsNo man, Im just a crazy person. Always have been. We were together for 16 years. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/04/26 05:30 PM
Well this a new one, wife tried to hire someone to kill me.Do you have a hard time believing exes want each other dead? | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/04/26 03:09 PM
Accepting you're done with for lifeThe best time to divorce is when your kids are as close to 18 and married less than 9 years. That way you dont pay alimony and there is less child support. I was really happy with my divorce until I got court ordered to be my ex wife's slave and I have to pay her for it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/04/26 04:03 PM
I’m a 54 year old divorced man and I’m looking to date but each time I try I only attract women who don’t look attractive why is this?GLP1 drugs only keep the weight off if you stay on them for life. The weight will be back within a few years otherwise, most of the time. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/04/26 06:05 PM
I've come to the realization that marriage and divorce are all about the woman in life and in courts. Its like the more supportive you are while married the more youre on the hook for when they leave. Gotta maintain the status quo for years as the family courts take their time. Years of paying child support based on calculations made years ago. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/03/26 01:04 PM
Yesterday I spent $200 on a legal consultation for man-hating peach of an attorney. Best money I ever spent.Sounds like youre playing some 4d chess. I was doing that too 7 months ago... but now I'm just waiting for a judge to make her decision. She said she would sometime in 2026. I am losing my will to live as I wait for this decision, because our current orders suck for me a lot. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/03/26 05:02 PM
Any men in this financial situation with their divorce?I stupidly let my ex wife borrow my good car when her car broke down, shortly after separation. She never gave it back and its in my name so if I dont pay the bill it screws me over. I have surrendered around $20,000 to my ex for bullshit, and she has never had to pay me anything. Were not divorced yet, so I hope some of that money comes back to me by subtracting from the final buyout to get her off my back. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/03/26 01:45 PM
Remind Yourself: How They Treat You in the End is All you Need to KnowI just think its important to present yourself to potential partners as much worse than you are. If she accepts me when I tell her I can't wait to go on a sex tourism Asian vacation then thats a green flag to me. When I got with my wife at 22 I was trying to make her like me. These days I try to scare the women away and see who sticks around despite my negative attributes. They tell me their favorite thing about me is my honesty, and they knkw where they stand with me. I havnt given up on marria… | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/03/26 01:40 PM
Remind Yourself: How They Treat You in the End is All you Need to KnowThe cognitive dissonance has 2 functions. Reassures her she made the right choice because he was a bad guy, and justifies her taking as much as she is legally entitled to... which tends to be a lot. I am court ordered to make my ex wifes life much easier at the expense of my time and labor. I get nothing in return, I even have more custody than her. Its sad, but in my ex wifes case she would rather think of herself as a victim of a bad man than be introspective. Its easier to exploit an ex husba… | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/03/26 01:35 AM
Alienation is an insidious form of abuseexwife: Will you drive 4 hours so I can spend 2 hours with our kid? No? You're alienating me! Now pay me $1000/mo and give me the good car. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/02/26 05:11 AM
I think divorce reveals how many enemies you haveI look at it as a gift of truth. As I wander this dark world being disappointed by people I become harder and stronger. I also appreciate my true friends more than I ever could have before I lost so many in the divorce. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/02/26 05:04 AM
Fundamentals: Marriage counseling does not workThe rewriting of history is weird to hear about from those who tell me what shes been saying! Like apparently I moved her cross country to isolate her and she didnt want to go... except I have months and months of hand written letters of her telling me how excited and happy she was about the change (I was in army basic training, thats why she wrote to me). Its like after she left me everything I ever did became some form of abuse in her story. Its easier for her to convince herself she made the … | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/02/26 01:25 AM
Fundamentals: Marriage counseling does not workI also had a DA. Interestingly, the woman Im talking to now was also married to an avoidant and its uncanny how similar our experiences were. Would your ex also say "Im not good enough for you and I never will be. Im just a bad person"? | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/02/26 07:36 PM
Fundamentals: Marriage counseling does not workThe tone card is a great observation. She shut down so much communication because it didn't feel safe for her. I dont think she was being manipulative either, I just think she was actually incapable of talking about things she didn't like. Some wives are just pathetic I guess. I'm in a new relationship and its been great being able to talk to someone about complicated subjects us middle aged divorcees have experience with, Like attachment styles, sex, future projecting like timelines for kids, t… | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/02/26 06:45 PM
Would you take her back?I wanna say yes, but as I type this out all the things that would have to happen are completely unrealistic. For example, she would have to apologize for treating me like shit and would also have to do something to make me feel loved. We havnt interacted except through text for almost 2 years, so she might be a different person. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/02/26 06:49 PM
5 months out and AI hits me with a new word. "Contempt".My ex also had so much resentment that she poorly communicated. It would come out in weird explosive arguments about like which ice cream place are we going to, or which closet do we keep the air conditioner in. Her resentment never resolved, and I became hurt that she had become so cold. I think me expressing my hurt, sometimes unskillfully, is what bred the contempt. She felt so wronged by me, what right did I have to ask for love from her? This of course hurt me more and the toxic cycle conti… | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/02/26 06:01 AM
Child Support QuestionI would be very interested to see statistics about men vs women receiving child support. Dude if you can get it, do it. Do it for all the men paying their ex wives. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/02/26 02:46 PM
Wife emptied main liquidity account and rerouted her payPersonally, mediation was a waste of 3k that made my ex believe she was entitled to a lot more than my lawyer thinks she is. We have been high conflict for 1.5 years in trial and the mediation is just a distant memory. However, there were a few paper trails of things she agreed to early on in mediation, that later in trial I was able to disprove her lies with. So I guess anything you can get her to write down can possibly help. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/02/26 03:44 PM
Does the Ex feel like a parasite?Yes this is exactly how it feels. Parasitic. I do 75% of childcare, even though its technically 50/50 custody. I know how expensive my kid is, and its for sure less than the $1000 per month my parasite is entitled to. How do I know? All my extra money goes to my ex, and I have my kid a lot, and I spend almost no money on her. We go get a free item at the gas station on Wednesdays. I took her to McDonald's and spent $14 yesterday. Taking her to play dates is free and birthday parties are just a $… | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/02/26 02:38 PM
False promises on separationThanks for this reminder, towards the end I got the sense that she was just trying to delay and avoid the inevitable. Like she wasn't even trying to communicate with me, and everything just devolved into the same toxic patterns. We were verbally hurting each other a lot, for reasons that still barely make sense to me, but I don't think there was any fixing or repairing possible. She moved out and never spoke to me again, except about our kid via text. The ultimate avoidant discard after 15 years… | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/02/26 07:30 PM
How much do you pay monthly child support? How much custody do you have? How about alimony?were not divorced yet, been in trial for 1.5 years. Currently I pay her $1000 per month, I am responsible for 100% of kids transportation and must drive 2 hours per day to bring my kid to Moms house on Mom custody days. We have 50/50 custody but I am a disabled veteran and only work part time so I have a lot more availability than ex wife who works full time. Therefore, our kid is with mom a maximum of 80 hours per week on Mom weekends, or 36 hours per week for a Dad weekend and I have our kid a… | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/02/26 04:12 PM
How to cope after discardI'm going through that too bro. My advice is to take as much of your money as you can and invest it into a great lawyer, because after spending about 30k in legal fees I am actually doing ok. My ex still gets about 25% of income, but I'm the primary caretaker of our kid because I see her every day and do all the school logistics and support. It's still 50/50 custody, but I for sure have the kid much more than she does. I also am probably going to keep the house that I bought by myself while marr… | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/12/25 01:50 AM
